• Janie Curtin lay in her bedroom with her pillow pulled over her head as her mother raged in the living room. Her mother, as usual, was being a total bitch, giving her stepfather Ethan no opportunity to get a word in edgewise. Vanessa Fields was not easy to get along with under normal circumstances, and when she was in a rage, she was impossible. Tonight she was in a rage because Ethan had refused to ground eighteen-year-old Janie for being ten minutes late on a Saturday night date…and Janie had even taken a picture of Sean changing the flat tire.
