Chapter 5 Father And Son Reunion

  • "Yes! Yes! I'm your father."
  • Mr Nicholas confessed as he brought out a document of a verified DNA test which proved they were biologically related.
  • "Last month when I went to the lower town for some charity business, I crossed paths with Samantha but she couldn't really recognize me.
  • "I couldn't get myself after seeing her that day and I felt my conscience hitting on me. I had no choice but to ask my guards to find out more about her." Nicholas explained to Adrian, squeezing his firm hands and cleaning the tears that came out from his eyes.
  • "We searched the whole town but we couldn't find her. We only discovered later that she was dead and that you were her son,"
  • "I'm so sorry that I wasn't aware of your existence and I'm sorry for your mom's demise. I can't forgive myself for the suffering you must have gone through."
  • Nicholas sobbed on Adrian's broad shoulder while giving him a hug.
  • The young lady who accompanied Nicholas to the ward, cried as she witnessed the emotional scene of reunion between both father and son.

  • "Tell me this is a joke. Please tell me, Adrian." Maria screamed as she got down from the classy limousine which halted in front of an opulent gigantic luxurious building.
  • After Adrian was discharged from the hospital, Nicholas asked his driver to bring him and his sister to his mansion.
  • Maria's mouth gaped as she stepped into the breathtaking penthouse of Sir Nicholas. It had many buildings connected to it and it was located in an estate. The estate was undoubtedly owned by Sir Nicholas.
  • "Am I dreaming? Your dad is not just any rich man but the renowned and famous Sir Nicholas?" Maria asked again, trying to believe her eyes. Adrian laughed and locked hands with her. There were guards stationed at different corners like statues. A huge classic fountain was right at the center of the large courtyard. The whole place screamed rich and extravagant and it looked like heaven on earth.
  • "I can't believe I'm a half sister to a Billionaire's son." Maria cried and knelt on the floor gracefully while the guards escorting them smiled faintly.
  • Adrian locked eyes with the guard and smiled back. He knew his sister was over joyous and would embarrass herself while encountering strange incidents like this.
  • "You don't have to kneel, Maria, and I don't want you to see me as your half sibling anymore." Adrian said to her lovingly and she couldn't help but throw herself in his arms. "Thanks for not leaving me behind like mom did to us. Promise you'll always be there for me." Maria muttered and Adrian smiled before pulling her cheek.
  • "I promise."

  • Adrian couldn't believe his eyes when he learnt of the massive fortunes he'd inherit from his father. To him, it was still like a dream. He had never thought he could rise to anything or be the child of someone remarkable because he had always been seen as a nobody by the public.
  • "Here." Nicholas said to Adrian one day, placing some documents in his hands.
  • "This is my will. I want all of my possessions, fortunes and inheritance in your name, Adrian." Sir Nicholas emphasized as he locked eyes with a shocked Adrian.
  • After their discussion, a lady, Kate, who was Nicholas's secretary, decided to tour the mansion with Adrian.
  • Adrian couldn't help but gape multiple times at the breathtaking view of the rooms in the mansion. He came across a room filled with gold and expensive jewelry. The security there was tight and no one had access to the room except for Nicholas.
  • After some time, Kate left Adrian alone to view the parts of the mansion himself. While he strolled, he heard the conversation of his father and his lawyer whose name was Cornell.
  • "I'm so happy you found your son. You also did the right thing by putting all of your fortunes in Sir Adrian's possession." Cornell said to Nicholas who was busy searching some files on his table.
  • "But what of Lucas?" Cornell asked out of the blue and Nicholas paused for a while, hesitant to reply.
  • "What if Lucas appears all of a sudden and acts as a threat to Adrain? We both know how aggressive and violent he is."
  • Lucas was an adopted son of Nicholas. He was spoiled, rude, mannerless and lived an extravagant life.
  • He left home and went abroad after he had a brawl with Nicholas.
  • "How dare you bring up a discussion about that good- for-nothing son? He left the country without my consent. He is irresponsible as well as being nothing but trouble." Nicholas muttered as he sat up on his chair, maintaining a direct gaze at Cornell.
  • "I'm concerned about Adrian which was why I brought up this conversation. It's not for now but for Adrian's future." Cornell admitted and as Nicholas wanted to reply to him, he ended up coughing badly.
  • "Are you alright sir?" Cornell asked as he watched Nicholas hitting his chest gently with his fist as he coughed.
  • "Please bring.." –He coughed –"My medicines."
  • Nicholas managed to say and some maids rushed in with a glass of water and his medication.
  • Sir Nicholas had a terminal illness and the doctors had revealed that his life span would be cut short due to it. Nicholas knew his death was approaching and he was so happy to have found his biological son. He wouldn't sit and give his will to an undeserving fool like Lucas. Adrian was the perfect person to earn his inheritance.
  • "Please, when that time comes that Lucas acts as a threat to Adrain, do all you can to protect my son, Adrian." Sir Nicholas muttered repeatedly in his sleep and Adrian could hear him because he was the only one right beside him.
  • ****
  • Adrian returned to his restaurant which he set up in front of the Luthers. The news of billionaire Nicholas reuniting with his son remained a secret from the media. Adrian also kept his new identity a secret. No one knew he was now a billionaire except for his sister, Maria, who was now living in Nicholas's mansion. Adrian was so happy that his sister was in good care at Nicholas's home. She had a room to herself, a personal maid, cook, driver and bodyguard and she was able to enroll in the prestigious Stanford university.
  • As Adrian reached for his restaurant's door, he noticed some bags of trash beside it. He knew it was the work of some thugs in the neighborhood.
  • He spent a lot of time cooking and cleaning the whole restaurant. After a few hours, two customers came in to his surprise. The two women seemed more engaged in their chat than in their food.
  • "Oh my God! Aren't they just cute together?" Yvonne, one of the ladies screamed as she stared at a picture on her phone.
  • "Who?" Mia, the other lady in a gray jacket asked as she leaned forward to have a look at the content on her friend's phone.
  • "It's Stanley Williams and Valerie Luther. Didn't you hear the news? It's all over the media. They're dating and will be getting married soon." Yvonne revealed loudly, causing Adrian to pause his movement.
  • Adrian had tried to forget about them but he was still in pain as he hadn't healed from their betrayal.
  • He sure will make them pay for all they did to him. With his new found status, he'll make sure they end up bowing before him and surrendering to him first.
  • The next day, Adrian was cleaning his restaurant as usual when Caitlyn walked in. She was dressed in a simple denim gown and black wedge, moderately perfumed as usual with her brown curly hair cascading beneath her nape. She was a good friend of Valerie and she knew Adrian when he came to the US to work as a cleaner in a company. She was a staff in that company and she became close to Adrian ever since he helped her retrieve her stolen purse from some robbers.
  • "Good to see you Caitlyn. What can I offer you?" Adrain greeted her gleefully. He was surprised she would show up.
  • "Nothing much. A cup of coffee should do." She said as she took a seat, her eyes scanning the whole restaurant which looked empty without a single customer.
  • It was two in the afternoon and not a single customer had showed up since morning.
  • "Thank you!" Caitlyn said as she took the cup from Adrian and slurped while sipping its content.
  • "I see you have a new business now," She began, locking eyes with Adrian as she dropped the empty cup on the table.
  • "And I heard about what happened to you and Valerie. I'm sorry that she could do such a thing to you, you don't deserve that ill treatment."
  • "It's alright. I have no choice but to move on. I'm just glad you dropped by anyways." Adrain admitted, a wide grin spreading across his face.
  • "Please accept this gift from me. It's my appreciation for helping me retrieve my phone from those thugs that day. I realized I haven't been able to thank you enough since you left the company then." Caitlyn muttered, opening a box that revealed a golden luxurious and costly wrist watch.
  • "Urm- urh! Thanks but you don't need to do this."
  • "Please, just accept this as a token from my heart," Caitlyn offered and Adrian accepted it with a smile.
  • He leaned and muttered to her, "In return for your kindness, one day, I'll treat you for a meal at The Grand Roberts restaurant."
  • Caitlyn's face went from a smile to a shock. She locked eyes with Adrian and replied, "Wow! That's like the best restaurant in the world. It's super super expensive. You don't have to worry. You can just take me somewhere simple."
  • "I'm serious, cos I mean it." Adrian emphasized, maintaining a gaze with a shocked Caitlyn.
  • The Grand Roberts restaurant was established by his father, Nicholas, but it was now in Adrian's possession.
  • Caitlyn had no idea that he had evolved from the poor cleaner who depended on the Luthers for assistance to a mysterious and formidable billionaire and the heir apparent to the renowned Nicholas.
