Chapter 6 Please Help Me Out
- The next morning, the director informed Elena that she did not have to be in charge of Raphael anymore. Instead, she was assigned to another patient in a VIP room. Coincidentally, it was right beside Raphael's room.
- Elena had encountered many difficult patients in the past, but never as difficult as the new one.
- “Does it hurt here?” Through his hospital gown, Elena pressed on the man's chest area.
- “Not there. It's lower.”
- “Here?”
- “Lower.”
- Elena's hand was already pressing on the man's stomach. If I go lower...
- She knitted her brows and snapped, “Mr. Quick, your medical record states that your heart is unwell. That's why you're hospitalized for monitoring. If you're feeling uncomfortable in the lower parts of your body, then it could be a prostate problem. I can get a urology specialist for you if needed.”
- Terrence Quick had pressed the button about eight times in just one morning. Every time, he would complain about pain in different parts of his body. Moreover, he kept insisting on having Elena examine him instead of the nurses.
- “There's no need for that. It's a minor problem,” he said. Suddenly, he grabbed Elena's arm and started caressing her wrist. “Dr. Truman, you've got such pretty hands.”
- His perverted gaze disgusted Elena so much that she almost vomited her dinner from last night. She withdrew her hand as if she was electrified. “Mr. Quick, it looks like you're fine. I'll be heading out now.”
- With that, Elena stormed out without looking back. It was better to avoid Terrence when she could not afford to mess with him.
- The moment she stepped out of the room, a familiar figure approached her.
- Raphael had just returned from his gastroscopy. Somehow, there were no nurses beside him.
- The air seemed to freeze as they met each other's gazes.
- Elena was still frozen with shock when Terrence's voice rang out from behind her. He had come running after her. “Hey! Where are you going? You're not done examining me. I'm going to file a complaint against you if you don't do your job.”
- The thought of Terrence touching her hand made her shudder. In a state of panic, she rushed toward Raphael and held his arm, asking, “Mr. Gardner, are you okay?”
- With a cold gaze, Raphael slowly lifted his head, shifting his gaze from her arm, which was wrapped around his, to her face. His glare made Elena panic.
- “Dr. Truman—” Terrence stepped out of the room. However, he halted in his tracks the moment he saw Raphael. “Mr. Gardner? What are you doing here?”
- Most people who could afford to pay for the VIP rooms were of the same social hierarchy. Hence, it was not strange for Terrence to be acquainted with Raphael.
- Elena threw Raphael a pleading glance.
- Please help me out!
- The Elena Raphael remembered was a cheerful, outgoing, and enthusiastic woman. Though she always worked hard in her studies and at her job, she was someone who would show her weakness to her lover. She was practically a perfect example of an ideal girlfriend.
- Even till that day, Raphael still could not bring himself to reject Elena when faced with her pitiful gaze.
- Raphael furrowed his brows and said flatly, “I'm not feeling well. I asked her to take me back to my room.”
- “Oh. I see. Please send Mr. Gardner to his room then, Dr. Truman.”
- Elena nodded and helped Raphael back to his room, her heart racing.
- She only asked Raphael for help out of desperation. Thus, she did not think much about it. By the time she returned to her senses, she had found it surprising that Raphael was willing to help her.
- Perhaps he doesn't hate me that much?
- “Slow down,” she said. After helping Raphael to sit on his bed, she straightened her back, saying, “Thank you for your help earlier. I'll... get going now.”
- “Wait.”
- The voice behind her sounded as cold as the north wind in winter. It could send chills down the spines of anyone who heard it.
- Hearing that, Elena stopped in her tracks.
