Chapter 11 He's Here
- As Neil walked through the crowd, people moved aside to clear a path.
- At the same time, two figures descended from the upper level Mabel, who, despite her casual outfit, still radiated a noble presence, and William, impeccably dressed in a crisp shirt and dress trousers, his physique impressively built.
- Mabel's eyes flickered with a peculiar light as she observed Lisette below.
- So it really is her!
- Earlier, Neil had called her with a cryptic message. "I have a surprise for you. Bring William here within an hour, and you'll see if William truly cares for you."
- Thus, she had brought William along.
- Neil, you've truly outdone yourself.
- "Heh, who knows where he brought from," Mabel remarked, settling into a nearby sofa with a hint of disdain.
- William, the woman is right there. Aren't you going to rescue her?
- William stood by the railing, his gaze fixed on the scene below.
- His eyes were obscured by a veil of emotion, leaving everyone, even Mabel who had known him for years, unable to discern his thoughts.
- Neil approached Lisette, grabbing her chin roughly. She recoiled in alarm, her eyes wide with fear. "Who are you? What do you want from me?"
- Neil's hand hovered in the air as he grinned, surveying the room. "No wonder she was Mr. Preston's ex-wife—she's quite feisty!"
- Laughter erupted around them.
- Lisette's face drained of color. "I don't understand what you're talking about!"
- She tried to escape, but every path was blocked, and she was shoved to the floor.
- Neil crouched down in front of her, his hand resting lightly on her stomach. "So, Mr. Preston's child is still here."
- "Don't touch me!"
- Lisette trembled, pushing Neil away and cradling her belly protectively. "This is illegal! I'm calling the police! I'm calling the police!"
- "Call the police?" Neil scoffed, clearly amused. "She says she'll call the police?"
- The laughter grew louder, and tears brimmed in Lisette's eyes as the gravity of her situation hit her.
- There was no one to help her.
- She was utterly alone.
- Before she could think of an escape, Neil stood up and announced, "I hear Mr. Preston has been searching for his ex-wife for a long time, hoping to find his child. Now that the child is here, shouldn't we take it out to give to Mr. Preston?"
- He glanced toward the figures on the second floor.
- William.
- "Isn't that right, Mr. Preston?"
- Lisette flinched and slowly lifted her gaze.
- There stood William, dressed in a stark white shirt that contrasted sharply with the grim scene.
- Holding a glass of red wine, his thin lips were slightly parted, and his brows were sharp as swords.
- Even without speaking, his presence exuded authority and command.
- William.
- My husband.
- The man I love most.
- He's here …
- Lisette's heart ached, her nails digging into her palms.
- So, you've been watching all this time, haven't you?
- Mabel looked from William to Lisette, taking in the sight of Lisette's tear-streaked cheeks and red-rimmed eyes, which made her look both pitiful and beautiful.
- Such beautiful eyes, but sadly misplaced.
- "Alright, everyone, find a way to get Mr. Preston's child out. The person who solves this will earn a year's worth of free drinks at the Golden Hour Bar."
- Neil's eyes sparkled with mischief as he addressed the crowd surrounding Lisette.
- No one moved.
- Even though it was known that William and his wife were divorced, the child Lisette carried still belonged to William.
- No one dared to lay a hand on her.
- Neil's smirk widened. "Two years."
- The crowd stayed silent
- "Three years."
- Nobody dared to move.
- The grand hall fell into a heavy silence, with everyone lowering their heads.
- Neil's smile deepened as he looked down, removing his expensive watch and tossing it onto the floor.
- Rolling up his sleeves with a casual air, he declared, "Since none of you have the courage to handle Mr. Preston's problem, I will."
- With that, he delivered a harsh kick to Lisette's belly.
