Chapter 6

  • "Leave it. Why rush into marriage," Mili snapped. This is what happens when dealing with Niar. They never agree.
  • "You should see me. I'm getting married in three months."
  • "I don't care. I want to have fun first. Enjoy my single days," Mili chuckled.
  • "But marriage is better. You have a husband. You have a companion," Niar defended.
  • "So what?"
  • "Well, it's nice. You can enjoy yourself."
  • "You can also enjoy yourself while dating. Anywhere. Anytime," Mili replied casually.
  • "So, have you ever... with that doctor?"
  • "Of course."
  • "Is he good?"
  • "Definitely."
  • "Which hotel?"
  • "Just curious."
  • "Mili...!"
  • "Alright, stop being nosy. You know my boyfriend is cooler than your fiancée."
  • "Yes, my fiancée is busy going places. He's a manager, after all."
  • "Yes, yes, your fiancée is the coolest. What do you want?"
  • Niar took a deep breath. "Accompany me to the wedding exhibition."
  • "See, you want something."
  • "Come with me, Mili."
  • "Just go with your fiancée, the manager."
  • "He's busy with work. The wedding expo is in two days. Let's go out together. It's been a while since we hung out. Go to the mall, have a barbecue, go to the spa, and have lunch. I'll treat you to everything."
  • "Hmm."
  • "Thank you so much. I'll pray for you to get married soon."
  • "Amen," Mili shouted in her heart. She changed her position, lying on her side.
  • "Alright, Mili. Thank you. I'm going to bed, I'm tired."
  • "Okay."
  • Mili hung up the phone and walked towards the bathroom. She quickly removed her makeup and changed her clothes. Today was filled with dreadful promises.
  • Okay then. Niar is always reliable and has a little bit of goodness in her. And King. The perverted doctor who only sleeps almost drives her crazy. She couldn't imagine what tomorrow would be like if they went to the reunion event together. What would his reaction be? Is it really a reunion event? Or will they end up in a hotel room? Hopefully, there will be a storm tomorrow, so King won't be able to pick her up. It seems like that's just her expectation.

  • The next day, Mili walked towards the kitchen. She looked at Dias. Papa and Mama were having breakfast. Mili sat next to Dias as if nothing had happened yesterday. Mili looked at the fried rice on the table. Since she was reducing her carb intake, she decided to have toast instead. She spread pineapple jam on the surface of the bread and ate it.
  • Unbeknownst to Mili, Dias, Mama, and Papa were staring at her. "Why?" Mili asked. She didn't understand why everyone in the house was looking at her. Including Aunt Dolah in the kitchen, who looked confused.
  • "Sis, your clothes are inside out," Dias whispered.
  • Mili frowned. She looked at her white sleeveless shirt. Next to it, there was a black trim sewn on the outside. Mili wanted to facepalm. How could she wear her clothes inside out?
  • "Oh, this was intentional," Mili dismissed. Continuing her meal.
  • "I thought you forgot..."
  • "No, I didn't. It was intentional," Mili chuckled.
  • "How about King? Wasn't he asked to come over?" Mama asked, starting to inquire about King's whereabouts.
  • Mili was sure her mother wanted more details, especially about the one thing she always avoided, which was when there were family gatherings. "When are you getting married?" That was the most annoying question. It was something she always avoided when gathering with the family. Her dream son-in-law.
  • "He'll come here later, Mom."
  • "When will King come here, Mili? Your father wants to know about your boyfriend," Papa interrupted his meal.
  • "Later, Dad."
  • "You're keeping your relationship a secret. You don't want to introduce him to Mom and Dad," Mama chimed in.
  • "He was introduced here before, Mom," Mili said, even though yesterday was their first meeting.
  • "You never invited King to come here."
  • "Be patient, Mom. You know I'm busy. King is also busy. He has a lot of operations scheduled," Mili said casually. Surprisingly, she could say it fluently and effortlessly, as if King was her lover and she already knew all of his activities.
  • "If there's free time later, King will come to our house, Mom," she said like that, just wanting her parents to be at ease.
  • "Mom, can I have his phone number?"
  • "Whose phone, Mom?"
  • "Your boyfriend. King."
  • Mili raised her eyebrows. She didn't expect her mom to ask for King's phone number. She was sure King would be happy if he knew her mom had given the green light like this.
  • "Why, Mom?"
  • "Just to call King."
  • "Not now, Mom. I didn't bring my phone," Mili evaded.
  • "Was he your sister's boyfriend last night?" Dias asked, joining in the conversation about King.
  • Mili shrugged. "Hmm."
  • "What's his name, sis? King's dad," Dias asked again.
  • "Hmm."
  • "Why does King's dad like you, sis?"
  • Mili stopped eating. She stared at Dias for a moment.
  • "What do you mean? Am I ugly?"
  • "Yes."
  • "Watch out, okay?"
  • Dias laughed. "King's dad is handsome, sis."
  • "And?"
  • "He's also smart."
  • "Don't talk about him," Mili then got up from her chair. She was starting to get annoyed because King had become the main topic of conversation in this house.

  • Mili looked at her employees who were busy with their work. She was also busy managing customer orders. As usual, there were hundreds of deliveries happening every day.
  • This is the millennial era. Online selling has become the current trend. People's needs from head to toe can be accessed through the internet. Setting up such a large online store like Mili's requires a long process. It started with finding a flagship product. She chose women's clothing. For her, women love shopping. Clothing is something that is sought after by all women and is the number one trend on any platform. Mili was also analyzing the trending market. Her target market was aged 14-40 and fashion was the reason for doing business. She didn't expect her online business to be successful. Every day, there were hundreds of packages to be shipped to cities all over Indonesia.
  • The atmosphere in the online store was always busy. For her employees, Mili provided a complete catering service that always arrived at lunchtime. She knew that her employees couldn't go out to find food. There were even some food endorsements that became options for the employees to enjoy while working. They were all loyal employees.
  • With this busyness, time flew by quickly. She felt like she had just sat down, but now the evening was approaching. Mili looked at her phone screen, which showed 5:12 PM. She was sure King would come to pick her up soon. Mili left her work.
  • After taking a shower, Mili looked at her wardrobe. She took a black ruffle dress with one open sleeve on the right side, a bodycon dress model. Dara's creations were truly timeless. Dara was very talented in creating glamorous dresses like this.
  • She had offered Dara to sell those dresses in her online shop. But Dara refused, saying that she didn't produce many products and wanted to maintain the quality of her items. Dara was right. She had been consistent in running her business until now. Even now, influencers and celebrities are starting to notice Dara designing their dresses. Yes, her market was on the rise. One dress made by Dara could cost a fortune. Dara might not be academically smart, but her fashion sense was top-notch. No wonder she always attracted public attention and her appearance was stunning, even just for lunch.
