Chapter 14 A Pile of Bird Poop
- Larry Highgrave's POV
- There's no way my day can get any worse than it already is.
- We let Panda escape, and my boss, Elijah, reprimanded me severely for this. I was a werewolf just like him, and when he was mad, I felt a stifling pressure that made the werewolf inside me cower in fear.
- I followed him to the parking lot in trepidation, and just as we were about to leave, we stumbled across a little girl.
- She was chasing after her parrot, and that d*mn parrot flew into Elijah's car!
- My heart caught in my throat as I watched the scene unfold in front of me. I knew just how deeply Elijah detested flying creatures.
- The little girl scurried into the car as well, and the bird eventually landed on Elijah's shoulder!
- I was left flabbergasted by what I saw, but more than anything, I was terrified.
- I was certain that Elijah would fly into a fit of rage, and that d*mn parrot was going to take its last breath.
- True enough, I saw his forehead creasing as he grabbed that foolish parrot with one hand.
- In its struggle, not only did the parrot scatter around a few feathers in the car, but it also pooped!
- A pile of warm bird poop fell right onto Elijah's suit!
- "Oh my goodness…"
- I froze in utter shock. Not only did Elijah loathe flying creatures, but he was an absolute clean freak as well.
- I was certain that the parrot was about to die right there and then!
- Just as I thought, I saw Elijah's expression darkening as his hand tightened around the parrot.
- The parrot's neck stiffened as its eyes began to roll while its tongue lolled out of its beak!
- "Hey! Let go of my Little Pepper!"
- The little girl immediately clambered over and grabbed Elijah's hand with her chubby little hands. "Let go! Let go!"
- "Little girl…" I rushed over to pull her away.
- It was terrifying when Elijah flew into a rage. I didn't want the little girl to suffer the brunt of his anger.
- However, to my surprise, when he saw the little girl who was screaming in tears, his anger dissipated, and he even loosened his grip on the parrot. The parrot flapped its wings in agitation once more and flew into the little girl's arms.
- She immediately held the parrot protectively and threw a glare at Elijah before running out of the car toward the entrance of the mall.
- She was incredibly rude, and I assumed he would be mad, but once again, to my greatest surprise, he showed no sign of anger at all. He even instructed, "Send someone to keep an eye on her. Make sure she gets back to her family safely!"
- "Yes, sir!"
- I was stunned, but I immediately carried his order and had one of the bodyguards follow the little girl.
- Once the bodyguard came back and reported to Elijah that the little girl had reunited with her family, Elijah finally told the driver to take off. The car started moving while I remained in shock.
- According to my understanding of Elijah, both the parrot's and the girl's behavior would've sent him flying off the handle.
- Yet, he didn't show any sign of anger at all. He merely took off his suit jacket and brushed off the parrot's feathers before using a wet tissue to wipe his hands. I studied his expression carefully.
- Although Elijah remained expressionless, I could sense that the imposing aura that was emanating from him earlier was gone.
- Why is that? I couldn't figure it out.
- Was it because the little girl was adorable?
- "That little girl sure is cute," I remarked hesitantly.
- To my surprise, Elijah responded to what I just said, "She sure is. She had very clear eyes!"
- Once again, I was dumbstruck. It seemed to me that Elijah was very fond of that little girl.
- Rose Traver's POV
- I carried Little Pepper back into the mall. As soon as I reached the escalator, I heard Mommy calling out for me. "Rose! Rose—"
- "I'm here, Mommy!" I immediately ran toward her.
- "You scared me half to death!" Mommy hugged me tightly. I could sense how anxious she was.
- I apologized at once. "I'm sorry for making you worry about me, Mommy."
- "Are you hurt? Did you run into any bad guys?"
- "I'm not hurt, but…" I began.
- I recalled the man inside the car just now. Does he count as a bad guy?
- He looked very cold and stern. He did look like a bad guy!
- On the other hand, Little Pepper pooped on his shoulder, and even though he was furious, he did let Little Pepper go, so he didn't seem all that bad.
- "But what?" Mommy pressed me to continue.
- "Little Pepper pooped on someone…" I used my hands to illustrate what happened. "But that man didn't hurt Little Pepper…"
- "I'm glad everything's fine. Don't ever run off like that again, understand?"
- I nodded at once and followed Mommy back. "I understand. I won't do anything that would make you worry again, Mommy."
- Elijah Stone's POV
- "Elijah, I swear, if our Luna is willing to bear our child, the child would be just as adorable as that little girl. She was just like a little angel, wasn't she?"
- Dolph, the wolf in me, was still preoccupied with the little girl we ran into just now.
- If I were being honest, I didn't like kids at all. I usually found them noisy and st*pid, but I didn't find myself repulsed by the presence of that little girl we saw today. Instead, I felt a sense of affinity toward her.
- Therefore, I had to agree with what Dolph thought. Although that woman was a little foolish, she was very pretty, and our child would be incredibly adorable.
- She said she got pregnant but didn't give birth to the child. If she hadn't gotten an abortion, our child would be around the same age as that little girl, right? No, hang on. I had an even crazier thought. What if she was lying to me?
- "That's crazy, Elijah." Dolph sensed what I was thinking and was taken aback as well. "But it's not completely impossible. As you know, that woman's just a regular human."
- Sure enough, the offspring between a werewolf and a human wouldn't necessarily have a wolf within them, and even if they did, no one would awaken the wolf inside them at such a young age.
- "This means that if she were indeed our child, we have no way of confirming it right away."
- Indeed, I still thought that this crazy guess of mine could very well be the tAnna.
- I could tell that this was all because of that little girl just now. I had compromised because of her. I hated birds and anything dirty. Her pet had crossed every single one of my boundaries, but I still let her and her pet go.
- She was so adorable. Her eyes were so clear. To me, she looked like a little angel.
