Chapter 1249 A Conversation Between Mother And Daughter
- The terrain became increasingly steep from the Central Skyward Gate. Past the quaintly shaped Cloud Steps, through the tranquil Pine Pavilion surrounded by ancient trees, and walking through the stone-like Sunlight Cave, the journey from Pine Hill to Southern Skyward Gate was no more than a kilometer. However, it required climbing thousands of stone steps, with a relative height of several hundred feet, almost vertical up and down. This was the most challenging part of the ascent up Mount Goliath, known as the Eighteen Curves. The three Eighteen Curves had one that was slow, another that was tight, and the last one that was neither slow nor tight. The Eighteen Curves began with a vertical ladder, daunting to look at. There was a local saying that upon reaching the Eighteen Curves, a chill would run through the traveler's heart.
- Cressida was the weakest among them; she simply couldn't climb any further. Jonathan then suggested, “How about this? I'll hold onto Cressida and Ms. Catherine's hands. While, Ms. Thornton, you hold onto their hands, and we'll climb this way.”
- “You'll be carrying the weight of three!” Cressida teased with a playful smile.
