Chapter 10 Are You Angry?

  • Penelope felt excited with her eyes lit up.
  • "Okay."
  • "I can't remember clearly when I was fifteen or sixteen. Anyway, on that Christmas, I really wanted to eat turkey because I had never eaten one." She licked her lips as she said, as if she recalled the taste of turkey that year, "So I had an appointment with several children on the street to send out flyers so that everyone could come together to buy turkeys."
  • Penelope smiled and said complacently, "We finally got a turkey without spending a dollar! The couple to whom I sent the newsletter previously quarreled and decided to divorce that day. They overturned all the ingredients in the kitchen. I took the turkey away so that none of us were exposed to a cold wind on the street that year!"
  • "Then I listened to what their neighbors said. It was said that the husband was derailed and caught by his wife." She blinked as if she was fortunate enough to discover it.
  • From Warren's perspective, her smile is so honest. She told stories vividly and repeatedly immersed herself in Christmas with turkeys that year. He can't see any resentment or hatred for her fate on her face. Although her life sounds so hard, she seems to smile at life.
  • "Because it is I who stole the turkey, I ate the most. After that, I didn't have that taste anymore." Penelope doesn't know whether the turkey or the unbridled freedom that year led her to endless aftertastes.
  • "So today, you ate very little turkey," said Warren.
  • "Hush!" She said, "I think this is my eccentricity. Stolen food is the most delicious. Don't tell others."
  • Warren pointed to himself. "I seem to be like others."
  • Penelope paused and said: "Will you drive or make me leave because of this?"
  • "No."
  • Penelope is relieved. Warren continued to say, "But if you dare to steal anything again, then I'm not sure what I will do."
  • Penelope tightened her mouth and decided not to share the story about the robbery with him.
  • He glanced at her and said, "How can you recognize me today?" There are lots of people in this room. She is likely to make a mistake.
  • Penelope smiles wittily like a mouse that stole butter. "Guess?"
  • "You have found a way to remember me."
  • Penelope's smile disappeared. "It's not fun…"
  • There is no mark on Warren's face for Penelope to remember. Unlike other people who have nevus or other characteristics, his face is impeccable as other handsome guys she always mistakes in her memory.
  • But there is one thing that others cannot do. That is, Warren can make her heart pound.
  • "What is your method?" Warren questioned closely.
  • Penelope stood up, wrapped her shawl tightly, and said, "Whatever I say, you can't be angry."
  • "It depends."
  • Penelope began to look around and said, "You are like a thousand-year-old iceberg. I get frozen every time I see you, without exception."
  • Warren was speechless.
  • Penelope. "Are you angry?"
  • He hastily shook his head, "No."
  • Penelope deliberately asked, "Why?"
  • Warren teased her, "Because I know you are talking rubbish."
  • Penelope's eyes open wide, "Oh, you don't believe me."
  • Warren responded drily, "From my perspective, the credibility of your words is not high."
  • "How much?"
  • "Fifty percent." He glanced at her and wanted to see her reaction.
  • Penelope is relieved. "Well, not bad."
  • ****
  • Penelope used to lead a hard life. That's probably why she doesn't feel relaxed when living such a comfortable life. She knew that the future would be harder, especially after the baby was born.
  • Mrs. Brown is setting the plates alongside. She said to Penelope, "Why hasn't Master Asher returned yet? Can he feel reassured leaving you here?"
  • Penelope is doing leg presses on the railing of the stairs. She said, "He will be back next month. I won't stay too long."
  • "Please don't misunderstand. We are happy because we haven't had guests in this house for a long time." Mrs. Brown quickly explained.
  • "Won't Mr. Duncan's girlfriend live here?" Penelope asked casually.
  • Mrs. Brown noticed the man coming downstairs. She said, "I'm now going to the kitchen."
  • Penelope turned her head sideways. Warren is standing there in a light gray tweed suit.
  • Obviously, her gossip is heard. "Do you want to go out?" Penelope took her legs back.
  • He walked down and said, "Is this what you should worry about?"
  • Penelope smiled awkwardly. "I just care about you."
  • "No need." He dropped two words drily, which froze Penelope's hot heart.
  • After having breakfast, Warren went out.
  • The butler considered it very boring for Penelope to stay in the house for a whole day. He suggested Penelope go hang out like other young girls. Even if she is only in the shopping malls, it would be nice.
  • Of course, the young girls the butler is acquainted with are few, Grace is one of them.
  • Penelope stood up from the grass. "Can I go hang out?"
  • "Why not? You are a guest and not a prisoner." The old butler replied humorously.
  • Penelope rolled her eyes poorly and said, "But I do not know where to go..."
  • "You can tell the driver wherever you want to go."
  • "Can I have a driver with me?" Penelope is very surprised.
  • The butler smiled, "I'll arrange it for you. Now you can prepare to go out."
  • "Okay!"
  • Of course, the driver is willing to serve her because Warren drove out on his own today. He is available. The driver thought that young girls like Penelope must be interested in those fun and interesting places. As a qualified leader, he has already asked about the young girls' favorite places, and Penelope will certainly enjoy herself.
  • "Please go to Church Road," Penelope got in the car, saying excitedly.
  • The driver searched for information about Church Road in his mind and couldn't help but say, "There is no shopping mall or amusement park..."
  • "I know. I just want to visit my old school." Penelope said with a smile.
  • "Oh... okay."
  • Throughout the day, from Church Road to Brereton Road, then to High Road, the driver is getting more and more confused.
  • Penelope doesn't stay in each place for a long time. She seems to just leave footprints in these places and does not want to go deep into their history.
  • "Please stop here." Penelope suddenly told him.
  • The driver stopped at the side of the road.
