Chapter 18 Richard - Continuous Disappointment

• I tightened my grip on my phone, running a hand through my hair as I tried to suppress the urge to shout. "What the fucking hell is this, Sarah? You know how Grandmother Willow feels about our weekend dinners. Everyone is waiting downstairs already. What do you mean you can't make it?"
• She exhaled. "Believe me, Richy, I tried. I tried to get away, but there's just so much to do here. We even got a new patient into the theatre a few minutes ago, and I'm supposed to be in there right now. I'm so sorry." She sounded apologetic, but something in my gut felt it wasn't genuine.
• Almost as though she was free but didn't want to come down here for dinner at all.
