Chapter 8

  • Anabelle
  • I opened my eyes, to find myself in a strange room. I looked around and I was laying on a king sized bed, in a big room. I couldn't tell how long it was I slept or probably passed out. But I knew it was long enough for the others to have gotten to their family.
  • Right now, the only thing important to me was to meet my son. How is Liam?, Would He be fine? Would I see him ever again?, Those were the thought that ran through my head right now. I couldn't think straight, I couldn't either comprehend why all this are happening.
  • I tried to get off the bed, only to realize my hands were tied against the headboard. I struggled to free myself but it felt impossible as none of it was working. I looked around, trying to see if I could get anything that might help free me, but all to no avail.
  • "Help," I called out, In a hoarse voice, as a result of my screaming and shouting. I need to get out of here, and most importantly I need to find a way to escape. I just have to, for the sake of Liam, I needed to leave this place as soon as possible.
  • "Please, help.., I'm thirsty," I managed to say when suddenly the door opened and a girl
  • in a maid's uniform walked in with a tray of water. She got close to me and placed the cup in my mouth, while I opened up to ease my dry throat.
  • "Please help me," I said to the girl, who stared at me in pity like I'm in some kind of a mess, I couldn't get out of, as more tears rolled down my eyes...

  • "I still have my doubt boss, I don't think she's capable of such a thing. What if she was framed?, Or probably we are getting the wrong picture here," Yuri said looking at Dimitri with pleading eyes. He was fighting so hard not to lose hope in the woman he was starting to like, he didn't want to agree she was such a person or could even be one. He just wanted to get to the bottom of this issue and find out miraculously that it was indeed a misunderstanding.
  • "Yuri, what do you have me do, you know we'll that wristwatch is important to me, and I don't understand when you suddenly have so much trust in a person you've met for just a few days. Besides, you saw things for yourself, you were there when the whole it occurred, so what exactly are you insinuating?" Dimitri asked in a fit of anger, but he was wise enough to hide it from Yuri.
  • How could he burst out in front of him, definitely he knew Yuri was slowly harboring feelings for her and he couldn't do anything cause of this marriage. He looked at him and then thought of Anabelle eventually liking Yuri making him cringe a bit at the thought of that.
  • "Boss, all I'm saying is that you please give me a moment, a moment to go investigate what happened and I'll come report to you before any other action is taken concerning her," he said looking desperate as he stared at me.
  • "Can you hear yourself speak, you want a moment to go investigate, yet you have no report concerning the incident with the brothels. If you trust yourself that much, why haven't I gotten any reports since the wedding was over, but then a new female popped into your life, and your sense of reasoning has left you," Dimitri was already yelling, his voice wat pitched already, and Yuri at this moment Bit his lips, regretting why he had thought of that.
  • "I'm sorry, boss," he says, hoping to calm Dimitri down...
  • "See, I understand you have an interest in her, but think of it, who would want to set her up and why?" He added with a calmer tone, and Yuri sees a few reason to believe Anabelle was responsible...
  • "Just get back to work, and bring details about the brothels incident," with that being said, Dimitri dismissed him immediately...
  • Yuri walked out of Dimitri's room, he reminisce over what they had discussed and gave it a hard thought. He didn't know whether to disobey his boss and do a proper check for confirmation or just agree to the facts at hand.
  • He sighed as he got close to the room, where she was kept. He stood by the door starting as if she was right in front of him. He sighed heavily, as he pushed the door open to walk in on her struggling and fighting in tears to get lost from there. He turned his face away, unable to look at her and the pain she was going through right now.
  • "Yuri, please help me," she cried out to him, but he laid deaf ears to them...
  • "I swear I didn't do it, I'm telling the truth, please you have to help me, believe me when I say I'm innocent," she cried out, yet again, but he didn't even turn to stare at her, as he walked out from the room leaving her behind...

  • I creamed my body sighing, as the maids assigned to me walked around in search of an outfit that would suit me most. It's been almost two days since I got married into the Russian Mafia family, I haven't had any conversation with my husband per say. He sends the maids to check on me, he makes sure they give me whatever I needed. But we haven't been communicating and neither has he slept here as husband and wife.
  • "I was grateful for that, u didn't care after all I wanted nothing to do with him. But he should not expect me to be a controlling woman who is going to sit in one place and get fed or taken care of all day with her help. I needed to do something that could keep me busy all day," mia thought to herself and our on an old shoulder dress.
  • She was still deep in her thought when Dimitri walked in on her without announcing his arrival. She was startled at first but when she turned to find out it was him, her face was void of all emotions as she turned to look at him.
  • "What do I owe this visit," she said and sat on the bed while he stood there staring at her.
  • "I see you're doing fine adapting to the new environment, which I'm highly glad for because your safety is very essential," he said more like a line nog as he cared.
  • "Well I'm here to fulfill my part of the deal like my father had promised your father, you would be getting your own bodyguards but I'll be introducing you to the one who would hear the others to endeavor your safety always," he said to her, as he sat on the sofa in the room
  • His name is Ivan and he would be in charge of making sure you're secure, Dimitri said to her, and instantly the door of the room opened and a figure walked in, and this time it wasn't any familiar face.
  • "My greetings sir, my greetings ma, sorry for the late arrival, I was held with something important, I'm Ivan by the way," he introduced himself again, as he did a little bow, causing her to gasp in shock.
  • "You," she pointed her fingers staring at him with wide eyes...
  • Mia
  • I wasn't mistaken it when I gasped in shock. His face was absolutely familiar, but I couldn't seem to wrap my hands as to where we both got acquainted. I stare deeply at him as I think harder trying to lay my hands on something that could help me recall but I couldn't.
  • Do you know him? I heard Dimitri's voice, asked me and I nod my head still staring at me, while he kept his head bowed.
  • Where do you know him?, Dimitri asked again and I was silent as I didn't know what to say...
  • "His face is familiar, but I just can't recall how we met, just now, maybe my head is messing up with me," I said squinting my eyes a bit...
  • "It's fine, I'll leave you to and get back to the business of the day, call me if you need anything," he said and left, while I paced around staring at the figure.
  • You, I remember pointing my hands at him, as my memories about him, finally came back to me." You're that stalker from school right, I'm not mistaken, you look just like him," she said confidently while he chuckled.
  • "Took you long enough princess, anyways I'm always at your service and most importantly to keep you save," he said and walked out leaving me dumbfounded for a while. My head couldn't comprehend what was going on, and I took a deep breath calming my nerves down.
  • "I just hope nothing goes wrong and he is really here for my safety," I thought to myself as I slumped on the bed...
  • *
  • The next morning I woke up, to a knock on my door, causing me to rub my eyes as I turned to look around, wondering why the maids were knocking this early.
  • "Come in," I managed to say, and they pushed the door slightly open, as they walked in, and began to open the curtains and dust this place up.
  • "What's going on, why are you all here earlier than usual," I asked them, as I watched them arrange the room, which was already clean...
  • "The Vladamir would be coming to have breakfast with you today, and his mother likes everywhere tidy and clean," one of them responded and continue with her chores.
  • "Prepare my bath, once you're done, I'll need to get ready too," I instructed and pulled the duvet off my body...
  • *
  • I wore a simple dress, as I stare at myself in the mirror in front of me, while the maid continue to comb my hair. I sighed deeply as I thought about what kind of people his family might be.
  • "Would they be nice people or would they treat me terribly?" I thought as I sighed deeply. I looked at my wrist and I stare at the bracelet mom gave to me. It was the only thing making me keep pushing to live in this mansion or continue in this loveless marriage that coexisted between Dimitri and me.
  • "Ma'am, you're all set, I'll guide you to the dining where the others are waiting for you," The maid behind me said, as she brought me out of my thoughts, while I nod my head, giving her permission to lead the way.
  • A few minutes, we arrived at the dining hall, which was downstairs. My nostrils were filled with the beautiful smell is delicacies served on the dining table. I took a deep breath as I walked down the stairs ignoring the eyes that were on me. I missed a step and I thought I would fall and embarrassed myself when I felt a hands grasp my waist and caught me halfway from falling. I raised my head, to know who the person was, only to recognize the face to be that of Ivan.
  • "You look beautiful," he mumbled only to my hearing, as he aid me to my seat, before leaving my sight. I know he was my bodyguard, but it felt so weird to have him compliment me.
  • "I mean back at home, none of my father's men or soilders are even permitted to say a word, and here I am in Russia and a bodyguard could openly throw compliment to his boss," I thought to myself, looking around to see if he was still beside me.
  • "You look so gorgeous, my dear daughter-in-law," an older lady said, whom I presume to be Dimitri's mom as she had sane eyes with him. She looked elegant as well, her skin glowed and she was full of life, so one wouldn't agree she had a son as old as Dimitri.
  • "Thank you ma," I responded and passed a tight smile while she chuckled staring at me.
  • "No need to feel uncomfortable, my dear. I know this is all new and it might take a while for you to fully get acquainted with everyone, but we want to genuinely welcome you to the family," she said and held Mr. Vladamir's hands, as they both pass me a genuine smile.
  • "Thank you again ma," I said as I lifted my head to see Dimitri walking down the stairs and looking a bit troubled...
  • "Just call me mom, 'cause I would sincerely love that," she said while I nod my head and started to have my coffee slowly.
  • "Son, you shouldn't keep your newly wedded bride waiting next time, is that clear," she warned him, with a pitched tone, while he nod his head like an obedient child.
  • Now apologize, she added and he did it, even if he was a bit hesitant. I could tell, that he really loved his mother, maybe that was why he agreed to this truce, for her sake, I thought silently.

  • We were done with breakfast, when Mrs. Vladamir, called myself and Dimitri to the room, saying she had something important to discuss with us. My heart raced as I thought of the kind of conversation it was going to be, I prayed in my heart that it wasn't anything awkward.
  • "I know it sounds weird, calling this urgent meeting, but I wanted you to have this necklace. It has been passed to the woman of this family, and I'm passing it on to you, dear, keep it safe," she explained and handed over a golden necklace, that was clad with pieces of diamonds and Ruby around it.
  • "Thank you so much mom, this is beautiful," I told her sincerely while she squeal at the sound of me calling her mom.
  • "Okay that aside, I also wanted to talk to you both about something else," she added and my heart raced faster as I try to push off whatever my head told me it was.
  • "I just hope it's not what I'm thinking," I said to myself, as I took a deep breath
  • What could Mrs. Vladamir have to say to the newly wedded couple?
