Chapter 8 Conspiracy

• Brent’s P.O.V.
• I almost blew a gasket as I heard the Alphas explain why they were fighting one another. I am grateful I have Daniel as my Alpha and not the nitwit standing to my right.
• Daniel sends me back to keep Hunter and Gabe company, because he can tell that I will explode within seconds and I am grateful for the fact that he is willing to handle this on his own.
• Hunter and Gabe are sitting on the front porch when I get back to the cottage, Hunter runs into the cottage, and seconds later she shows up with a tumbler and a bottle of whiskey. I smile at her as she places them in front of me.
• I down the first one in seconds and quickly pour myself another one, before I sit back in the chair while I thank her for the whiskey.
• “What have you so pissed off, BeeBee?” She asks and I almost choke on the sip of whiskey.
• Gabe stares at her and I am at a loss for words at what she called me.
• “Hunter, have you lost your mind?” Gabe asks and the look on her face tells me that Gabe is gonna get it as badly as I did.
• “I didn’t lose my mind, GeeGee.” She says with a straight face.
• “Oh, don’t tell me no one ever connected the dots. Beta Brent and Gamma Gabe.” It takes us both a few minutes before we realize what she is talking about and then we both laugh out loud.
• After we have calmed down enough, we tell her that she is the first one that ever made the connection and we tell her that she is the only one allowed to call us that without consequences.
• “Daniel sent me back, because I was about to commit murder,” I growl before I explain why both Packs were fighting and then Daniel pulls us into a mind-link. I tell Gabe to explain things to Hunter, while I walk away to look for Alpha Malcolm.
• Gabe’s P.O.V.
• “Who was that GeeGee?” Hunter asks and I actually feel proud that she gave me a nickname.
• “Daniel pulled us into a mind-link so we could all hear a conversation he was listening to. Someone in this Pack holds a grudge against your Mother in regard to your Father. We have no details so far, but your Mother is well protected and I will not leave your side.” I say and she crawls onto my lap as tears roll down her face.
• Knowing that Daniel can feel her emotions, I link him to let him know that she is aware of what happened. I hold her in my arms as I rock the rocking-chair I am sitting in and slowly her breathing evens out as she falls asleep.
• Two Guards approach the cottage as Brent informs me that both the Doctor and nurse are taken to the dungeons, while someone from the Lab is testing the drink to see what he put in there.
• Daniel sends Chris and Peter to keep me company and to help me protect Hunter if that would be necessary.
• “She knows what happened, but I also think that learning a few basic things about herself has exhausted her.”
• When I tell Chris and Peter about her ability to feel her Step-brothers, their jaws drop. We talk about the past day and a half as we wait for our Alpha and Luna to return.
• Aspen’s P.O.V.
• I can tell that Victor is in a mind-link, but his eyes never leave me as I walk around the room, checking on my patients. Once he is done he moves closer to me and it is as if I have an extra shadow with me.
• He never gets in my way, it is as if he knows where I am going before I do and even though it should creep me out, it doesn’t. I know that this man will give his life for mine if that occasion should occur and I am grateful that Victor is very good at his job.
• When it is time to take a break I walk to the fridge in the nurses-station, but the drink Doctor Willow usually gets for me is not there today and as I think about it I have not seen him in a little while.
• “Luna, the drink was taken to the Lab to be tested. Alpha Daniel overheard a conversation about an attempt on your life.” Victor says and as the words sink in, my world turns black.
• I slowly open my eyes and find myself on the couch with Victor on his hunches beside me. The door opens and Victor quickly gets out of the way as my Mate wraps his arms around me. “Don’t ever scare me like that again.” He whispers.
• Victor tells me that I was out for a minute or so, but it was enough to alarm Daniel to my distress. I kiss his cheek to let him know that I am fine and then I start to panic “Where is Hunter? Where is my Baby?” I yell as I try to get up from under Daniel.
• “She is fine. Gabe and two Guards are with her, I checked in with Gabe as I came down here and she is fast asleep in his arms.” He chuckles and I giggle at the image in my head.
• “Please tell me someone took a picture of that,” I say and two seconds later I get a thumbs up from Victor. Daniel still holds me when Alpha Malcolm walks in with Brent right behind him.
• Alpha Malcolm knows why they were after me and Hunter and Daniel think it is wise if we discuss this at the cottage. Victor’s eyes glaze over once more and once he is done he says, “They will check the cottage for bugs and the Warriors are setting a perimeter around it.”
• Once we are seated in the living-room with Victor, Chris and Peter standing guard by the doors, Alpha Malcolm is allowed to tell us what he found out. Hunter is still sitting on Gabe’s lap and Brent’s hand is running circles on her back.
• It warms my heart to see how much they care for my Daughter and the trust she has in them. I am glad the Council sent Daniel our way and that he is my Mate.
• “Alpha Daniel, the nurse came to our Pack about a year before Aspen. She switched Packs, because there was an opening in staff here and she wanted to get away from some bad memories. She never told me what they were and I never asked.
• It turns out that Hunter’s Father had tried the same stunt with her but failed because her Brother knew a few Lycans. However, she had fallen in love with him and wanted to be with him regardless, but he left her without a word.
• Aspen never hid the truth about what happened and the nurse was jealous that he had slept with Aspen, that he had marked Aspen. She had hoped by informing his family that they would take Hunter away and that that would break Aspen.
• But his Father threw every piece of information away, because he is still ashamed of what his Son did. The Doctor knows Hunter’s Uncle and contacted him, hoping he would help them break Aspen. Both for different reasons, thou.
• The Doctor had his own agenda, namely making Aspen his Mate and he would have done it forcefully if necessary.” Alpha Malcolm says and I hear murderous roars all around me and the cottage.
• Looks like everyone heard what Alpha Malcolm said and they don’t like it one bit.
• A small smile appears on Hunter's face when she hears the roars and I feel a comfort knowing that there are men out there that will keep me and Hunter safe. I snuggle closer into Daniel's chest and I feel his grip on me tighten, I have never felt this safe in my life before.
• I never want to let go of this feeling; I never want to let go of this man next to me and I know that Daniel will do whatever I ask of him. I know that he will take care of me and Hunter, he will be the Father she never had and she gets four older Brothers.
• The one thing I am not so confident about is how they will react to Hunter and her rather unusual way of just being her.
