Chapter 6 Will You Believe It

  • At the restaurant, Jeanette told Craig about her life and work abroad over the years.
  • Having learned to play the violin from a young age, she was able to work as a private violin tutor during her time abroad. Her clientele consisted of affluent families, so her income was quite substantial.
  • However, it was a financial struggle for a single woman to raise a child, especially when Charles needed to be fed with formula milk.
  • “It must have been tough.” Craig felt an increasing sense of guilt. If he hadn't driven Jeanette out of the house back then, she wouldn't have had to endure such hardship for five years.
  • Jeanette had wanted to share with her father about her life over the past five years. In reality, now that five years had passed, she didn't feel that her life back then was particularly difficult.
  • But seeing the look on his face, she decided to hold her tongue. She didn't want him to continue living in guilt.
  • In the afternoon, Craig took Jeanette to visit several properties. Finally, after settling on one, he immediately paid for it in full with his card. The condominium unit was worth over ten million.
  • Jeanette was deeply grateful to her father for setting up a home for her and Charles in this city, and conveniently, there was a reputable private kindergarten nearby, making it easy for him to attend school.
  • After freshening up, Jeanette relaxed on the couch and browsed through her phone. Charles' competition videos, along with the remarks he made afterward, were popping up in various short clips. The topic was still gaining interest, which was starting to give her a headache.
  • At that moment, a series of frantic knocks on the door echoed through the room.
  • Jeanette was somewhat puzzled. She and Charles had only recently moved in, yet the knocking at the door suggested a clear hint of malice from the person outside.
  • She glanced at the video intercom and found Stefie standing outside.
  • Impressive. We just settled down and she's already here causing trouble. Isn't she supposed to be busy with her engagement preparations? Yet, she still found the time to come over here.
  • “Jeanette, you're really something, huh? You just got back and already tricked Dad into giving you a house!” Jeanette didn't respond and observed Stefie's shrewish demeanor through the video intercom.
  • “I know you're in there! Open the door! You b*tch!” Stefie continued to pound on the door.
  • Jeanette wondered why the security guard downstairs had let her in.
  • She recorded Stefie's shrewish behavior, then picked up the landline to call the security guard downstairs. “Hello, I'm the resident of Unit 1101 in Building 3. There's a woman at my door trying to break in and harm me and my son. Please hurry upstairs and take her away.”
  • As a resident here, Jeanette had the right to demand that the security ensure her safety.
  • The security guard downstairs received the call and promptly went upstairs. Stefie had simply stated she was visiting a friend. Little did they know she was actually here to cause trouble.
  • “Stefie, you're nothing but the daughter of a mistress. Know your place. If my dad decides to buy me a house, what right do you have to object?” Jeanette spoke through the video intercom, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
  • Stefie trembled with anger. “Jeanette! I knew it! You came back to snatch everything away from me!”
  • Dad gave her a house now, but what about later? He might even give a large portion of the family wealth to her. Even Taylor is still hung up on her!
  • “Go to hell, Jeanette!” Stefie glared at the doorbell camera.
  • The security team arrived promptly. Stefie regained her composure, gave a cold huff, and then walked away.
  • “Crazy woman,” Jeanette muttered under her breath. Charles had already entered the bedroom, and the soundproofing was excellent.
  • Wynona and Stefie might be plotting against me and Charlie now that we're back. I need to be extremely careful.
  • In the corridor of Huntington Hospital, Uriel was extremely excited, her legs swinging back and forth, as she waited, while Adriel was engrossed in his game.
  • Uriel looked at her brother engrossed in his video game. His handsome profile infuriated her.
  • They were a pair of fraternal twins, yet Adriel was not only intelligent but also more attractive than her. Most importantly, he always managed to remain calm and composed, even more so than her when faced with difficulties.
  • Despite her daily diligence in studying, she always ended up at the bottom of her class. Yet, Adriel, who spent his days engrossed in video games, surprisingly topped the entire school.
  • She was fraught with worry over Gabriel's situation, yet Adriel could remain so nonchalant, engrossed in his video games.
  • Indeed, comparison is the thief of joy.
  • It didn't take long before the doctor came over with the test results. “Ms. Huntington, your results are ready.”
  • “Let me see.” Uriel quickly took the report. She silently prayed for a few seconds before opening the file. Then, she stared at the words on it. Afraid she had misread, she quickly called Adriel over. “Adriel, come quick! I'm not seeing things, am I?”
  • Adriel walked over and took the report. His eyes widened in surprise as he read it. The results at the bottom confirmed that after verification, the two individuals were indeed related as parent and child.
  • “Oh my goodness! He really is Gabriel's son! The genes of the Huntington family are truly exceptional!” Uriel performed a little twirl on the spot. “I've become an aunt, and you've become an uncle, Adriel. And from now on, you're in charge of my studies. I don't have to be the top student in the school anymore!” She couldn't stop laughing with joy.
  • “This is serious, and you're laughing? Gabriel has a child out there,” Adriel said with annoyance.
  • “It's great news! Let's hurry and find Gabriel! He needs to know about his son and our little nephew. Let's go!” Uriel pulled him along as they rushed toward the elevator.
  • At Huntington Group, Uriel greeted the assistant with a casual nod before slipping into the CEO's office.
  • Seated behind a luxurious desk was a man of stunning good looks. Even just sitting there, he exuded the powerful aura of a person who had been in power for a long time.
  • “What brings you here?” Gabriel smiled slightly.
  • “Gabriel.” Uriel, her face lit up with a mischievous and adorable smile, hurried to his side, hiding something in her hand.
  • Adriel greeted Gabriel, then settled himself on the couch. He wore an expression of anticipation, looking forward to the drama that was about to unfold.
  • Gabriel took in the mischievous grin on Uriel's face and noticed her hands hidden behind her back. He raised his brows as he asked, “What are you hiding?”
  • “Gabriel, can you guess? There's a prize if you get it right!” Uriel revealed her playful side.
  • “I don't have time for that.” Gabriel's aloof expression remained unchanged. His focus returned to the document in front of him, and he signed it with a powerful stroke.
  • Uriel pouted, then placed a photo of a child in front of him with a smile. “Gabriel, do you think this child is cute?”
  • Gabriel furrowed his brows, inexplicably feeling a sense of familiarity with the child. “What's your point?”
  • Uriel puffed her cheeks. “You have to tell me if he's cute or not first! Please! I really like him.”
  • Gabriel glanced at Uriel. “He's cute. So what are you trying to say?”
  • “Gabriel, what if...” The words reached the tip of her tongue, but she couldn't bring herself to say it immediately. However, seeing the impatience on her brother's face, she finally mustered the courage to say it. “What if this child is your son? Will you believe it?”
