• Mike runs a hand over his face, his expression grim. “After what I saw on the photos, and the evidence I was given, I’m not going to grieve Carlton’s death, God knows there’s a part of me that thinks that what he got wasn’t nearly enough. But...”
• I look up at him, my head spinning, and feel like the world has suddenly tilted off its axis. “You can’t condone it, but you can’t deny it serves a purpose?”
• He nods. “I can’t deny it. The justice system is broken. Has been for a long time. And maybe this will act as a deterrent? But it also scares me. These people are taking down powerful men everyone else within the system is afraid to. But if they work outside of the law, they aren’t accountable to anyone.”
