Chapter 8 Good Day, Mr Holland

  • Upon hearing Hadden's words, Vanessa trembled. Both Andrew and Rebecca looked shocked and surprised.
  • Vanessa stood up, her body shaking. She bit down hard on her lips, her makeup already smeared, but her stunning beauty remained hard to conceal.
  • Slap!
  • "Divorce?"
  • She slapped Hadden across the face, her voice filled with fury. "What do you take me for?
  • "I admit, five years ago, you were a victim too. You didn't want to marry me, and you could have refused. But why, after we got married, did you still leave?
  • "Do you know how much I endured after you left? The rumors I faced, the insults I suffered? Do you know that Anya was bullied in kindergarten, and called a fatherless child?
  • "Do you know how many times Anya, holding the only photo of our marriage, asked me when her daddy was coming home? Do you know how much that broke my heart?
  • "I waited so long for you to return, and Anya finally got to see her father come home now. But, you tell me you want a divorce?
  • "Tell me! Are you doing right by me? Or by our daughter?"
  • Vanessa finally broke down, sobbing uncontrollably, as if she was releasing all the pain and burden she had carried alone over the past five years.
  • With every accusation she made, Hadden's heart ached even more. And when Vanessa finally burst into tears, this battle-hardened warrior, who never once cried even when his body was battered and broken in combat, shed tears of his own.
  • Hadden took a step forward and suddenly wrapped Vanessa tightly in his arms.
  • "Let go of me! Get out of my life! You want a divorce, right? Fine, tomorrow we'll go to the City Hall," Vanessa shouted as she struggled, pounding her fists against Hadden's chest while crying.
  • Hadden's arms were like iron, holding her firmly. He whispered softly in her ear, "I'm sorry. I will never leave you again for the rest of my life."
  • Seeing Vanessa calm down slightly, Rebecca rushed over, forcibly pulling them apart. "Vana told you to leave. What are you still hanging around for? Get out!"
  • With a hard shove, Hadden was pushed out the door.
  • Although he had been kicked out, Hadden was overjoyed because Vanessa didn't want a divorce.
  • Whether it was for her reputation or Anya, it didn't matter to Hadden. As long as they didn't divorce, that was all that mattered.
  • After leaving Vanessa's house, Hadden headed directly to the Jerton branch of Wildden Group.
  • Wildden Group's headquarters was located in Orkburg, and it was a company founded by Hadden's mother, Wilda Holland, long before she met Hadden's father. When the truth about their relationship came to light, the Chamberlains forcibly took control of the company.
  • It wasn't until the Chamberlains learned of Hadden's influence in Northville that they returned Wildden Group to him.
  • Standing outside the Wildden Group building, Hadden felt a surge of emotion. But thinking of the humiliation and suffering his mother had endured, his heart filled with anger.
  • "One day, I'll personally pay a visit to the Chamberlains," Hadden muttered as the fury in his eyes slowly subsided.
  • Just then, a white Maserati pulled into the Wildden Group parking lot. A woman in business attire stepped out of the car.
  • This woman was Hadden's sister-in-law, Vivian. That luxury car was one of the wedding gifts the Smiths had received just a few hours ago, and she couldn't wait to take it out for a spin, not caring how ridiculous she looked.
  • "Vivi, I'm so envious of you! You've caught the eye of the Porter family heir, and they've given you such lavish wedding gifts. When you marry into the Porters, don't forget about me, your best friend!" A woman in a Wildden Group uniform walked up to Vivian, smiling warmly.
  • Vivian warmly linked arms with the woman and said with a giggle, "Even if I forget everyone else, I wouldn't forget you. But for now, I still need your help."
  • "Don't worry at all, Vivi. As long as I, Clarissa Reid, am in charge, everything will go smoothly for you. I handle all the matters in the HR department. If it weren't for the company's policies, I'd just sign you up directly. But no worries, we'll just go through the formalities."
  • "Thanks so much, Ms. Reid!"
  • "Oh, come on, no need to thank me!"
  • ...
  • The two women chatted away, clearly close.
  • "Hadden!"
  • Just as they reached the entrance of the company, they spotted Hadden. Vivian's face immediately showed surprise, but before Hadden could say anything, her expression turned dark. She shouted angrily, "You creep, stalker! My mom kicked you out, and now you're here to harass me? Let me tell you, even if you kneel and beg, I won't help you."
  • Hadden frowned slightly and sneered, "Stalking you? You must be delusional."
  • Vivian was momentarily speechless, but soon she thought of something and covered her mouth, letting out a mocking laugh, "You're probably here for a job interview, aren't you?"
  • Hadden didn't bother responding and moved forward to enter the building.
  • As soon as he moved, Vivian blocked his path, her face full of scorn. "Hadden, let me give you some advice. Don't waste your time. Do you even know what Wildden Group represents? This is a subsidiary of the Chamberlains in Orkburg. Even though the Jerton branch just opened, it's not a place for just anyone to slip through."
  • "Vivi, who is this?" Clarissa asked, confused.
  • Vivian shot Hadden a contemptuous look and said to Clarissa, "He's the useless guy who tricked my sister five years ago and then ran off with money. Now that he's probably spent it all, he wants to bother my sister again. Do you think our family could possibly tolerate him? We just kicked him out."
  • Clarissa was shocked and blurted out, "So this is the scum who sullied your sister?"
  • Realizing the person she was talking about was right in front of her, Clarissa quickly covered her mouth in embarrassment. "I'm sorry!"
  • "Clarissa, you didn't say anything wrong. He is a piece of trash. No need to apologize," Vivian said casually.
  • Clarissa glanced at Hadden, then quickly added, "I'm really sorry, but our company's positions are already filled. You'd better leave."
  • Clearly, Clarissa was siding with Vivian. The branch had just opened and was obviously in need of people. How could it possibly be fully staffed already?
  • Hadden didn't care about what they said. Forget this branch—he owned the entire Wildden Group now.
  • Even without the Wildden Group, the resources and wealth under his control far surpassed the Chamberlains.
  • Ignoring them, Hadden stepped forward to enter the building.
  • Clarissa immediately panicked and rushed forward, blocking his way. "What's wrong with you? I already told you Wildden Group isn't hiring, so why are you still trying to go in? If you keep this up, I'll call security."
  • "Get out of my way!"
  • Hadden suddenly shouted, his voice cold and intimidating. Startled by his outburst, Clarissa involuntarily stepped back a few paces.
  • Hadden had endured the Smiths's treatment for the sake of Vanessa and Anya, but his patience had its limits.
  • "Hadden, how dare you cause trouble at Wildden Group!" Clarissa was scared, but Vivian remained defiant.
  • "Ms. Reid, what's going on here?"
  • A middle-aged man in a security uniform approached, addressing Clarissa.
  • Clarissa, her face cold, pointed at Hadden and said angrily, "Alex, this man is trying to force his way into the company. I suspect he has ill intentions. The chairman of Wildden Group is coming today, and if you let this guy in, it'll be more than just your job on the line."
  • Clarissa's words were a clear warning, and Alex was startled. He immediately called for backup on his walkie-talkie. Soon, more than ten fully equipped security guards arrived.
  • "Vivi, let's go!" Clarissa shot Hadden a cold glance.
  • Vivian, looking smug as if her scheme had succeeded, sneered at Hadden, "Dream on if you think you can work at Wildden Group. Not in this lifetime!"
  • With that, she and Clarissa walked off together.
  • "Kid, this isn't the place for you to mess around. Get lost!" Alex said arrogantly.
  • Hadden narrowed his eyes slightly and replied coldly, "You're trying to kick me out without even knowing who I am or why I'm here? Is this how you handle security?"
  • Alex raised an eyebrow. "Ms. Reid said you're up to no good. What's wrong with kicking you out?"
  • "You believe whatever she says? Do you enjoy being someone's lapdog?"
  • The expression on Hadden's face disappeared, his voice growing even colder.
  • The security guards were stunned into silence.
  • "You brat, you're asking for it!"
  • Alex roared in anger, shouting, "Get him! Beat this punk to death!"
  • Just then, a black Audi A8 came to a sudden stop at the entrance of Wildden Group.
  • A middle-aged man in a suit hurried out of the car.
  • "Hello, Mr. Mendez!" The security guards immediately straightened up.
  • But Ronald Mendez, his face etched with anxiety, rushed past them without a second glance. He hurried over to Hadden, bowed slightly, and said, "Good day, Mr. Holland! It's an honor to have the chairman visit us."
