Chapter 10 I Am Jealous?

  • I woke up in the large bed in Sis Elin’s room, soft morning light slipping through the window’s gap. The side of the bed next to me was empty—she was gone. I let out a quiet sigh, already guessing where she’d be: probably exercising. But I didn’t want to go to the balcony again. The memory of yesterday morning—her tight athletic wear and movements too vivid to forget—was still too clear in my head.
  • I glanced at my phone on the bedside table: 7:30 a.m. The interview was at 9. Better shower and get ready now, I thought, rising and hurrying back to my room with quick steps. In the bathroom, cold water poured over me, refreshing my mind, still tangled from last night. I put on a plain T-shirt and shorts after showering, but a strange feeling nagged at me—I hadn’t seen Sis Elin this morning. Curiosity pushed me to the balcony, despite knowing the risk. I stepped out cautiously, hoping to find her at the gym, but the balcony was empty. The treadmill was still, the dumbbells untouched.
  • “Where is she?” I muttered, standing by the balcony railing, gazing at the complex’s yard veiled in thin morning mist. A cool breeze brushed my face, but for some reason, my heart felt empty.
