Chapter 10 The Cold Yet Gentle Devil
- The hospital director, Dr. Hao, placed the CT scan on the projector and took a closer look before he said to Min Qing, “The child’s head is bruised. I’ll prescribe some medication to reduce the swelling. Apply some heat to the bruise with a warm towel when you get back, and the swelling will completely disappear in about ten days.”
- Min Qing looked at Dr. Hao with gratitude. “Thank you, doctor.”
- “It’s no problem at all,” Dr. Hao quickly said. “It’s my honor to treat the young master.”
- The tall, handsome man standing next to Min Qing could shake the grounds of R City with just a stomp of his foot. If even the director of the hospital treated this man with so much respect, a mere head pediatrician like Dr. Hao could do no less. Yet, Min Qing, who he presumed was Mrs. Ji, was so courteous to him.
- Dr. Hao had an extremely good impression of her.
- Every noblewoman in R City took their children here with their noses in the air and would never even glance at the doctors. Any ounce of carelessness or a slip of the tongue would cause these women to call the director immediately.
- In comparison, Mrs. Ji here was the noblest of them all in R City and was worth much more than other wealthy ladies. Most importantly, she was still so modest and polite.
- Min Qing realized that Dr. Hao had misunderstood the situation. If he thought of her son as Ji Fuchen’s son, that would mean she was Ji Fuchen’s...
- Min Qing blushed. “My son isn’t—”
- Suddenly, Ji Fuchen cut her off by placing a hand on her shoulder. His masculine breath wafted toward her. “Let’s go get the medicine! There are still lots of people waiting to see Dr. Hao. We shouldn't bother him any longer.”
- “But...” He blew into Min Qing’s ear, causing her to flinch while carrying little Lingrui. Her face turned scarlet from his actions, and she couldn’t continue speaking.
- Ji Fuchen smiled as he took in Min Qing’s every beautiful movement before suddenly noticing the little boy watching him with his fluttering eyes.
- Without Min Qing’s consent, Ji Fuchen reached out and took the child into his arms. “You’re so heavy, but you still let your mommy hold you? That won’t do. I’ll carry you.”
- Min Lingrui pouted. He was only six; he couldn’t be that heavy.
- But seeing how Mr. Ji here was willing to lessen Min Qing’s burden, Min Lingrui didn’t say no.
- Ji Fuchen turned to leave the consultation room while carrying Min Lingrui.
- Min Qing quickly followed from behind, afraid that the man would claim Min Lingrui as his own son and run off with him.
- Dr. Hao sighed deeply while gazing at the beautiful couple’s backs. “Ji Fuchen is known as the Cold Devil, but who knew how gentle and considerate he actually is in front of his wife.”
- Min Qing caught up to Ji Fuchen and reached out to grab Min Lingrui. “I’m not tired at all. Leave the child to me!”
- But Ji Fuchen didn’t let go. He merely gazed at her with his obsidian eyes. “Are you sure you want to snatch the child from me right here?”
- Min Qing paled in shock. “What... do you mean?”
- Didn’t he already confirm this on the phone that Lingrui isn’t his son?
- Min Qing looked at Ji Fuchen’s exceptionally dashing face. Lingrui looked like he was carved from the same mold as the man. What if he was the man I slept with that night?
- If that were true, then wouldn’t Lingrui be his...
- No, that can’t be.
- Lingrui was hers and hers alone. She carried him for nine months, gave birth to him and raised him on her own for six years. She would not let anyone take her precious Lingrui away from her.
