  • The brightness of the city lights came in through the windows as Max sat at his desk in his large office. He leaned forward, studying a stack of reports that was in front of him with a focused expression on his forehead. One of these was a thorough inquiry he had hired Mark, his secretary, to carry out.
  • A young, industrious man named Mark tapped gently on the door and came in holding a folder. He put the folder on Max's desk and said, "Mr. Smith, this is the report you requested."
  • Max looked up, his expression non-readable but serious. He answered, "Thank you, Mark," in a slightly weary tone. "Have a seat."
