Chapter 4 Stay Away From Me

  • Noah's POV
  • I didn't see her eyes close but I saw her sway and before I could get to her, she had already hit the ground. I rushed to her, picked her and carefully laid her on the bed. As much as I loved to see her naked and beautiful skin, I knew she wouldn't be happy when she woke up, I quickly dressed her in one of my shirts and covered her with the duvet. I didn't want her waking up while I was dressing her and throwing a fit. I leaned down and brushed a light kiss on her head before tiptoeing out of the room.
  • Down in the living room, I called Jasper.
  • "What's wrong?" He asked immediately he picked up the call.
  • "Why would you assume something was wrong?" I inquired. Jasper was very intrusive so it didn't surprise me that he could tell something was wrong.
  • "You hardly call unless it's an emergency or something is wrong. You're texter." Yes, he is good.
  • I brushed my hair back with my fingers. " So I may or may not have claimed Storm as my mate last night."
  • " WHAT!" He shouted so loud that I move the phone away from my ear.
  • "It just happened."
  • "No, it didn't. I know you, Noah. You're not impulsive, you've known she's your mate for 2 years and you've kept your distance since then, so I'll ask again. What the hell happened?" Jasper was one of my oldest friends if not my oldest friend, he knew me better than I knew myself.
  • There was no need to keep a secret from him, I told him about the previous night's event but left out how Storm reacted this morning.
  • "Damn, that's quite a first encounter. Who did you call to deal with the dead bodies? Are you sure they did a good job? I'm going to have to get down to the club and check. Noah, I'm happy for you." He said, I could imagine the little smile on his face. Jasper was usually stoic and emotionless so I was amazed to hear the joy in his voice.
  • "Thanks, please check it out. I trust them but I need that place to be rid of everything that could implicate me or Storm." I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a glass then poured some water for myself.
  • "You've got it. Later th…"
  • "Hold up, how are things back at the pack?" I was stalling, I wanted to talk to him for as long as I could before having to go face Storm.
  • "Wait a minute, why do you want to know about the pack, we're fine, nothing would happen to us in less than 24 hours. Why would you even think about the pack when you just met your mate? Should you two be going at it like two wolves in heat?
  • "Nothing's wrong. We're fine, very fine." The words flew out of my mouth before I could stop myself. I spoke too soon and I could already tell that Jasper noticed.
  • "Okay, something is definitely wrong. What's going on?"
  • I gave him the rest of the story, I couldn't even bring myself to believe what I was saying.
  • "Damn, that's a lot. What are you going to do?"
  • " I have no idea, all I know is that I need her." I leaned over the kitchen counter and traced my finger over its design.
  • "What if when she wakes up, she demands to leave, what are you going to do then?" His words hit me like a sledgehammer, my Lycan and I didn't like his words. I couldn't let her leave me, I wouldn't.
  • "First things first, she's my mate, she won't want to leave me. We belong together." I said the words to him but it was more as if I was trying to reassure myself.
  • "But what If she does, what are you going to do then?" He asked again. My Lycan was rising, I drank more water to try and cool him off.
  • "She won't." I replied curtly.
  • "But what if she does?" He pressed the issue further.
  • " DAMNIT JASPER, I SAID SHE WON'T." I slammed my fist on the counter nearly causing a dent. I ended the call and flung my phone down the counter. Running my hands through my hair, I took deep breaths to calm down. My Lycan stirred, Storm was awake.
  • Storm's POV
  • My head was banging, it felt like someone was dragging their class against a board in my head. My eyes managed to open and the rays from the sun hit in a reflex I groaned and shut them. I turned my body to the side and opened my eyes again, I looked around the room from the angle I laid it and it was so unfamiliar. How the hell did I get here. I tried to raise my body but it was as if I had been run over by a truck, I closed my eyes and sank back into the plush and soft mattress, I would figure out how I got here later.
  • The door opened and my eyes darted open to see who was coming in, his silhouette was vaguely familiar and all the hairs on my body stood but not in a bad way. He came closer to the light and then rushed to me and knelt by my side.
  • "Storm, thank goddess you're awake. You've been unconscious for over an hour and I was starting to get scared. " He burrowed his head in my neck and inhaled my scent. I inhaled his scent as well and it was all the trigger I needed to remember how the hell I got here. Noah, mate, Lycan, monster, the words rang loud and clear in my head. Like a reflex, I pushed Noah away and rapidly dragged myself, and brought the duvet to cover me.
  • "Stay away from me. " I stretched my hand out in defense. I was not going to let this monster anywhere near me.
  • "Hey, hey, just calm down. Storm, please calm down. I'm just like you. Just a little bit different." He moved closer and I pushed myself further into the headboard trying to enter the wall.
  • "I said STAY AWAY FROM ME," I yelled, looking around for anything I could quickly grab to defend myself. Nothing was close in sight except for the glass of water. I grabbed it, it would have to do.
  • "Storm, please listen to me. I'm your mate. The goddess matched us together. It means we belong together." He didn't move any closer but he was still too close for my liking.
  • I glared at him. " Something must be wrong with the goddess the…"
  • " STORM," he cut me off harshly. " You can insult me but not the goddess." Guilt instantly hit me, I knew I was wrong for that but I was too far gone to care.
  • "Well, I'm not wrong, am I? You're a Lycan, I'm a werewolf, we may be similar but we're very different and the goddess doesn't pair Lycans with werewolves."
  • He moved an inch or so closer, I glared at him but didn't do anything more to stop him.
  • "Well, we must be special then."
  • I waved him off. " Oh spare me that nonsense. I've heard that word so many times, it has lost its appeal and meaning to me. Storm, you didn't shift because you're special. Storm, you can run faster than other wolves your age because you're special. Fuck, being special. I pick being normal over that shit." My eyes burned and tears gathered as I remembered all the times my parents called me special to make me feel better but I knew and they knew that I wasn't special, I was an anomaly.
  • "Damn, Storm, you have quite a dirty mouth. Do you kiss your mother with that mouth? We can't have that now. What should we do about that?" Noah stalked towards me, his eyes dark and focused like a predator with eyes on his prey. The air in the room suddenly thickened and I fisted the duvet over my body, feeling the heat from his eyes rush all over my body. I surprisingly didn't hate it.
  • "What the hell is going on? What are you doing? Are you kidding me? We're having a serious conversation and you're horny. I can't believe it." I spat at him, but he didn't stop though and kept coming closer, I waited until he was close enough then I poured the water on him. He yelped and I almost laughed.
  • "Why the fuck did you do that?" He raised his shirt to wipe his face and I got total permission to ogle at his washboard abs. Damn, he was a fine man. I imagined myself running my fingers over those packs while their owner did unimaginable things to me. I clenched my legs in reflex. Noah stopped what he was doing and looked at me with a smirk on his face.
  • "Do you like what you see? Do you want to touch them?" He asked cockily. I narrowed my eyes at him, how could he tell.
  • "How did you know?" I asked.
  • "I could feel your eyes on me and I could also smell your arousal. You can try to deny it but you and I both know the truth."
  • " Look, Noah. This has been fun but I need to go. Whatever happened last night was clearly a mistake, a blimp. I have to get my apartment and then to work." I quickly changed the subject. I looked around for my clothes, I was dressed in Noah's shirt but I couldn't see my clothes anywhere.
  • "I'm sorry but that's not possible. I can't let you leave."
