Chapter 11 The Prestons' Dinner

  • Whitney's cheeks were burning with shame. Oscar's stare was so intense that she felt completely degraded. Just the night before, she had been so condescending toward him, even looking down on him for singing along with her. But now, she had no choice but to stand there, completely at his mercy.
  • "By the way, when you're asking for a favor, you should adopt the right attitude, right?" Oscar said nonchalantly.
  • Whitney immediately grasped his point.
  • She had once claimed that if she ever needed to beg him for something, she would get on her knees and call him 'Daddy'.
  • Her face flushed a deeper red. After a brief hesitation, she got on her knees before Oscar. Clutching his leg, she bit her thin lips and stammered, "D-daddy ...
  • "I was wrong. Please spare me!"
  • "Good." Oscar patted Whitney's head with a smirk.
  • "I don't want any of this to be made public. Got it?"
  • "Y-yes, I got it!"
  • Even though Whitney had no clue what Oscar was planning, she kept nodding vigorously.
  • "I won't say a word about what happened today!"
  • Oscar looked at her for a moment. Despite Whitney's materialistic nature, she wasn't a bad person at her core.
  • With that in mind, he replied coolly, "I won't fire you for this. But as for a promotion, I need to see what you can do first."
  • With that, Oscar dismissed Whitney and turned his attention elsewhere. He had just taken over the company and was still trying to get a handle on its operations. He didn't have time to waste on her.
  • Even though Whitney was attractive, Oscar had encountered many beautiful women. His wife, Mandy, was far more beautiful.
  • ...
  • Dalton Investment Company had a new CEO who had halted all existing investment projects and added 750 million for high-quality investments.
  • This announcement was a bombshell, quickly spreading throughout Wavecrest. It was clear that it marked a major shift in the local power dynamics.
  • Any family that could align themselves with the new CEO of Dalton Investment Company at this moment would have a chance to rise to the top of Wavecrest!
  • The Prestons weren't about to sit idly by. Norman immediately called for a family dinner and demanded everyone be present.
  • Mandy called Oscar, urging him to come home quickly to attend the dinner with her.
  • When Oscar arrived home, she was already in her Mercedes-Benz, impatiently checking her phone.
  • "Sorry, Honey, I'm late," he said, jogging over to her.
  • Mandy was wearing a dress that cinched at the waist, adorned with a unique rose brooch on her chest.
  • "Morsenspir's Heart?" Oscar's eyes widened slightly. He recognized the brooch and was surprised that Mandy liked it so much.
  • With that thought, he smiled happily.
  • However, Mandy was looking at him with disapproval, saying coldly, "If you keep staring at me like that, I'll gouge your eyes out—"
  • "Okay, okay, I won't look at you anymore!" Oscar quickly averted his gaze, startled that she noticed it.
  • "Also, tonight is the Prestons' dinner. I need you to be quiet, keep a low profile, and not embarrass our family."
  • "Got it." Oscar got into the car, but before he could buckle his seatbelt, he heard a harsh comment from behind.
  • "Oscar, are you going to dinner in these ragged clothes? It's smelly! Did you get those clothes from a dumpster?" Lillian looked increasingly displeased. She was fed up with her son-in-law.
  • At that moment, she was in a short dress, showing off her long, slim legs. She looked mature, sexy, elegant, and attractive.
  • In comparison, Oscar's casual attire seemed quite shabby.
  • He chose not to argue and simply smiled.
  • Seeing his lack of reaction, Lillian's anger boiled over. "How could my daughter end up with someone like you? It's a disgrace to our family!"
  • "Mom, please calm down. You're smudging your makeup," Mandy said, sighing as she drove. She had no comments on Oscar's appearance.
  • "Calm down? Look at other people's sons-in-law, and then look at mine!" Lillian pointed at Oscar. "Don't think that staying silent will fix everything. First thing tomorrow, go to the city hall and get a divorce. Here's your compensation!"
  • With that, she pulled out a stack of hundred-dollar bills from her purse and slapped them onto Oscar's face.
  • He remained motionless as if he didn't care.
  • Mandy felt a pang of reluctance but was so frustrated by Oscar's indifferent demeanor that she nearly lost her composure. If only he would show a bit of spirit, she wouldn't be so embarrassed.
  • Struggling to control her anger, she resisted the urge to throw him out of the car.
  • ...
  • At the entrance of the Preston Residence, luxury cars were lined up, and the hall was packed with people.
  • Mandy's younger sister, Skylar, had arrived in her school uniform, likely because she hadn't had time to change after school.
  • The uniform accentuated her youthful charm, causing many men to glance over appreciatively. The Preston sisters were indeed stunning, and Skylar would undoubtedly be more attractive when she grew older.
  • As the Prestons took their seats, numerous relatives came over to greet them. In this crowded scene, Oscar seemed to be invisible, with no one paying him any attention.
  • He didn't mind. His status within the Prestons was low. He was there to enjoy himself and eat as much as possible.
  • However, someone was determined to make things difficult for Oscar. Skylar, sitting next to him, coldly remarked, "You useless fool! From tomorrow on, you'll be out of our family!"
