Chapter 6 Uncovering The Bully Who Tormented Mommy
- Jordan softened his gaze as he sipped his wine. It was as if he had nothing to do with the situation.
- Despite Lauren's seductive glances, she received no acknowledgment from him.
- Tension filled the air of the living room.
- Zayn sat in the middle of the room. He felt like he was being pulled into the vortex from both sides. The conversation was initially about his misdeeds, but it now seemed like he was the third party.
- At this moment, Shannon subtly suggested, "Jordan, you're so preoccupied with your work that you barely had time to educate Zayn. I told you to marry Lauren. That way, she can take care of Zayn in the Dawson Residence. A stable family is important for a child."
- Years ago, she had hoped for a marriage between the Dawson and the Price Family. She never thought that Jordan would marry Nora on a whim.
- Shannon had made considerable effort to drive Nora away. Just when she thought she could secure Lauren's position, Jordan refused the remarriage.
- "Mom, it's just a one-night stand. How can we pressure the Princes' daughter into a marriage with me?"
- Jordan chuckled with a carefree and nonchalant demeanor.
- Shannon furrowed her brow as she cautioned, "Jordan, mind your status and be a good role model for Zayn."
- Yet each proposal of hers was dismissed, leaving her unable to place her trusted aides by Jordan's side.
- Lauren's indifference towards Zayn was palpable. Her gaze only lingered on Jordan the entire time.
- "If you're too busy, I could bring Zeran to stay with us at the Price Residence for a few days. You could visit him there as well."
- He was known for his noble status and unrivaled power. Lauren found herself drawn not only to his authority but also to his undeniable allure.
- Zayn pursed his lips as he gazed at his father. His eyes were strikingly similar to those of him.
- Internally, he resisted the idea. He harbored a deep-seated aversion towards his mother.
- Yet, he never wanted to be abandoned.
- Jordan's gaze shot up abruptly. His eyes pierced coldly as he addressed, "Why should a Dawsons' child reside at the Price Residence? I have made it clear from the beginning. Once you return Zayn to me, I acknowledge his lineage. He no longer has any ties to the Price Family."
- "Mr. Jordan, I—" Lauren's mind raced to find words of explanation as she faltered in the face of his unexpected anger.
- Yet, he never gave her a chance to speak.
- "Mom, if there's nothing else, please accompany Ms. Price on her way home. I have dinner to attend." Jordan stated icily and left without a glance.
- As Lauren watched his retreating figure, a flicker of resentment passed through her.
- I deserve a perfect man like him. I am the daughter of the Price Family. I will get what I want!
- After they left the residence, Shannon took her hand and reassured her with a warm smile. "Lauren, be patient. You have no rival in the Dawson Family. As long as you continue to be Zayn's mother, one day you'll get to marry Jordan. I'm on your side."
- Lauren smiled brightly in response. "I look forward to the day when I can rightfully call you 'Mother'."
- When everyone had departed, the living room was left with only Zayn.
- Despite the uproar he had caused, he faced no consequences.
- Shortly afterward, a servant approached cautiously. "Young Master, would you like something to eat?"
- Zayn's hands were clenched into fists. His eyes were red and filled with a mix of frustration and hurt.
- "No, just leave me alone!"
- The Young Master is throwing a tantrum again.
- The servants shook their heads in disdain as they sought to flee the scene.
- Silence reigned heavily in the expansive grandeur of the Dawson Residence. Zayn stood at the center of the room, utterly alone with no one by his side.
- No matter how much he acted out or sought attention, it seemed that he could never gain the care and attention he desired.
- He stormed away and retreated to the sanctuary of his own room.
- The room was intricately furnished. The bedding was adorned with an array of toys.
- Zayn never looked around. Instead, he ran to seek refuge in a small, makeshift tent tucked in a corner.
- He hugged his knees close. The tent seemed to shrink around him, creating a sense of security that soothed his troubled heart.
- Amidst the empty darkness, Zayn withdrew a small handkerchief from his pocket.
- It was a memento left behind by the angelic lady in the hotel room. When he found it, he had instinctively hidden it away.
- He was drawn to the scent that reminded him of the mother's warmth he longed for.
- Tears streamed down as he closed his eyes. He couldn't help but envy those who knew the tender love of both father and mother.
- To him, Lauren was never a mother.
- It was four o'clock in the morning. Jordan had returned to Dawson Residence.
- He had chosen this early hour deliberately. From the moment he stepped through the gate, his movements had been monitored and reported.
- The servants greeted him by the door, but he waved them aside with a silent gesture.
- Every light in the grand residence blazed brightly, except for the ones in Zayn's room.
- Jordan pushed the door open only to find an empty bed. He immediately knew that his son was nestled in the tent.
- The room remained cloaked in darkness. Only a beam of faint light filtered in through the hallways. The softness of his features while gazing at his son was blurred by the illumination.
- "You asleep?"
- Zayn suffered from severe insomnia. He was already consulting a psychiatrist at this young age.
- Jordan lowered himself to the floor. His legs were stretched out casually as he settled beside Zayn. With warmth and tenderness, he caressed his son's head with his palm.
- Five years ago, Lauren arrived at the Dawson Residence while holding a child. She claimed that it was her own. Jordan proceeded to have the child's DNA tested.
- The results confirmed that the child was his. However, he also discovered that Lauren was not Zayn's biological mother.
- For all these years, he had played along with the deception of Shannon and Lauren. Together, they had spun a web of lies that led him to believe that Lauren was his one-night stand.
- Deep within him, a gnawing uncertainty persisted. He never found out about the women he encountered that night.
- He was determined to search for Zayn's biological mother.
- "Mommy…"
- Zayn murmured in his sleep, not realizing that the warmth he felt came from his father.
- "Daddy will heal you. I will find your Mommy for you." Jordan made his promise.
- He leaned down and lifted Zayn gently. He then placed him on the bed, tucking him in snugly.
- Jordan had grown up without a mother. He was determined to not let his son suffer from the same fate.
- …
- Night had fallen over the modest apartment.
- Nora found herself facing a barrage of questions from her children.
- "Mommy, how did you get kidnapped at the charity banquet?"
- "I wasn't exactly kidnapped. It's just some bad guys," explained Nora as her gaze flickered away.
- "Mommy, you're wearing a bathrobe. Did the bad guys bully you?"
- "No, no, nothing like that. My dress tore because of its poor quality."
- Nora was eager to steer her children's thoughts away from the night's unsettling events. "I'll be more careful from now on. Don't worry, my loves. It's getting late, you both should go to bed."
- "Okay. Goodnight, Mommy."
- Hudson and Julia's faces were lit up with reassuring smiles.
- As soon as Nora returned to her room, the siblings exchanged a glance and then hid under the covers for a private conversation.
- "Hudson, I think Mommy lied."
- "Yeah, she probably didn't want us to worry about her."
- "Does that mean Mommy is in danger? We need to protect her."
- Julia placed her hands on her hips and declared. Her adorable face was set in a determined and pouty expression.
- Upon hearing this, Hudson pondered for a moment and nodded. "We've only been back in the country for two days, and Mommy has already encountered all the bad things. There must be a big bad guy behind it. We need to find him and get revenge for Mommy."
- …
- The next morning, Jordan sat in the CEO's office of Dominion Group.
- His desk was buried under a pile of documents. His breakfast consisted of nothing but a cup of black coffee.
- As Luca appeared in his office, he couldn't help but state, "As a doctor, I must stress that irregular eating habits are destroying your health."
- "My health has long been ruined. Can't blame my irregular eating habit," Jordan replied calmly. His face betrayed no emotions.
- Luca fell silent. He was acutely aware that he had been his personal psychiatrist ever since the beginning.
- "Here's the footage of last night's charity banquet. It's from the identity verification department. Luna was only captured in this clip, but her face is not visible. It seems that finding her won't be an easy job."
- As Jordan turned on the footage, his eyes lit up from just a glance of the video.
- A figure dressed in an aqua-blue backless gown caught his attention. It was Luna. The woman he laid a finger on last night.
- "What a pleasant surprise. Yet another reason to pursue her."
- Luna was none other than Nora Clarke.
