Chapter 9 The Bet

• On the following day, in the meeting room of Bai Corporation.
• Every single member of the Bai Family who worked there was present.
• Master, who was seated on the chairman’s seat, said in a serious tone, “It is decided, the youngsters may take this opportunity to gain practical experience. Whoever performs well in the financing activity will be developed to be the successor of the business.”
• Everyone was shocked upon hearing this, the parents of some of the higher regarded households showed signs of contentment on their faces.
• The Bai Corporation was considered as a third-rated enterprise in Xin Yang City. It was not a big corporation, but it went through three generations of hard, honest work to eventually achieve its status today.
• However, due to its outdated management style, it was on pace to be eliminated in the fast-changing, modern society. Hence, the Bai Family was forced to explore new projects, which required a large amount of investment funds.

On the other hand, An Xiang… She could gain some experience with Yue Liang Wan. After all, she was the only person who did not have the exposure in the Bai Family. • But she felt a strange sense of trustworthiness from the affirming eyes of Cheng Yuan. Hence, when Bai Yong Ming proposed for an exchange, she quickly agreed to it knowing Yue Liang Wan Estate was a subsidiary of the Jun Feng Group.
• As the meeting was dismissed, everyone left the main building of Bai Corporation, preparing to head to their target companies respectively.
• Bai An Xiang heard whisperings directed at her as she was making her way out.
• “That was so foolish of Bai An Xiang, she’d rather go to Yue Liang Wan Estate. Didn’t she know that its part of the Jun Feng Group?”
• “I know, right? Jun Feng Group is the biggest company in the Xin Yang City, there is no way they would invest in us.”
• “Yeah, I think Yong Ming is likely to hit the home run this time, Bai An Xiang on the other hand… Tsk… She obviously has issues.”
• Bai An Xiang just ignored all the jeerings coming her way and headed straight to the exit.
• “Bai An Xiang.” Bai Yong Ming stood outside the building with a few of their cousins.

• “Where are you going? Do you need a ride from the me?” Bai Yong Ming said complacently.
• Bai An Xiang glanced at the Mercedes-Benz parked right in front of her and said, “That’s fine, I will take the bus.”
• “Haha…” Everyone bursted into laughter, especially Bai Yong Ming who continued to mock her, “Are you planning to take the bus to Yue Liang Wan to discuss the investment proposal?”
• Bai An Xiang did not say a word.
• Bai Yong Ming continued with a laugh, “So you are seriously thinking about going to Yue Liang Wan, I suggest you forget it, this is an impossible task. Why don’t you go home and go to bed with your bumpkin husband?”
• Facing the insults coming from Bai Yong Ming, Bai An Xiang asked out of frustration, “How do you know I can’t make it?”

• Everyone was startled.
• “Hoho, if you could get it done, I will kowtow to you. I will even call you my lady.” Bai Yong Ming scoffed, “Wishful thinking.”
• “Deal!” Bai An Xiang answered emotionlessly.
• “Huh?” Bai Yong Ming was surprised with the way Bai An Xiang retalitated, he put up a serious face and asked, “What if you can’t make it?”
• “Up to you.” Bai An Xiang answered adamantly.
• Bai Yong Ming scoffed, “If you can’t make it, you’ll kowtow to me instead. And, you are to renounce your status as a member of the Bai Family and banish yourself from the family, you want to bet?”
• “Why not?!” Bai An Xiang was unyielding.
• Had she left the Bai Family, there would be one less member to take a share of the inheritance. Thus, the people who heard Bai An Xiang’s agreement to the bet was surprised and delighted.
• As she hopped on the bus, Bai An Xiang planned to return to her rented place to make some preparations before going to Yue Liang Wan.
• However, not long after the bus left, her phone rang, she checked the screen and realized it was from her mother, Li Ning Juan. She answered the call reluctantly.
• “You little brad, are you trying to drive your mother mad?” Li Ning Juan started screaming at the top of her lungs as soon as the call was answered, “Are you stupid? Ying Ying told me that you made a deal with Bai Yong Ming? You really are driving me mad. Why did you think we insisted to stay in the Bai Family despite their hostility to us?”
• Bai Ying Ying was the closest cousin to Bai An Xiang in the family, so she was not surprised that Ying Ying told her mother about the incident.
• “Mom, it was not like that,” Bai An Xiang did not know how to explain to Li Ning Juan. In fact, she was not entirely sure what she was up to, after all, it was Cheng Yuan who suggested her to try for Jun Feng. But why would she trust him? She was not sure herself.
• “Stop with your nonsense, come home at once.” Li Ning Juan was enraged.
• Bai An Xiang paused for a moment, hung up the call straight away and switched off her phone.
• On the other end of the phone, Li Ning Juan saw it and sat down on the couch, overcome with grief, “We’re done!”
• Bai An Xiang’s father Bai Shi Ju, who was sitting steadily on the couch, put down the newspaper in this hands and mumbled, “An Xiang did the right thing.”
• “What the hell do you know?” Li Ning Juan was infuriated when she heard him, “It was all your fault, why did I even choose to you in the first place? Look at your brothers, all of them lived more comfortably than us. Nevermind being complacent, stop adding salt to the wound…”
• Bai Shi Ju could only shook his head in a wry smile as Li Ning Juan was enraged, he stopped reasoning with her.
• On the other hand, Bai An Xiang arrived at the rented house. She changed into a formal outfit and was prepared to depart to Yue Liang Wan.
• Cheng Yuan came out from the other room and asked, “What are you planning to do?”
• “To pitch a proposal for investment.” Bai An Xiang answered.
• “Where?” Cheng Yuan asked.
• Bai An Xiang replied, “Yue Liang Wan Estate.”
• “Right!” Cheng Yuan said casually.
• The conversation between them sounded like a small talk.
• After Bai An Xiang left home, Cheng Yuan grabbed his phone and made a call.
• “Put me through to the general manager of Yue Liang Wan.”
