Chapter 6 Losing One's Cool

  • Viviane
  • After the episode at the entrance to the mansion, two days ago, I hadn't seen João Felipe anymore, which was a relief.
  • I was leaving college much later that day, considering that my classes were in the morning, and it was after 7 p.m., as I had been in the library studying for end-of-semester exams and ended up completely losing track of time.
  • I took out my cell phone to check the messages and saw that I had several missed calls from João Pedro.
  • I decided to return immediately, after all, it wasn't common for him to call me so insistently. Usually, he was content to just send me messages and didn't insist on getting back to me right away, since he knew I was away at college. He had turned down her ride earlier today, saying he was going to study at the library.
  • The cell phone rang several times, and he didn't answer, which ended up pissing me off. I was a little stressed the last few days, I believe it was Felipe's return home. I kept insisting as I walked inside the University campus, looking for a bus stop.
  • " Hi, my beautiful! " He finally answered.
  • “Did something happen? Are you okay? Your parents are well?” I said in one breath. Until I remembered the people most important to me. “By the way, are my parents, okay?” I practically screamed, already thinking about the worst.
  • “Stop being crazy, Vivi! Everyone's fine,” said João Pedro in a bored tone.
  • “Then why did I have this absurd number of missed calls on my cell phone?” I was upset with his lack of empathy. “Do you want to kill me from the heart?”
  • “Wow, you walk so dramatically. What's happening to you?” João Pedro questioned, looking suspicious.
  • I realized that I was making a big fuss over something simple, and I concluded that I was tense. This is all thanks to the return of my best friend's brother. I decided to relax a little and recognized that I needed to apologize for the turmoil.
  • “Sorry, I'm just worried about the final exams,” I said, a half-truth. “But after all, tell me, what did you want with me?”
  • “You disappeared all afternoon, I sent you several messages, and you didn't answer. I was just worried. Tell me where you are, and I'll pick you up.”
  • That is, really nothing serious had happened, thank God.
  • " I'm still on campus, I ended up losing track of time while studying at the library. But I told you I was going to study here today, I don't understand why you're surprised, because I always do, especially when it's so close to the start of exams. You walk strangely.”
  • "I didn't think I'd be around this long," he complained, but strangely, sounding a little anxious. " I was waiting for you to call me, so I could pick you up.”
  • We then agreed that I would wait for him at one of the cafeterias that existed inside the campus and ended the call.
  • I was sure João wanted to talk to me, and I believed it would be something serious and not just another one of his tantrums. He was acting strange, I could tell by the tone of his voice, and he had been restless for a few days now.
  • João Pedro did not like to open up about his feelings and emotions, he was very reserved, and I never saw him fall in love with any girl he had a relationship with. But lately, I haven't seen him with anyone, and he keeps disappearing without telling me where he is or with whom. Something was going on with my friend and I just hope it was nothing serious.
  • It didn't take long, and he arrived. He should be somewhere close to the University, as we lived at least thirty minutes from the university, and he didn't even spend fifteen to getting to where I was waiting for him.
  • “Just say what the problem is because I know there is one” I got into the car and sat on the passenger seat, at the same time as I said those words. “Don't bullshit me and don't look so innocent!”
  • “Let's get out of here. When I get home, we'll talk. I need to vent. There's something I want to share with you.”
  • “I knew I had something!” I said, looking at him with an inquiring and worried expression.
  • He didn't say anything else and drove the car out of the parking lot where we were. I understood that he wanted to talk only when we got home and decided to wait for his moment. We were very close, but I had no idea what the subject could be.
  • Upon arriving at the mansion, we were going straight to his room when we ran into João Felipe in the hallway where the family's rooms were located.
  • We were walking hand in hand because I noticed that João Pedro needed support and I held his hand. Looking at our joined hands, João Felipe blurted out:
  • " Did the couple decide to come out? She asked with an expression of displeasure.”
  • " Not yet. But any day, it could happen, " said João Pedro, smiling.
  • It was always like that, João Pedro never responded to the way his brother referred to us, which made me very irritated.
  • " Are you going out, João Felipe? " He asked curiously because Felipe was very well groomed, handsome as always and his smell was to drive a poor mortal in love crazy.
  • He was still staring at our joined hands when he answered his brother in a dry manner.
  • " Clear. After all, Friday is the best time to relax. I'm enjoying it while I still haven't taken over Mendes de Albuquerque.”
  • " We're also going out, me and Vivi.”
  • I immediately looked at João Pedro when he said that. I hadn't arranged anything with him, and I wasn't intending to go out this weekend. Exams were right around the corner, and I was never going to enjoy a hangover while I was supposed to be studying.
  • "Let 's go to Alícia Guimarães' party.”
