Chapter 6 You're Quite Feisty

  • Inside the VIP room of the club.
  • Thud! The white ball sank into the pocket. Cole sat lazily on the sofa.
  • "Mr. Cole, how was the woman last night?" Someone asked with a sly grin.
  • Cole remained silent.
  • Another voice chimed in, "Yeah, you have been abstinent for so many years. That woman must be something special to catch your eye."
  • Cole frowned but didn't comment further. Indeed, the woman from last night was different.
  • He had actually felt something for her.
  • "Mr. Cole, we've arranged a dinner for you. Shall we head out tonight?"
  • After the evening drinks, Cole was slightly tipsy and decided to return to the hotel room from the previous night.
  • When he got back, a smirk tugged at his lips. What kind of trouble had those people stirred up this time?
  • Anne had regained consciousness. She reached up to rub her aching neck.
  • Looking around, she realized she was back where she had started.
  • This was the hotel she had left that morning. Who was playing this prank on her?
  • With a sudden noise, the bathroom door opened.
  • Anne's eyes widened in terror as she saw the tall man emerge, a towel wrapped around his waist, his chest muscles on full display. This time, he was drying his hair with a towel.
  • "Y-you," she stammered nervously.
  • Their eyes met. Anne felt her hands shaking.
  • Is this man a devil? Is he playing some cat-and-mouse game with me? This was insane!
  • In fact, she voiced her thoughts aloud.
  • "What did you say?" Cole frowned.
  • He returned to the hotel, only to find Anne knocked out and brought back by those people.
  • Apparently, they thought using Anne would please him.
  • Cole stepped closer.
  • Anne's eyes were filled with panic, and she asked, "What do you want?"
  • At this moment, the man seemed like a wild beast, suddenly appearing in the peaceful human world. He resembled an undeniable danger.
  • In a flash, his tall figure loomed over her.
  • "What do you think I'm going to do?"
  • Cole casually lit a cigarette.
  • The purple lace peeking from Anne's neckline and the tantalizing glimpse of her curves triggered a rare excitement within him—one he hadn't felt in five years.
  • "Let go of me! Or I'll scream!" Anne's voice was hoarse with fear.
  • She had never dealt with someone like Cole before, but it was clear enough how ruthless such a powerful man could be.
  • He couldn't torment her like that. She had a son to think about!
  • Cole's expression was indifferent as he looked at Anne, like she was a troublesome cat.
  • There was no denying that the man was strikingly handsome—tall and well-built, with stern, sharp features on his face. He was characterized by his long brows, deep-set eyes, high nose, and thin lips. His wet black hair was still dripping, reflecting in his sharp, bright eyes, making him look both profound and devilishly attractive.
  • "Do you know who I am?"
  • Seriously, dude, you're not a cash note. Why should I know who you are? Anne thought desperately.
  • "Haven't we met before?" Cole asked again.
  • This was absurd. Anne glared at him, double-checking, then said seriously, "Sir, except for our meeting yesterday, I've never seen you before!"
  • Cole's expression darkened. Maybe he was overthinking it. How could she possibly be the woman from five years ago?
