Chapter 5 Who Is The Father

• Elena has a child? Who's the father? Is she married? Or is it because of what those people did to her seven years ago?
• At that moment, a myriad of speculations fleeted across Vanessa's mind.
• If Raphael hears about this...
• When Vanessa recalled Raphael's reaction after seeing Elena, uneasiness filled the former's heart.
• I cannot let Elena stay in Horington.
• Meanwhile, Elena—still in the office—turned off the speaker mode she accidentally activated. The cute voice from the other end of the phone lifted her mood, sweeping away her gloomy feelings.
• “I'm guessing you're Sevyn.”
• Sevyn Truman sounded disappointed and displeased. “Hmph. Why do you always get it right? Hex and I sound the same.”
• Before Elena could speak, Hendrix Truman's voice could be heard in the background. He sounded serious, like an adult. “That's because I'm not as childish as you.”
• Suddenly, Sevyn started choking up. “I'm not childish. I just... I just...” She then burst into tears. “I just miss Mommy...”
• Elena's heart ached when she heard her daughter crying. “There, there. Don't cry, Sevyn. Once Mr. Myers and I have settled our matters, he'll bring you over.”
• Hearing “Mr. Myers” made Sevyn cry harder. “Mr. Myers doesn't want to go back... He's gotten himself a new girlfriend, and he even brought her home. It was so scary...”
• Ugh! Isaac Myers! He changes girlfriends faster than he changes his clothes. Why is he bringing them home? It'll be a bad influence on the kids.
• Frowning, Elena consoled, “Don't cry, Sevyn. Can you pass the phone to your brother?”
• Sevyn was crying uncontrollably that Elena could not make out what the former was trying to say. Thus, she figured it was better to ask Hendrix about it.
• “Mommy.” Hendrix sounded too calm to be a child.
• “Did Mr. Myers bring his girlfriend home again? Did he startle you kids?”
• Hendrix answered, “No.”
• “Then, why did Sevyn say he brought—”
• “He did, but he didn't scare me and Sevyn. Instead, I think Sevyn scared them.”
• It was only when Hendrix explained the entire incident that Elena finally understood what had happened.
• Basically, Isaac failed to change his bad habit after promising Elena that he would not hook up with any women and focus on helping her take care of the children before she returned to the country. Then, one day, he had too much to drink and brought a woman home.
• He was so drunk that he forgot there were two children at home. In the end, he began doing indecent acts on the couch in the living room.
• In the end, Sevyn suddenly appeared in her white nightdress, her long hair draped over her shoulder and a plushy in her arms. Amidst the thunder and lightning, she stared blankly at the entangled duo on the couch with her doll-like face. “Mr. Myers, what are you guys doing?”
• Isaac got such a terrible shock of his life that he fell off the couch, almost injuring his family jewels.
• Elena could picture the entire scene after listening to Hendrix's narration. Though she felt sorry for Isaac, she could not help but burst out laughing while she was at her table.
• “How dare you laugh, Mommy? That's rude. Anyway, I don't want to live with Mr. Myers anymore. I miss you, Mommy.” Sevyn's displeased yet choked-up voice sounded from the speakers.
• “All right. Be good, Sevyn. Once I'm done with my work, I'll go get you and Hendrix as soon as possible.”
• “You're a liar, Mommy. I do not believe you anymore. Hex and I are going to look for you.”
• Elena merely thought the children were throwing a tantrum by making such statements. Thus, she did not think much of it. She asked patiently, “How are you planning to come over to look for me, Sevyn?”
• “Hex and I are going to take a plane there.”
