• Before the guards found Aspen, she had dried her tears, and Lance reluctantly left her side to avoid being linked to her brief escape. Thankfully, he also took the weapon she was going to use on Kailin with him. Otherwise, the guards would have found a reason to throw her into the rumoured Cell of Terror, where a deadly Spirit wolf is kept and used to mess with the mind of any prisoner unfortunate to be tossed in that jail.
• “If we find out that there is foul play somewhere,” the Chief guard glared at Aspen when they failed to find anything incriminating on her, “be prepared to pay dearly.”
• Aspen had no strength to react, so she sighed while the guards clasped her hands, cuffed her and mercilessly dragged her back to the cell.
