Chapter 13

• The persistent ringing of the phone pierced through the silence of the large bedroom as the sound waves reverberated off the walls. With slow, deliberate steps, the receiver walked in the direction where the phone lay on the large, lustrous surface of the marble table, as delicate crystal figurines sparkled like diamonds, catching the light of the chandeliers and scattering it in a thousand shimmering rays.
• Finally, with a click, the ringing abruptly stopped as the slender hand placed the phone to the ear.
• "Speak," the raspy voice said.
