Chapter 3 Charlie's Being Protective

  • In Charlie's bedroom on the second floor.
  • "Hahaha, stop it!" Charlie jumped on his bed to evade Penny's playful attacks.
  • Only when he had hidden under the covers did he put on a serious expression. "How dare you tickle me?"
  • Penny gently pinched his cheek. "You should smile more. You're still a kid, be more playful!"
  • Charlie pushed away Penny and said, "You'll lose your job if you continue to disrespect me."
  • "You even know the word 'disrespect'?" Penny chuckled and pinched Charlie's cheek again. "So what if I'm being disrespectful?"
  • "I'll fire you right away!"
  • "Hahaha," Penny teased and attempted to tickle him again, "Go ahead!"
  • "Hahaha, stop it! Hahaha ... "
  • Laughter filled the bedroom.
  • Samuel and Wendy saw them rolling on the bed when they entered Charlie's room.
  • Samuel was displeased. "Penny, don't forget who you are!"
  • Both of them stopped laughing.
  • Penny quickly got off the bed upon seeing Samuel's stern expression. "Sorry, Mr. Nolan. I was just having fun with Charlie."
  • "You're only his nanny. Who said you can lay your hands on Charlie?"
  • "Daddy, don't scold Auntie Penny!" Charlie emerged from under the blanket and he stood in front of Penny with his arms wide open. "I was the one who asked her to play with me."
  • Penny looked at Charlie affectionately when she saw him defending her.
  • It's that look again.
  • Samuel frowned when he noticed the motherly love in Penny's eyes.
  • Why is she looking at Charlie as if he's her son?
  • Wendy looked at Penny from head to toe.
  • Penny looked like an average woman in her thirties with boring features. She was wearing black-framed glasses and her complexion was dull.
  • She looked like bumpkin wearing a faded checkered shirt, gray sweatpants, and black sneakers.
  • Wendy calmed Samuel down when she knew that Penny was the new nanny. "It's fine, Samuel. Charlie has been feeling down lately, and it's rare for someone to make him smile. You should have rewarded her instead!
  • "Don't worry, Samuel was too concerned about Charlie. Is it your first day here?" Wendy asked in a friendly manner.
  • "Yes," Penny answered when she noticed the woman behind Samuel.
  • She's pretty and elegant. It seems she is Mr. Nolan's fiancée and Charlie's future stepmother.
  • "Thanks for taking care of Charlie," Wendy said handing her gift to Charlie. "Charlie, this is the limited edition GPS watch you've been wanting. Here you go, hope that you'll like it!"
  • Charlie didn't accept it. He climbed into his bed and pulled the covers over him. "I'm tired already. Goodnight. Auntie Penny, please turn off the lights!"
  • "Charlie, where are your manners?"
  • "Samuel, stop it!" Wendy led Samuel out of the room after saying goodnight to Charlie.
  • They went downstairs and Wendy handed the watch to Samuel. "Please help me to give this to Charlie. I know that he isn't in the mood these few days, so I wanted to buy something to make him happy. I had searched many places to get this."
  • She looked worried about Charlie.
  • Penny, who followed them downstairs, noticed her expression.
  • This woman seemed to be kind to Charlie. I hoped that she'll love Charlie after marrying Mr. Nolan.
  • She seems familiar to me.
  • "You're spoiling him," Samuel said.
  • "We will be engaged next month, and we will be a family in the future. This is what I should do," she replied.
  • Samuel was pleased with Wendy's consideration.
  • He took the gift and changed his expression as he looked at Penny. "Give this to Charlie," he said coldly.
  • "Got it."
  • Penny, who had been looking at Wendy, immediately snapped out of her thoughts. She took the gift and headed upstairs.
  • Suddenly, something flashed across Penny's mind.
  • I remembered her! I had met her outside the operating room!
  • It was her! The woman who brought Samuel's sperm!
