Chapter 2 Penny Is Staying

• Penny looked at Charlie who was being cautious. She took a deep breath and lowered herself to look into his eyes. "Do you think your remarkable father would be interested in someone like me? I changed that information just to secure a job."
• Charlie scrutinised her from head to toe.
• Compared to the women before, this new nanny looked quite boring.
• "Women are good at pretending!" Charlie scoffed but he didn't send Penny away.
• He came out from under the covers and raised his arms. "Help me get dressed!"
• Penny's heart melted at his cuteness.
• She picked up the shirt and pants by the bed and helped him put them on while affectionately looking at him.
• "Raise your hand, please."
• Charlie followed her instructions.
• Although he already knew how to dress himself, he wanted Penny's help for some reason.
• I like her scent. She gave me a motherly feeling ...
• "We're done!" Penny was content to see Charlie dressed up. Then, she picked up the bowl from the bedside table. "You haven't had lunch, right? Let me feed you. You won't grow if you don't eat."
• Charlie snapped out of it. He realised he was spacing out in front of Penny. "You don't have to feed me!"
• "Will you eat on your own then?"
• "I don't want to eat!"
• Penny was taken aback. The obedient child just now was being stubborn suddenly.
• Penny remained patient.
• "You won't get enough nutrition to grow without eating."
• "Do you think I'm a three-year-old?" Charlie looked away angrily, "Leave me alone! I don't want to eat!"
• Silence filled the room.
• Charlie's heart sank.
• Had she left?
• He cautiously turned around to check and he was relieved to see Penny there.
• "I don't like the food in the bowl!" He said.
• Penny pondered momentarily and excitedly asked, "What do you want to eat? I'll cook for you."
• "I want pasta, without any garlic."
• "Alright!"
• Meanwhile, at Nolan Corporation. Samuel watched their heartwarming moment on his phone.
• Charlie was sitting with Penny at the dining table. She was feeding him the pasta gently.
• Despite Charlie's cold demeanour, he leaned slightly towards her to eat.
• 'Mr. Nolan, it seems that Charlie has accepted the new nanny.'
• Samuel felt strange when he read the text from the oldest serving servant in the Nolan residence, Lucy Morris.
• He had hired many nannies for Charlie, but none had stayed.
• Finally, a nanny had managed to stay, but her identity and intentions were questionable.
• Samuel put out his cigarette and called someone. "Penny is not hiding anything from us, right?"
• On the other end, Liam Garcia sighed. "You've asked me a lot of times, Mr. Nolan. Her identity matched with the details she provided. She's clean. I can tell that she's an honest woman when I talk to her, which is why I recommend her to you. Did she seduce you like the previous nannies?"
• Liam was aware that several nannies had tried to get close to Samuel under the pretense of caring for Charlie, which was why he had investigated Penny thoroughly.
• "Not at the moment."
• "I know right? She's aware that she's not on the same level as you."
• "Charlie fancied her." Samuel got up and looked out of the window.
• "It's rare that Charlie accepted someone!" Liam exclaimed. "Why are you being suspicious when it's good news? I'm not going to find another nanny for you if Penny leaves."
• "Mhm." Samuel hung up the phone.
• Am I being too skeptical?
• Whatever, there are bodyguards and surveillance cameras at home. She won't be able to cause any trouble.
• Later that evening, Samuel heard laughter from the second floor when he came home with his fiancée, Wendy Gibson.
• "Samuel, is that Charlie?" Wendy asked in surprise. "I have never heard him laugh before."
• Lucy approached them with a smile. "That's true. This place had been so quiet like a child didn't live here. It's great to see Charlie being active, thanks to Penny."
• "Who is Penny?" Wendy asked anxiously.
• "The new nanny," Samuel said.
• Wendy was stunned when she learned that, but she quickly smiled and pointed to the plate of fruits that Lucy was holding. "Lucy, is this for Charlie? I'll bring it to him since I also have a gift for him."
