Chapter 46 The Second Challenge
- Lucy’s POV
- A week of rituals and rituals passed. I would hang out with Katty and we got to know each other better. She was reserved but quite fun to be around once you get to know her. She taught me a few magic tricks and I was grateful. I didn’t know anybody could learn it, I thought it was just for them. This whole process had been so tiring. I prayed that it would pass quickly. It was literally draining me and the fact that I didn’t know what the next challenge would be about was so nerve racking. It was just after breakfast on a Sunday morning and I sat on my bed, hugging my legs lost in thoughts. ‘Knock knock’ A knock brought me back to reality. “Come in” I said my face in between the palms of my hands, facing down. “Hey baby girl!” Aunt said and I lifted my head to look at her. “Hey mama!” I responded. “Are you okay? You look… kind of sad?” she said as she came to sit down on bed with me, rubbing my back. “I was just thinking Auntie, about the whole thing. Wish it could just pass.” I said. She looked at me with pleading eyes as if apologizing for putting me in the predicament. I shook my head and held her hand. “Stop feeling guilty Auntie. We will overcome this.” I comforted her. ‘Knock knock’ “Come on in!” I sung. Katty entered. “Good morning. Mama says to call you both.” She greeted. “Thank you Katty, we’ll be right there.” Aunt said to her. Katty left my room. Aunt turned to me. “Let’s go baby.” I nodded and stood up, straightening my floral dress. We went to the living room where Malena was. “Hey Malena!” Aunt greeted. “Hey princesses!” she greeted back. “Why do your faces look gloomy? Cheer up girls, it will brighten your day.” She said enthusiastically. She seems to be forever cheerful, she is a loveable lady.
- We took our seats next to her and waited to hear what she called us for. “Tomorrow is your next challenge. This time around, it’s not going to be a one day challenge. It’s going to take a few days, depending on how you will do.” She paused for a few minutes. I was a bit confused. I furrowed my eyebrows. “Please explain a bit further Aunt Malena.” I implored. She could tell I was feeling extremely nervous. She took my left hand into hers and gently stroked it. “Don’t worry baby girl, you will be given all the instructions, if you follow them diligently and are very prompt, you will not take longer, but if you don’t pay careful attention to instructions, you may be delayed because you may have to repeat the steps the next day.” She explained. Me and Auntie looked at each other, still confused because she was yet to tell us what the challenge is about that will take days to accomplish. “Don’t worry ladies, the challenge is nothing that hasn’t been done before, you will survive. I can only tell you about it by tomorrow morning as you will be leaving to go on your adventure. “Adventure?” we both sung at the same time looking at each other. She nodded. “Like I said, I can only tell you about it tomorrow morning. I called you here just to inform you so that you can prepare your minds for it. Enjoy your rest, and don’t worry yourselves by thinking too much about it.” She reiterated. We parted ways and I went for a swing in the garden to de-stress.
