Chapter 15 Teaching the B*stard a Lesson
- Antonia Traver's POV
- It's Monday, and there're so many things to do.
- I was swamped with work as soon as I got to the office and only managed to take a break during lunch.
- My colleagues at the Administrative Department and I went to the company's restaurant on the 21st floor for lunch, and as soon as we got out of the elevator, we ran into Elijah Stone!
- His towering figure cast a shadow on the floor as he strode out of the elevator. His intimidating aura made the atmosphere a little tense.
- All the other employees stepped away cautiously and lowered their heads so that they didn't have to meet his gaze. I followed suit and retreated to the side, but I sneaked a glance at him.
- Our gazes met. I immediately lowered my head as my heart started pounding wildly. Was he looking at me?
- "At ease, everyone. There's no need to be tense." After saying that, Elijah walked over to a table by the window and took a seat.
- Two of his bodyguards followed along behind him while Larry went to take his food for him.
- I couldn't help but sneak another glance at Elijah again. He was too gorgeous. He looked as if he were God's gift to humanity!
- Wouldn't it be amazing if he were the father of my children? I thought to myself.
- As soon as I realized what I was thinking, I nearly jumped out of my skin and immediately quelled the outrageous thought I had. I took my lunch and sat down at the table with the rest of my colleagues in the Administrative Department.
- The moment I sat down, that disgusting man, Michael Lane, squeezed into the seat next to me and flashed me a grin. "Hi!"
- I rolled my eyes in disdain and shuffled to the side to keep my distance from him.
- "Why are you eating so little?" Michael didn't seem to notice my abhorrence for him. He continued to shamelessly try and make conversation with me. "You should eat more. The buffet here offers even more than what's available at all the five-star hotels, and it's free."
- I focused on my lunch and ignored him.
- Just then, I overheard the other employees' hushed discussions.
- "What's going on today? Why did the president come over to the restaurant for lunch?"
- "I'm dying to know too. He never comes to the restaurant."
- "Everyone's so nervous with him around. No one even dares to speak aloud."
- "That's so true. My hands are trembling even!"
- "You don't need to be so nervous," Michael piped up smugly. "The president may look stern and distant, but he's a pretty nice guy."
- "You seem rather familiar with the president, Mr. Lane," one of the male colleagues commented. "I saw you greeting him the other day."
- "Of course, the president and I don't just have a regular employer-employee relationship…" Michael remarked mysteriously.
- "No wonder you've gotten three raises in less than half a year, Mr. Lane. You must be good friends with the president." A few of the male colleagues immediately began to butter Michael up. "We'll have to rely on you in the future, Mr. Lane!"
- "Don't worry. As long as you do a good job here at Dallas Group, there'll be plenty of opportunities for you to succeed as well."
- Michael continued to gloat, and I couldn't stand it any longer. I took my tray of food and got up to leave, but I didn't expect him to follow me.
- "Wait a minute, Antonia!"
- He made my hackles rise. I started walking even faster, but he caught up to me and stood in my path.
- "What's the rush? Let's walk together."
- "Mr. Lane, we're not that close—" Before I could finish my sentence, I felt someone shoving me from behind.
- I couldn't stop myself from stumbling forward, and the leftover spaghetti bolognese on my plate splattered across Michael's face. It covered his face like a clay mask before slowly sliding downward.
- "Oh my goodness!" one of our nearby colleagues exclaimed.
- Michael froze for a moment before ripping pasta off his face in a frenzy, looking like a clown.
- "Pfft—" I couldn't stop myself from chuckling, but I realized how impolite that was of me and quickly apologized. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't do it on purpose. Someone bumped into me from behind so I—"
- I twisted my head around as I spoke to see who it was that bumped into me so coincidentally.
- As soon as I looked behind me, the person I saw was Elijah Stone!
