Chapter 13 Dominic's Challenge
- The women of the Evans Family were all very stunning with Sandy inheriting all of Wyatt and Charlotte's best features, granting her the perfect figure and a beautiful face.
- Naturally, Alexis and Mandy had their own merits as well, for Alexis had a dignified aura, tall figure and a pair of bright eyes.
- At that point, she had finished appraising the watch and her heart was beating wildly.
- This Patek Philipe is the real deal that costs tens of millions!
- Being a historical major, she had a lot of knowledge in arts and vintages, so she believed in her own judgment.
- Meanwhile, Sandy saw her sister sitting there in shock with her mouth slightly agape.
- Didn't Stuart give me a fake? Why is Alexis so shocked?
- "This reminds me that my daughter is an expert appraiser. Now that you've married into money, you should be more knowledgeable now. Take a look at my crystal bracelet." Wyatt smiled while taking out his bracelet.
- Bomf. Suddenly, Jeremy slumped onto the floor.
- Looking at the bracelet, Alexis nearly dislocated her jaw from opening it so widely.
- Wyatt, who did not know much about jewelry, only liked crystals, sandalwood and such common material like amber, so he had never seen real pink diamonds before.
- This isn't a crystal bracelet. This is the best of the best diamonds! These are the pink diamonds!
- It was said that pink diamonds account for less than five percent of total diamonds available on the market. Just by wearing it, one can state how high their position was in society. Not only was it rare for one pink diamond to appear, Wyatt actually had a full bead bracelet made from it!
- Retrieving the bracelet with trembling hands, Alexis shined on it using the ultraviolet light.
- It's real!
- Even if one spent over hundreds of millions, they might not even get a bracelet made out of it!
- Who did they get acquainted with? Why is Dad wearing such a priceless item while Sandy has such an extravagant watch?
- "Honey, this pink diamond looks like the exact one we appraised last time." Jeremy stood up with a pale face, breathing heavily.
- Being a spoiled rich brat who only knew how to fool around, Jeremy possessed close to no business aptitude. However, he was an expert in seeking out luxury goods.
- "Jeremy, we have two more watches like the one Sandy is wearing. They were all bought by Stuart. Both you and I have one." Mandy smiled and took out the two watches upon seeing how Alexis looked.
- "What?" Alexis was horrified.
- Quickly, she appraised the two watches.
- When she looked at them, her face grew even paler as though she felt strength leaving her limbs.
- Deep inside, Sebastian breathed a sigh of relief.
- Finally, someone who knows their stuff.
- Even though he was not short on money, he did find it heartbreaking that the Evanses threw away his gifts, which he selected carefully. After all, it was still an insane amount of money to purchase them; it would have been better off to donate that sum of money to the needy than to spend it on those who did not appreciate it.
- "Alexis, I remembered that Stuart bought a gemstone necklace for me once. I forgot where I placed it. Could you help me take a look? I'll go find it now." Charlotte started to look for the tourmaline necklace Sebastian gave her.
- "There's no need for that." With a calm gaze, Alexis pushed the luxury goods in front of her away.
- "These are just high imitation goods."
- Sebastian, who was about to smoke a cigarette, choked upon listening to her words as Alexis gazed at him with contempt.
- If it's some business mogul who sent them, then they must be real.
- But since they are from Stuart, then these must be fake.
- Looking at the cheap sports attire he's in, I bet he's had a hard time living for the past ten years. So how could he possibly afford such luxuries?
- Yet, what Alexis did not know was that Sebastian's wealth could rival an entire nation's, even though he lived an extremely ordinary life. He was willing to give his father-in-law a pink diamond bracelet that was worth a billion and a salary of thirty thousand per month for his subordinates; the only person he did not want to spend money on was himself.
- Just as Sebastian thought that the Evanses were starting to see himself in a different light, he was once again mocked mercilessly by Alexis.
- "Hahaha. Stuart sure knows how to pick gifts, eh? Even an expert appraiser like you was nearly deceived." Wyatt laughed.
- "Just a couple thousand worth." Alexis grunted.
- "Alright. Let's stop talking now. Shall we have our dinner?" Wyatt smiled while standing up.
- By then, their dinner was already prepared. Since Charlotte was not a skilled cook, most of the dishes were takeout and she only cooked some simple dishes before calling it a day. While eating, Jeremy took out the watch that Sebastian gave Alexis and looked at it from time to time.
- "Dear, there's something fishy here. I know that Stuart is poor, but this watch looks genuine no matter how I see it. Can this be real?"
- "You think he can afford them?" Alexis sneered coldly.
- "Alright then." Jeremy observed the watch again.
- He put the watch in his pocket while sneaking a glance at Sebastian. Seeing how he was wearing cheap clothing from retail stores, he did not seem like a rich man in any way.
- But, if this watch is real, then we'll need to see him in a different light.
- Jeremy decided to appraise this when he returned home because all luxury goods like this have a serial number on them. Since they noted every piece they produced, the watchmaker would never make a mistake.
- After dinner, Sebastian excused himself and left.
- The next day, he no longer spent time at the Evanses; instead, he went to the company in the morning before returning to the garrison in the afternoon. Then, the day of Sandy's birthday finally arrived.
- Waking up early, Sebastian decided to go through his Taichi routine.
- Reciting the manual in his head, he performed a very imposing set of movements. When he struck with his fist in the last move, a shockwave emerged from it, causing the surrounding air to disperse around him as a straight line was dug in the ground from the direction of his fist.
- This was real martial arts.
- Sebastian had long mastered the martial art to the point where people who reached his proficiency could be counted on two hands.
- "Sharp moves!" Dominic bellowed before appearing behind Sebastian. Seeing what Sebastian could do only flared up his thirst to battle with him.
- Dominic Ward entered the army at the age of fifteen and was chosen into the Divine Dragon Brigade. After retiring, he was sent to the Rithfield Garrison to guard it. Hence, he did not think that he would be any weaker than Sebastian, who returned from abroad.
- From all the martial arts, the oldest and purest belonged to Soviani. He made it his mission to at least defeat Sebastian once.
- "The money is ready. Tonight is Sandy's birthday, so order the men to send it to the Evanses," Sebastian calmly ordered.
- "Sebastian, let's have a battle." Dominic had a determined gaze.
- "I'm beneath you." Sebastian walked toward the villa entrance.
- "You lie!" Dominic was enraged. "Sebastian, you might be a mercenary at heart, but you're also considered a man of the army. Our people are born to battle, or are you a chicken?"
- His words altered the gaze of Sebastian as he silently looked at Dominic with unknown thoughts.
- "If you're a real man, then fight seriously with me once. I'm not convinced until I see what you're really capable of!" Dominic growled.
- "I'm not capable at all. I just happen to have a bit of influence." Sebastian regained his calmness.
- "You useless trash!"
- At that moment, Dominic suddenly sent a kick toward him. Caught off guard, Sebastian flew a few meters away because of his attack.
