Chapter 7 Phase One: Seduce My Father's Bestfriend
- Amelia
- I was home alone today, Evans was here too. Dad was out for some business stuff and the helpers—well they were not in sight.
- This is the perfect time to set my test in motion. Seduction—phase 1. Urghhh, saying it like that felt like I was doing something wrong.
- I knocked on his door and he opened in a flash.
- “Hii”
- He gouged me, trying to see if something was okay.
- “What?”
- “Why are you in front of my room door?” he questioned.
- “I was passing…I wanted to ask if you would like some cookies. I'm about to bake some.”
- “No.” He swiftly said and was about to close the door.
- “Come on, I'm trying to be nice.”
- “That's the thing, you're never nice.”
- “But I can be.”
- “Not to me.” He said
- “Come on, some cookies and milk won't do you any harm.”
- “Amelia, I'm a 40 year old man. I don't take milk and cookies.” He sternly said.
- I rolled my eyes before responding, “No wonder you are so grumpy—you never take a day off.”
- “Can I go into my room now?” He asked without waiting for a reply and shut the door.
- This test is not going well. The first phase was to make him eat some snacks, or anything at all with me and see if he becomes touchy or too physical. He clearly has no interest in it.
- I pace around the corridor before coming up with a plan.
- “Owwww, it hurts—” I scream, holding my ankle, “—it hurts so bad ouchhhhhh.” My screaming made him come out again.
- “What is it again?”
- “Your stupid door broke my ankle.” I replied.
- “I'm not 12 Amelia.”
- “You closed it and it hurt my ankle.”
- “On which leg?”
- “My right leg. Owww it hurts sooo badd.”
- “Why are you holding your left leg then?” He asked and I realised my hands were actually on my left leg.
- Sh*t!
- “The pain transferred to my right leg. Now I feel it on both legs.”
- “I have a lot of work that needs my attention.”
- “Can you for once not be boring and at least help me?” I pretend.
- Evans carries me up in bridal style, walking up to my room. He smelt so nice, his cologne was amazing. Musky, masculine maybe? I loved the smell of his hair more.
- “We're here.” He said and dropped me in front of my room.
- “So what about the cookies?”
- “No Amelia.”
- “Maybe we could hang out later? It'll be fun, besides the whole house is boring.” I coo
- “I have other things to do than chit chat with someone twice my age. Goodnight Amelia.” He walks out leaving me
- That's it. Phase one of “Seduce my father's bestfriend” was clearly not successful. On to phase too. Evans Scott, if you think I'll let you go so easily then you must be dreaming. This is just the beginning of you falling for me.

- Amelia
- For once I wanted to atleast forget about this whole marriage thing, just completely forget. Today I was having dinner with Ramon—my supposed husband-to-be.
- I watch them smile, Ramon and his father as they chatted with my Dad. Dad lived for this moment. His greed blindly him.
- “Ah, there she is. Come my sweet.” Ofcourse he would be so nice to me because he is finally getting what he wanted through me.
- I sit beside Ramon and instantly feel disgusted.
- “She hasn't changed a bit. Still the same beautiful Amelia.” Ramon’s father, Mr Rajid said.
- “She has become a woman.” Dad loudly spoke and laughed.
- “You know when I told Ramon about the engagement he was elated.” Rajid eyed Ramon. Ramon however, didn't give that look of feeling elated at all. His head was to the food and I see his eyes trail our chef—we have the best chef actually.
- This dinner is simply the worst.

- “Phase one didn't work” I tell Cassie on the phone.
- “Well, on to phase two.” she happily mentioned.
- “Cassie, I can't do this. It's wrong.”
- “Girl, you need to know if he likes you. I mean what is more hot than this?!”
- “I don't know how we became friends.” I shook my head.
- “That's cause you love me and I make your life easier.” she comfortably said.
- “Texts me everything!!” she shrieked and ended the phone.
- Phase One was a disaster, Phase two better be good. I had to rile up his emotions in this one, see if he gets mad cause he never does.
- I've prepared the perfect plan. I was headed to his company—Vance Publishing.

- “Miss, Mr Evans is in a board meeting.” the secretary said, trying to stop me from entering.
- I enter nonetheless and I was ready to cause a scene.
- “I'm tired of all this!” I screamed, all eyes on me.
- Evans looked at me, without emotion.
- “I'm sorry sir, I'm really sorry. She walked in unannounced.” The secretary came in apologising to Evans.
- “After the passion we shared that night. You want to dump me? H*ll no!” I said looking at him.
- I turned to the secretary that looked like she was getting a fired letter after all this.
- “Now I'm pregnant. Pregnant for you!!” I continue my tantrum.
- Evans walks towards me, grabbing me out of the board room.
- “What are you doing Amelia?”
- “Getting you out of the office.” I replied
- “That's what a phone is for.”
- “Do I have your number?” I asked in reply.
- “Amelia…you have no business coming to my company.” I looked at his face, patiently waiting to see any rage.
- “Well, hello I'm Amelia Reynolds and I do what the f*ck I want.”
- He took a deep sigh…
- “You have no idea what you're doing. You need to go home now.”
- “You can't just tell me what to do…I love the control but—” I trail, exposing my cleavage.
- “I know what you're doing.”
- “Maybe you should tell me what I'm doing Evans.”
- “I'm twice your age, you shouldn't even try.”
- “Oh, so should I call you daddy now?” I joked.
- I see him gulp..just a little.
- “Go home Amelia—” He calls the secretary, ‘—Yvonne, see Miss Amelia's way out please.” and leaves.
- Phase two of seduction… drastically failed and add a little bit of embarrassment.
- *****
- I told my chauffeur to leave with the hopes of driving back home with Evans. My knees hurt from a lot of walking… I can't book an uber because I didn't bring my phone with me.
- Immediately I get pushed into a dark aisle, my back to the wall and my alcoholic ex's face comes to view.
- “Jake!”
- “Missed me?” He smirked, he reeked of alcohol.
- “Let go of my arms.”
- “Shut it! You think I wouldn't find you?! I told you. I'm going to find you and deal you with you. You wh*re!”
- He said, pressing my hands with his large ones.
- “You should be in the mental hospital! That's where you belong.” I spat in his face and a hand lands on my cheek.
- “You need to be taught manners! You lack them! I should have taught you a lesson the moment you broke up with me! No one breaks up with me!”
- I reach for my bag, my pepper spray wasn't there. Oh sweet Lord, I should've taken those taekwondo classes when I had the chance.
- A large figure appears with something large in his hands, he pounces towards Jake and I black out…
