• I STOOD with my back against the wall in Jordan's study while we waited. Jordan was seated behind the desk having a conversation with Melanie who was on the table and Blaine was lying on the sofa doing something on his phone.
• Apart from their barely audible conversation, there was silence in the study, making the ticking of the clock much louder. Jordan had said we needed to wait for someone to get here and nothing else, so I couldn't do more than wonder who it was.
