Chapter 5
- ♧ Ryn’s pov ♧
- His eyebrow cocked up in amusement before he snorted. He backed away before throwing his head back to let out a boisterous laugh. He found what I had uttered amusing and that fucking annoyed me.
- "Damn Waters you never cease to amuse me,now I would really have missed this if I had killed you." He chuckled after he was done being over dramatic with his laugh.
- His greenish blue eyes clashed into mine as he studied me. He hummed before turning to look at his gang members. He gave them a chilling smile, one that if I was at the receiving end I would have been rendered speechless in fright.
- "My little toy would not be harmed in any way, she is to go back without a scratch do you hear me?" He announced to them. His words made me furious as he referred to me as his toy, it was like he was taunting me.
- They looked back skeptically between us before one who was a head taller than Ace spoke up. His features were displeased as he stared at us in contempt.
- "Ace are you sure we should let her go? It would be easy to kill her now so she won't be a trouble to us later." His rough voice suggested. His dark eyes leered at us in bitterness. It was evident that he didn't hold an ounce of respect for Ace by the way he regarded him.
- Ace head snapped towards him, his features vexed "What I fucking say goes! Don't ever question me again do you hear me?" Ace roared. I could sense the hostility in his deep voice and I shivered involuntarily at the sound.
- Ace turned towards me, cocking his head sideways. He studied me for a second before his lips curled into a smile. "Well what are you waiting for darling? Go on we won't hurt you." He teased and motioned to the way back to the shop I came out of.
- I was fucking fuming inside as his eyes and his words kept mocking me. I want nothing at this moment but to shoot him,but that wouldn't have been a good idea since I was planning to use him as bait one day for his father.
- I grumbled and cursed before bending down to pick up my gun but when my hands touched the cold metal Ace spoke up. "You won't be needing that gun darling so go on without it."
- I lift myself up and without a word I walked towards the way to the shop. My back was stiff as I felt their burning stares. Before I disappeared around the corner I turned back to look at him.
- His gaze was settled on my buttocks as he sucked on his lower lip. That action sent something unexplainable in my stomach and I frantically turned around to disappear from his sight.
- The shop came into view five minutes later, making me let out a relieved sigh. I quickened my footsteps not looking back as I reached the door and pulled it open with one swift tug.
- I wasn't expecting what greeted me when I entered. Nate, who was supposed to be interrogating the older man was munching on a chocolate bar laughing merrily at something the man was saying.
- My eyes narrowed at the two trying to make sense of what was happening. It was like they didn't even acknowledge me when I had entered. I strut towards them, my face annoyed at my partner for being a complete idiot.
- "Nate what are you doing?" I asked. His body stiffened when he heard my voice, he turned his head slowly to face me and gave one of those sheepish smiles he knew could win me over.
- "Uh I was just asking Paul here some questions." He mumbled
- I arched a quizzical brow " You're on first name basis already?"
- He choked on air, making Paul rush to grab a glass of water and hand it to him. Gulping down the water at once Nate's eyes avoided my steeling glare.
- His dirty blonde hair was cut short and he run an unsteady hand through it nervously. His dark brown eyes finally looked at me after avoiding unsuccessfully for minutes.
- "Paul was claiming that he didn't see anything." Nate began to mumble but I cut him off turning to Paul who was also avoiding my eyes.
- "Oh really Paul? Did you happen to see a tall muscular guy, about 6'4, brown hair with turquoise eyes?" I asked and watch as Paul gulped and flinched when I described Ace. His actions just gave me confirmation that he knew who I was talking about.
- "Paul buddy," I reached over the counter to place my hands on his shoulder and gave it a firm squeeze earning a wince from him. " We will be bringing you in for more questioning." I continued and watch as his face morphed into terror.
- "But officer-" His eyes falling downward to catch a glimpse of my badge. " Waters,I spoke the truth." He stuttered but his shoulders slumped in defeat when he witnessed my lethal glare.
- "You ran into Ace didn't you?" Nate asked, diverting my attention away from Paul.
- I rolled my eyes "How could you tell?" Sarcasm was dripping from my tone.
- "Only Ace could ruffle your feathers like that." He stated and peered at me.
- "Did he hurt you?" Concern was clear in his voice and I almost forgave him for being an idiot earlier. I shook my head no.
- "You probably should ask Ace this, he's the one who has a broken nose." I told him and smirked as I remembered Ace's nose.
