• After some contemplation, Talia gave up on the thought of directly asking him about it. Although she was curious, she didn't have the guts to expose him. When they both came together, they never had much to talk about. Talia didn't know about what Jasper did in the company, and Jasper wasn't interested in what Talia did in the operation theater. It seemed like fate insisted on bringing these two people together from the very start, even though they were from two completely different worlds. It was unlikely for them to have a happy ending when they didn't have a happy beginning.
• "Why did you decide to study medicine?" Jasper was the first to start the conversation. He held his drink in one hand while his other hand rested on the edge of the table, and he had a natural and relaxed expression on his face. This was the first time he had ever shown any interest in her life.
• Talia thought about it for a moment before answering him. "I guess I felt a sense of regret because my mother didn't get immediate treatment when she first fell ill. That was why I thought I'd grow up to be a doctor so that I could save more people…" She trailed off. Jasper's expression clearly darkened when she brought up her mother.
