Chapter 7 Probably Tired Of Playing

  • Zhao Qichen received a call from Qiao Xing, and his expression immediately darkened.
  • While Cheng Cheng was at work, she received a call from an unfamiliar number, which turned out to be Zhao Qichen.
  • She answered and heard a lukewarm voice on the other end ask, "Is there something unsatisfactory?"
  • Cheng Cheng replied, "I'm content with my current job and don't need to switch."
  • Without giving her any consideration, the person on the other end abruptly hung up the phone.
  • It felt as if they had publicly humiliated her, showing no concern for whether she could handle such treatment.
  • Fortunately, Cheng Cheng didn't let it bother her.
  • She lowered her gaze and glanced at the call log, which lasted only five seconds, before turning off the screen.
  • Deng Yujiao had stayed up all night and, feeling exhausted, she propped herself up and bought breakfast pork buns and hot soy milk from the supermarket on the second basement floor. Just as she took a sip of soy milk, she spotted Cheng Cheng.
  • In that moment, it was as if she had found a lifeline. With teary eyes, she rushed over, almost wanting to throw herself into Cheng Cheng's arms while crying and venting her frustrations.
  • "You finally came, wuwuwuwu..."
  • "What's wrong?" Cheng Cheng embraced her, "Did Jiang Guo mistreat you severely?"
  • "More than just severely, I feel like I'm walking ahead while my soul is trailing behind. He's tormenting me to no end." Deng Yujiao poured out her grievances, "This Jiang Guo, is he here for medical treatment or a beauty contest? He even judges the appearance of the medical staff who administer his injections and medicine. Is he sick?"
  • "He is indeed sick." Cheng Cheng didn't deny it, but the issue still needed to be resolved, "I'll go take a look."
  • "Take this pork bun." Deng Yujiao handed the hot bun she had just bought to Cheng Cheng.
  • Cheng Cheng politely declined, "You eat it."
  • Jiang Guo was bored in his hospital room, gazing out the window at the small garden. An elderly man in a patient gown was practicing Tai Chi.
  • A few sparrows were chirping on the willow branches.
  • His eyes were bloodshot, and he had heavy dark circles, clearly having not slept all night.
  • When he heard a knock on the door, he turned his head.
  • Seeing Cheng Cheng enter the room, he forced a smile and said, "Dr. Cheng is on duty."
  • Cheng Cheng noticed that his complexion was not good, realizing that he hadn't had a good night either while tormenting others.
  • "You need to rest."
  • Cheng Cheng walked over, and there was a faint fragrance emanating from her.
  • It wasn't the scent of a heavily perfumed fragrance, but rather the aroma of food.
  • Jiang Gu frowned as he watched her place the breakfast she brought on the table next to the hospital bed.
  • "Eat and then go to sleep," Cheng Cheng said.
  • Jiang Gu looked at her gloomily.
  • Cheng Cheng continued, "I will administer your IV drip while you sleep and keep an eye on the drip bottle."
  • Jiang Gu's mouth twitched, a smile that wasn't quite genuine.
  • His gaze twisted in a somewhat sickly manner.
  • If others were to see him with such eyes, they would probably be terrified, but Cheng Cheng wasn't afraid at all.
  • She simply met his gaze calmly.
  • The two of them were locked in a standoff.
  • After a few minutes, Jiang Gu, like an old man, leaned back against the pillow behind him and stared straight ahead. "I don't have the energy to eat."
  • Cheng Cheng walked over and scooped some porridge for him, offering it to him.
  • Jiang Gu graciously opened his mouth.
  • Zhao Qichen never contacted her again.
  • Qiao Xing also never appeared again, but Jiang Gu's visible condition gradually improved in the hospital.
  • Jiang's family had already considered discharging him. A young woman wearing a mask, dressed like a female celebrity afraid of being recognized by paparazzi, rushed into her consultation room with a registration form and asked her, "Doctor, I want to inquire about Jiang Gu's condition."
  • Cheng Cheng looked into her revealed eyes and fell silent for a moment.
  • She felt like she was looking into a mirror.
  • The mirror didn't recognize her, but she recognized the mirror.
  • "What illness do you have?"
  • "I don't have an illness. I want to ask about Jiang Gu's condition," the woman emphasized again.
  • Cheng Cheng placed the pen in her hand on the table and looked at her, saying, "If you don't have an illness, then leave. Don't waste the time of other patients and public resources."
  • The woman was instantly stunned, a momentary fear flickering in her eyes, as if she had remembered something.
  • But then, she suppressed that fear and, with some unknown courage, took out a stack of money from her bag and boldly threw it over, saying, "I just want to inquire about Jiang Gu's situation."
  • Cheng Cheng looked at the stack of money, leaned back in her chair, and sneered at her, "Do you want to leave on your own, or should I have the security guard escort you out?"
  • Upon hearing this, the woman angrily grabbed the stack of money and walked away in her high heels.
  • After the woman left, Cheng Cheng lowered her eyelashes, picked up the pen from the table, spun it a few times, and waited for her emotions to calm down before raising her eyes and calling out, "Next!"
  • After seeing all the patients in the morning, Cheng Cheng was dragged by Deng Yujiao to have lunch.
  • On the way to the cafeteria, coincidentally, they saw Jiang Gu, who was heading to get his food in the cafeteria.
  • Jiang Gu was tall and broad-shouldered, and he walked in a very captivating manner.
  • He exuded the aura of a young man.
  • Deng Yujiao couldn't help but be infatuated just by looking at his back. "If this little brother were to cut his wrist for me, I might be head over heels for him for the rest of my life."
  • "Using suicide to hold onto someone is a pathological behavior for a man, indicating an extreme personality. You should be glad you didn't encounter such a difficult person." Cheng Cheng shattered her unrealistic fantasy.
  • Deng Yujiao walked alongside her towards the cafeteria and said, "This morning, the girlfriend who made him cut his wrist for love came to see him."
  • Cheng Cheng's footsteps paused slightly.
  • Deng Yujiao continued, "That girl is quite good-looking, but honestly, I think she looks a bit like you."
  • Cheng Cheng smiled, "We all have two eyes, a nose, and a mouth. We all look somewhat similar."
  • "Yeah, I guess all the beauties resemble you." As she said that, she went off-topic, "By the way, who was that woman who came to pick you up after work last time?"
  • Cheng Cheng knew that Deng Yu Jiao was referring to Qiao Xing and responded, "She's the assistant who has attached herself to me, a wealthy second-generation."
  • "She picked you up after work, so does that mean..." Deng Yu Jiao blushed belatedly, "she took you to meet that wealthy second-generation for a date?"
  • Cheng Cheng smiled lightly and remained silent, which tacitly confirmed it.
  • Deng Yu Jiao asked again, "What does the wealthy second-generation look like? Is he handsome?"
  • Cheng Cheng thought about Zhao Qi Chen's face, serious and cold when necessary, but handsome.
  • But when they were intimate, it was as if he transformed into a different person, full of passion.
  • "He's decent."
  • "That assistant hasn't come to see you recently, so you..." Deng Yu Jiao wanted to find out more.
  • Cheng Cheng pondered for a moment and realized that it had been almost a month since Zhao Qi Chen had contacted her.
  • She casually replied, "Maybe he got tired of playing and wants to break up with me."
  • Hearing this, Deng Yu Jiao frowned, "Cheng Cheng, why do I feel like you've been neglecting yourself lately? You... have changed a lot."
  • She remembered that Cheng Cheng wasn't like this before.
  • This version of Cheng Cheng made her very worried.
  • "I'm fine." She smiled and answered, but her peripheral vision caught Jiang Gu, who had been observing her from a distance for a while.
