Chapter 6 Prince Charming

  • Amelia
  • “You're too young to be here at this time.” he said, making me scoff.
  • I continue walking down hoping to see a taxi anytime soon.
  • “Amelia, where the f**k do you think you're going?”
  • “I'm going home.”
  • “You're going home, without a car?”
  • “I don't need one. I could get a taxi or book an uber.” I said searching for my phone when I realised those dickheads stole it without me looking.
  • “ S**t—they took my phone.”
  • “Come on—I'll drive you home.”
  • “No” I disagree
  • “Amelia stop being so f***king stubborn and get into the car.” I turn on my heels walking
  • He catches up to me—holding my arm and pausing my steps.
  • “It's 11pm Amelia and you think it's good to walk all by your f**king self?!”
  • “Vance, you're not my father and you don't have any control over me. So rest assured I will walk home by myself. I don't need help from an egotistical mammal.”
  • “Fine. You want to walk alone, I won't stop you.” he said and walked back to his car. I didn't need a lift from him. I didn't need him at all! He annoys the s**t out of me and always think he is right.Well he isn't!
  • The night was cold and the only thing I had on was little or no protection from the cool breeze.
  • I was out on the streets—spotting a few restaurants and then I noticed his car—
  • I stop on my tracks, my hands in my pocket.
  • “Mimi please just get into the car.”
  • “Why are you following me?”
  • “I want you to be safe Mimi—please get into the damn car.”
  • I enter the car—giving up cause if I spent another hour walking down to where I have no idea I would probably turn into a frozen fish.
  • He drapes his suit over me—noticing me shivering. My eyes lit up and the red in my cheeks appeared. “You're shivering,” was all he said and drove off.
  • I felt amazing—like one of those passenger princesses they talked about on tiktok. Fuck. I was romanticising my father's best friend.
  • “You shouldn't walk off like that.” he said, his whole attention on the road.
  • “It's none of your business.”
  • “You're my business Amelia.”
  • “I'm not. Just drive.”
  • “Don't order me.”
  • “At this moment, I have every right to.”
  • The car comes to a stop immediately. He turns to look at me—face to face.
  • “Amelia—
  • “Yes,” I whispered. The atmosphere suddenly changed.
  • “You defile me, you annoy me and you challenge me—” I'm very sure my gulping was heard.
  • “Now you order me.” He finishes.
  • “You have a smart mouth.”
  • “I.. uh.. “ the words were stuck in my throat
  • “What would you do if I kissed you right now?” He said
  • “What?” I whispered, terrified to break the moment. The groan that escapes his lips is low and guttural as he itches his face closer to mine—cupping my cheeks in his hands…
  • ◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
  • Àmelia
  • The groan that escapes his lips is low and guttural as he itches his face closer to mine—cupping my cheeks in his hands. I was drained by shock but also a little possibility of wanting to kiss him?
  • No, you hate him Mimi—my subconscious said with my eyes closed. His hands slid from my cheeks and onto the seat belt, checking if it's in place before placing his hands in the wheel.
  • “Uhm..” I said .
  • “Uhm what?”
  • “I thought—” I trailed off
  • “You thought what?”
  • My silence gave me up and he immediately started laughing at me. He laughed so hard, his smile wide this time. I've never seen him laugh like this.
  • “You thought I would kiss you?”
  • “I didn't think that.” I tried to hide my shame. Oh my word!
  • “Ofcourse you did.” He continued laughing.
  • “Well…yeah, didn't you?” I asked.
  • He paused, looking at me for a moment before saying, “I would rather kiss a horse.”
  • What the fuck?! No, he just compared me to a horse. An animal!! Seriously, is no one seeing the rudeness of this man?
  • “I don't mean harm.” He said, laughing harder this time.
  • “Well it's odd to see a man taking a liking to animals, now I believe you really are having issues. You should see yourself checked in the hospital.” I tried every comeback I could think of.
  • “I'm in no mood to banter with children, especially one that needs some mental assistance.”
  • “I'm not the one that compares people to animals.” I attack.
  • “No no, not doing that. A horse is adorable but you're a pain in the a**.”
  • That does it! He has no right to talk to me that way. Who does he think he is?! My fingers turn white from my clenched fists.
  • “Stop the car.” I ordered.
  • “Pardon?”
  • “I said, stop the car.” I repeated.
  • “No.” He replied and I turned to face him.
  • “Stop the car, now!”
  • “I'm not one of those people that let you do as you please. You're in my car so you either keep shut and let me drop you off at home or I'll drop you in the middle of nowhere.” He calmly said and drove off.
  • *****
  • 2 days later…
  • I've been trying to avoid him. I still feel so embarrassed àfter thinking he wanted to kiss me. Like, who wouldn't want to kiss me? Today I escaped through the window when I saw him pass my room door—he is everywhere.
  • I was face to face with the famous “EatnMore” restaurant. Now, when I mean famous I mean just somewhere my friends and I love to hang out. I entered and immediately saw Cassie, Eleanor and Frankie. Eleanor and I go way back, not as much as Cassie and I but i can still remember the one new girl I bullied in high school—now look at us, inseperable friends.
  • “Hiii.” Frankie wove to me, her glasses and afro hair really brought out that dark skin of hers. Eleanor was the quiet one between four of us; she was the true definition of cute with her 5’4 height.
  • “Well someone's not in the mood.” Cassie joked when I approached the table.
  • “I'm not. I'm stuck with an Arranged Marriage.” I rolled my eyes.
  • “I couldn't reach you last night. I was worried.” Cassie said
  • “I know, it's a long story.”
  • “Girll, that's what we're here for.” Frankie said as she sipped her drink.
  • Minutes later….
  • “So you're telling me your fathers bestfriend is in your house and he tries to kiss you last night?” Eleanor asked smiling sheepishly.
  • “I may have exaggerated. He said he didn't want to kiss me but it looked like he did.” I answered.
  • “Is he hot?” Cassie asked.
  • “I don't know.” He is, he definitely is.
  • “You like him.” Frankie accused making the other two laugh.
  • “I don't.”
  • “Then he likes you then, I bet he does. I mean judging from all you've told us.” Frankie said.
  • “I don't think he does. He just annoyed the f**k out of me.” I said.
  • “That's love—it's how they always start.” Frankie said, she's a big time fan of love and romance.
  • “Maybe you should test him?” Cassie interjected.
  • “Yes you should! See if he likes you too. Omg I second this!” Frankie shrieked.
  • I look at Eleanor, thinking she would have my back but she smiled at me like a child asking for candy on Halloween.
  • “No. No. No. No.”
  • “Come on, it'll be fun.” Eleanor said.
  • “It won't. I came here for advice on my supposed marriage and you're telling him to seduce my father's bestfriend.” I said to them.
  • “We said nothing about seduction. Just a test—” Frankie said.
  • “A series of tests. Come on Mimi, look at yourself—when was the last time you got laid?” Cassie asked.
  • “Yes, we feel sorry for you.” Eleanor said.
  • “One, I've had s**.”
  • “High-school doesn't count especially if it was just a make-out.” Cassie laughed.
  • “Well it's still something.” I said
  • “Come on, it's just tests to know if he actually likes you or he just playing.” Eleanor said.
  • “I'm not going to seduce my father's bestfriend. I hate him.” I repeat again.
  • I hate him, yes? Maybe the test thing would be in my favour, it could get my mind off of things like this marriage bullshit. Yes, it won't be so bad. And also, it would be the most easy thing, I've always had my way around men—Evans won't be a problem.
  • “I'm in.”
