Chapter 4 I Have A Boyfriend
- Cheng Cheng spent four hours accompanying him during his IV infusion.
- As he left the ward, colleagues in the corridor were still whispering about the patient.
- "Dr. Cheng never has any issues with IV infusions."
- "I heard that the patient always has problems with IV infusions."
- "What kind of problems? It's clear that he pulled out the needle when Dr. Cheng turned around and reinserted it himself, causing the issue."
- "Is he unwell or something?"
- "Shh, keep your voice down. He's the only son of the Jiang family. Be careful not to let anyone find out, or you'll be punished."
- It was well-known that the Jiang family had shares in the hospital.
- No one wanted to offend them.
- Especially not the future sole heir of the Jiang family.
- Cheng Cheng was supposed to have clinic hours in the morning, but due to Jiang Gu's reasons, she had to close the clinic.
- However, many of the patients who had appointments with her came from out of town.
- She never did anything that would make people come all the way for nothing, so she skipped lunch and used the entire lunch break to see the morning patients.
- In the afternoon, it was also her clinic hours.
- She didn't stop until five o'clock.
- And on this day, from morning till afternoon, she hadn't eaten anything.
- She was exhausted.
- However, when it was time to leave work, there was a commotion at Bed 35.
- "Dr. Cheng." Nurse Wen Jing hurriedly approached.
- Cheng Cheng, no longer feeling hungry due to excessive hunger, endured the stomach ache. "What's the matter?"
- "The patient in Bed 35 won't let us take his temperature." Wen Jing bit her lip.
- Clearly, she had been scolded a lot while taking care of Jiang Gu.
- "I'll go."
- She walked forward, and Wen Jing watched Cheng Cheng go all the way, feeling a bit sad as she wiped away a tear.
- The nurse next to her saw Wen Jing wiping her tears and came over to comfort her. "Did that difficult patient make you cry again?"
- "No," Wen Jing said with red eyes, "I just feel that Dr. Cheng is really tired..."
- And unlucky.
- She kept the second half of her sentence to herself and would never dare to say it out loud.
- Thinking of Jiang Gu's sinister and eccentric gaze, she closed her mouth tightly.
- Even the gaps between her bones felt cold.
- Cheng Cheng pushed open the door and saw Jiang Gu playing with his phone with one hand.
- When he heard the sound, he put down his phone, as if he knew it was her.
- He cooperated very well, unfastening the belt of his hospital gown, revealing the skin on his chest.
- The skin was taut and strong, and you could even see the clear outline of abdominal muscles.
- Clearly, he was someone who loved sports before being admitted to the hospital.
- Calmly and neatly, Cheng Cheng placed the thermometer under his armpit and reminded him, "Hold it tightly."
- Jiang Gu looked at her face, his gaze somewhat focused.
- Cheng Cheng didn't pay attention to his gaze. After completing these tasks, she sat on the sofa beside her.
- He watched her close her eyes and remained silent for a while. Suddenly, he spoke, "Did you just have surgery?"
- "I just finished my consultation."
- "Do many people come to see you for treatment?"
- "Yes."
- Jiang Gu looked at her and stopped speaking. In his dark eyes, all he could see was her resting with her eyes closed.
- Just when Cheng Cheng thought he would stop talking, considering that she was tired, he spoke again, "Why do they all come to you for treatment?"
- Upon hearing this, Cheng Cheng raised her eyes and looked at him.
- This time, Jiang Gu didn't meet her gaze directly. Instead, he lowered his eyes, and his eyelashes covered half of his eyeballs.
- "I don't know either."
- She answered and closed her eyes again.
- The thermometer could be removed in five minutes.
- But Cheng Cheng fell asleep, which rarely happened.
- When she woke up, it was already half an hour later.
- Jiang Gu had already gotten out of bed and was sitting on the sofa beside her, staring at her face without moving.
- Feeling his gaze, Cheng Cheng looked at him and asked, "Do I resemble someone? You've been staring at me."
- "Not really," he replied, "I just think you're beautiful, the type I like."
- Cheng Cheng smiled and raised her lips slightly, "I already have a boyfriend."
- "I didn't say I wanted to pursue you."
- "Okay." Cheng Cheng asked, "What's my body temperature?"
- "36.7."
- "That's normal. I'm off work now." She stood up and walked towards the door of the ward.
- Jiang Gu didn't call out to her. After watching her leave, he blinked his eyes and lowered his eyelashes, lost in thought.
- When Cheng Cheng returned home and was about to step into the bathtub after taking off her clothes, she heard the sound of a WeChat call.
- She reached out and took her phone from the shelf.
- It was a call from Zhao Qichen's assistant.
- Although she was supported by Zhao Qichen, she didn't have his WeChat.
- Zhao Qichen's contact information was never given to anyone other than his official girlfriend.
- So, these other women were all relayed messages through his assistant.
- She thought about it and realized that he had only been gone for two or three days. There were so many beautiful women outside trying to please him, so he wouldn't think of her.
- Therefore, she was very tired and too lazy to answer an assistant's phone call.
- She put her phone back.
- After a while, she finished taking a bath.
- She was about to go to sleep when she heard a knock on the door.
- "Dr. Cheng?"
- Cheng Cheng heard the voice outside the door and raised her eyebrows.
- She put on a shawl and went to open the door. Standing outside was Peng Xiaoyue, Zhao Qichen's personal assistant.
- "Can I come in and sit?" Peng Xiaoyue looked curious as she glanced into the room, seeing that Cheng Cheng had just finished bathing.
- Cheng Cheng looked at her peering into the room and couldn't help but inwardly sneer.
- She stepped aside and let her into the room.
- She went to the kitchen to pour her a glass of water.
- Taking advantage of the opportunity, Peng Xiaoyue looked around the room.
- Cheng Cheng stood at the kitchen door, holding the tea, waiting for her to secretly inspect all the rooms and confirm that there was no one else before coming out of the kitchen.
- "Why do you have time to come to my house?"
- She asked knowingly, willing to play along with Peng Xiaoyue.
- Peng Xiaoyue awkwardly took the glass of water, took a sip, and then said, "Sister Qiao said she called you but you didn't answer, so she asked me to come and check on you. She's worried that something might have happened to you."
- "What could possibly happen to me? I've just been occupied with work at the hospital and returning home late."
- "Well, if nothing is wrong, then I can be at ease. I'll inform Sister Qiao that Dr. Cheng had a busy day and is tired. You should rest soon."
- "Alright, then I won't keep you."
- Cheng Cheng accompanied her to the door.
- After bidding each other goodnight, she closed the door.
- Peng Xiaoyue went downstairs and called Qiao Xing, the assistant who accompanied Zhao Qichen abroad. "Sister Qiao, Dr. Cheng is at home, and there are no other men in the house."
- Qiao Xing responded with a sound and didn't say anything else before ending the call.
- Peng Xiaoyue looked puzzled at the luxury car parked not far from the old residential area. "If she's not here to see Dr. Cheng, then who could she be here for? Is there another Dr. Cheng hiding in this rundown neighborhood?"
- Upstairs, Cheng Cheng observed Peng Xiaoyue's car driving away and closed the curtains coldly.
