Chapter 3 An Ignorant Child
- A group of police walked into the room before the woman and Griffin realized what was going on. "Griffin, you are being arrested for commercial fraud, collusion with gangsters, and harassment toward citizens. You've been in our radar for quite some time now. Come with us."
- "Mr. Baker," the chief police officer saluted Sebastian.
- "Sir." Sebastian stood up and returned with a traditional military salute.
- As the king of soldiers, he had now officially returned to Soviani to serve for the country.
- He was on a world-class level in both his abilities and the qualities a soldier should possess.
- Never once had he bullied the weak and he would not have broken Griffin's arm had he not mentioned his mother twice in a row.
- "What on earth is going on here?" Griffin was still confused on the ground.
- "You'll understand what's going on when you come with us." The police officer pulled him up.
- Sebastian lit a cigarette and stared in a daze at the office furnishings.
- The pretty lady had yet to leave and she was terrified as she looked at Sebastian, who had cold eyes and a harmless face.
- Noah Sydney was her name and she joined the company a year ago. Griffin hired her because she was beautiful and made her his secretary, who held a high position among other employees.
- Now that Griffin had been caught breaking the law, she assumed that she had to leave the company as well.
- With no idea who Sebastian was, she presumed that he was merely a famous man whom she had never heard of. Staring at the man, she sighed secretly. After all, it was not easy being the secretary of such a large corporation, but since Sebastian was taking over the company, she had no choice but to leave.
- "Is your name Noah Sydney?" Sebastian piped up unexpectedly.
- "Yes." The stunning lady turned around in surprise and nodded solemnly.
- "I reviewed your resume. You graduated with a master's degree in business administration from University of Yalvord. You're talented. Are you Griffin's romantic partner?" he inquired indifferently.
- "No way." Noah blushed and lowered her head timidly.
- "President Parker likes me a lot, but he's a bad person, so there's no way I can be with him. The Montes Group is the largest company in Rithfield with assets worth tens of billions. I work as a secretary by his side and earn five million per year. It's difficult to find a better job than this anywhere else, so I've been tailing him in the hopes of making some money."
- "I'd like to see Montes Group reach new heights within a month," Sebastian uttered.
- "Huh?" Noah blinked in confusion.
- "I, Sebastian, am not short on cash. I'm acquiring the Montes Group, which is my parents' hard work and legacy. From now on, you will be the president of the Montes Group and you'll be paid an annual salary of fifty million." Sebastian stood up and left after leaving his phone number on a piece of paper.
- In the afternoon, he went to visit the Evans Family.
- Ten years ago, the Evanses were a powerful middle-class family in Rithfield. Sebastian's father and Wyatt Evans had always been best friends while Sebastian and Sandy had been arranged to wed since they were kids. After his parents died, he sought help from the Evanses but only to be met with a divorce letter and no assistance.
- Sebastian trembled as he stood outside the Evans Residence, clutching the yellowed divorce letter. He and Sandy both grew up together and had a close relationship.
- Sandy was only fourteen years old when he went abroad as a mercenary at the age of eighteen.
- A decade flickered by and Sandy kept him in her thoughts regardless of the moving time. He could not help but wonder what kind of lady she had grown into today.
- There were many people sitting in the Evans Residence when Sebastian walked in with a gift. Wyatt looked exactly the same as he did ten years ago. Talking with his family, he dropped his cigarette when he saw Sebastian's appearance.
- "Stu?" Wyatt's eyes were bright red.
- "Hello, Mr. Evans." Sebastian acknowledged with a small nod.
- Old Madam Evans was in charge of the Evans Family back then, giving her the final say in all family matters. Wyatt was the Evanses' third son and possessed a weak personality. He had always supported Sebastian and Sandy, but it was unfortunate that he lived with Old Madam Evans ten years ago, so he was unable to help Sebastian.
- The shock in Wyatt's heart as he saw Sebastian approaching suddenly was beyond description.
- "Stuart?" Charlotte was taken aback as well when she saw Sebastian.
- She was Wyatt's wife, who was in her forties now. Despite her age, she still looked great with her graceful figure and elegant gown.
- There were also two girls and a boy at home, one of whom was Sebastian's engaged wife, Sandy. The other was Mandy, his future sister-in-law.
- However, Sebastian had never met the boy.
- "Where have you been for the last ten years, Stu? I've been looking for you. I awfully regret not being able to help you at the time." After stomping on the cigarette on the ground, Wyatt dashed over to Sebastian and encircled him with his arms.
- Sandy stood up as well and her beautiful eyes were filled with excitement as she looked at Sebastian.
- She was a stunning woman with a gorgeous appearance and a perfect figure. Her skin was snow-white and her long, soft, black hair was slightly pulled back. She was slender and tall, with a pair of toned legs looming beneath the skirt.
- Though Sebastian had a vague memory of Sandy's visage, he did not expect her to be this stunning.
- Such beauties were pleasing to the eye simply by looking at them, let alone marrying them.
- "I've had a good ten years, Mr. Evans." Sebastian hugged Wyatt and smiled.
- "You've lost weight, but you're looking good!" Wyatt smiled as he patted Sebastian on the shoulder.
- "You look great as well, Mr. Evans." Sebastian grinned.
- "Ahem!" Charlotte let out a loud cough.
- She slapped the coffee table hard and locked her gaze on Sebastian and Sandy.
- The Evans Family canceled their engagement ten years ago; while the initiator was Old Madam Evans, Charlotte was also in support of that decision. Nobody knew where Sebastian had gone all these years. Hence, she simply assumed that he was left with no assets, money, or family and that he was no longer worthy of the Evanses.
- I guess my future mother-in-law is a snobbish and ruthless one.
- "We're discussing important business right now!" Charlotte exclaimed.
- "Oh, right. We're having a family meeting right now. Stu, since you're familiar with the Montes Group, please sit down and offer some of your opinions," Wyatt invited, smiling.
- "What happened to the Montes Group?" inquired Sebastian.
- "You must be unaware of this. The Evans Family has been suffering for the past few years. Old Madam Evans learns that there is a transfer in the business ownership and the Montes Group has been taken over by a guy named Sebastian."
- "Sebastian is extremely capable and powerful. He took out five billion to clear the debts of the Montes Group. The new president, Noah, was also competent. We are wondering if we can cooperate with the Montes Group and work on some key projects they have. The Montes Group is worth tens of billions, and if we're able to take on some projects, our family is gonna rise from the ashes!"
- "Sandy and Mandy, do you have the confidence to cooperate with the Montes Group?" Charlotte questioned.
- "The Montes Group is the top company in Rithfield and it has assets of tens of billions. The new owner of the company has a mysterious background while the previous boss, Griffin, was already difficult to deal with. Sebastian must be a wealthy young man from some upper-class family and he's sure not someone we can easily handle. So no, I don't have any confidence." Sandy shook her head.
- "I haven't even graduated from university yet. If Sandy has no confidence, let alone me," Mandy complained.
- "Useless!" Charlotte scolded.
- Hearing this, Sandy bit her lip lightly while Mandy also lowered her head and fiddled with her skirt.
- "Sigh. The Montes Group has a new owner now. There's an astronomical number of companies that want to cooperate with the Montes Group. If we can't bag a contract now, we won't have a chance in the future," Wyatt lamented.
- "What's more terrifying is that the other two elder sons of Old Madam Evans are on their toes already. If we can't get the contract while they get it, we are basically incompetent! It's not like you don't know the virtues of those two families. If they step on our heads, they will definitely crush us!" Charlotte expressed anxiously.
- Meanwhile, Sebastian was taken aback by the Evans Family's discussion. It turns out that they want to cooperate with me and my company. Hm.
- Words indeed spread quickly; he had only taken over the Montes Group in the morning and they were already discussing their partnership with the new boss by the afternoon.
- Despite the Evanses' ruthlessness, Wyatt and Sandy were both very nice to him.
- It was possible for him to propose to Sandy while also assisting the Evans Family at the same time.
- "Aunt Charlotte, if you want to work with the Montes Group, I can help you with that," Sebastian offered.
- …
- Everyone was shocked by his words.
- "What's the matter?" asked Sebastian.
- "Who are you to voice out? Get out!" Charlotte exclaimed and shooed him.
- "Hahaha! Stop joking, Stuart. The Montes Group is the biggest company in Rithfield and the new boss is extremely mysterious and honorable. There's no way you can help us." Mandy laughed.
- "If it had been Griffin, I would have believed what you said, but it's a new boss now! Save the jokes," Wyatt said while shaking his head and smiling.
- At that moment, he became rather disappointed with Sebastian. He did not care whether Sebastian was wealthy or not; all that mattered was Wyatt's relationship with Sebastian's father. Therefore, Wyatt would let her daughter marry Sebastian if Sebastian still had feelings for Sandy.
- Even if Sebastian was penniless, Wyatt was happy to have him as his son-in-law regardless.
- However, in his eyes, Sebastian had barely changed; he was still as naive and ignorant as he had been ten years before.
- Whatever.
- I'll just dismiss him as an ignorant child.
