• I stared at him for a moment, letting the silence stretch between us. Then, out of nowhere, I burst into laughter. It wasn’t the kind of laughter that came from genuine humor—no, this was the laughter of someone who had just heard the most ridiculous thing in the world.
• I took a step closer to him, unable to stop laughing. “Did you really just say that you love me? Are you really that delusional? Let me remind you, Alpha Philip, that I am already a mother.
