• Late at night, I turned on the lights in the Princess’s chamber, once again meticulously tending to her belongings. It had been three days since the Princess left the palace, and during that time, I had spent my hours maintaining her room, waiting for her return.
• The soft silk bedding, the vanity where she brushed her hair, the bathroom she used to bathe—everything remained as it was under my care, exactly as it had been when she was here. I wanted everything to be perfect for her return.
