• Liam sat by Marie's side, gently holding her hand as she began to wake. Her eyes opened, and for a brief moment, the environment felt calm. She said softly but plainly, "Liam..." Promise me you will not tell Grandfather I am here."
• Liam nodded and squeezed her hand. "I promise, Marie. He won't know from me." Marie smiled briefly before closing her eyes again, weary. Liam carefully adjusted her pillow to make her feel comfy.
• The door slid open to reveal her grandfather standing in the door way just as Liam was about to tuck Marie in.
