Chapter 6 I Don't Want Them To Be Together
- I didn't want to get in Lewis's car, but I had no choice.
- Then just as I fastened my seatbelt, he leaned over and forcefully kissed me on the passenger seat. His kiss was domineering, and made me feel breathless quickly.
- But I didn't want him treat me like this. It made me feel I was a substitute for Lucy. However, think about my grandfather, I couldn't resist.
- I thought he would go further, but he didn't. He just kissed me multiple times and gasped for air. Then he touched my tender lips with his rough fingers and remarked, "You taste really sweet."
- "You actually want to taste Lucy, don't you?"
- I suddenly asked him coldly. My words caught him off guard, and he asked in surprise, "Why?"
- I didn't answer his question. Saying he was treating me as Lucy's substitute would make me feel embarrassed and uncomfortable.
- But he quickly guessed my thoughts, then stared into my eyes and said seriously, "I just want to marry you. It has nothing to do with her. You are more suitable to be my wife than she is."
- I didn't believe his words. I didn't want to talk this with him either. Thus I just quickly changed another topic.
- "What do you want, for you to let go of my grandfather?"
- Lewis seemed surprised by my question again. He remained silent for a while as he drove, then suddenly said, "I never want to harm your grandfather."
- But still, I didn't believe him. I kept looking at him for an answer.
- He got annoyed by my demeanor, and refused to talk to me further. Then he started driving faster, seemingly venting his frustration.
- Thirty minutes later, he stopped the car at my house, lit a cigarette, and said to me, "Wait for my call tomorrow. I want you accompany me for a meal. Then I will give you a month for the medical bills."
- I was very surprised by how easily he changed his tune. I was afraid he would go back on his word, so I immediately nodded and said, "Okay."
- But the next day, he didn't invite me for a meal. Instead, he called me at 9pm, asking me to pick him home from a bar in downtown.
- When I arrived, I saw him, Leonardo, and Lucy were just standing at the bar's entrance. He seemed very drunk, unable to stand properly, and Leonardo was supporting him. Lucy was anxiously and trying to help.
- "Lewis, I can send you home. I did not drink. Or I can call your driver to pick you up here."
- Lewis seemed reluctant to listen to Lucy. He vaguely waved his hand to reject Lucy’s proposal, and stubbornly continued leaning on Leonardo for support. But when he saw me, he changed suddenly.
- Leonardo noticed his unusual behavior and followed his gaze, discovering me. Then Leonardo smiled, rudely pushed Lewis toward me, and said to him, "Your ride is here, you can leave now."
- Leonardo had exposed Lewis scheme. This made Lewis annoyed. He glared at Leonardo and then tightly hugged me, saying, "Let’s go."
- Lucy's POV
- Seeing Lewis being taken away by Lisa made my heart feel empty.
- I didn't love Lewis, even though I knew he loved me very much. My heart had always belonged to Leonardo.
- I had agreed to be Lewis's girlfriend before, just because he was Leonardo's best friend, and being his girlfriend allowed me to be close to Leonardo.
- Luckily, after rejecting Lewis's fifth marriage proposals, Leonardo finally felt my love for him and agreed to be my boyfriend. So I immediately told Lewis I never loved him and I wanted to break up with him.
- I did not worry about Lewis, cause I was always sure even though I hurt him, he would still love me. But this time, seeing him being taken away by Lisa made me feel unease, and watching their backs made me feel something important belonged to me was tolen by Lisa.
- I was very unhappy. So I turned to Leonardo and said, "They're not suitable. Lisa won't love Lewis. You should stop them."
- Leonardo listened to my words intently, then looked deeply into my eyes and asked, "Lucy, do you regret it? Do you want to go back to Lewis? I can help you."
- Leonardo's words made me feel anxious. It took me so long to make him accept me, and I was afraid he would give up on me. So, I quickly explained, "You misunderstood. The person I love is you. But Lewis is like family to me, and I want him to be happy. Lisa clearly isn't suitable for him."
- "So what do you want to do? Do you want to break them apart?"
- I indeed don't want Lisa and Lewis to be together. But Leonardo's gaze made me feel scared. I didn't dare to tell him about this thought, and I couldn't meet his eyes right now. So, I just smiled and said to him, "It's late, let's go home.
