Chapter 13 He Likes to Hold a Grudge

  • This guy obviously likes to hold grudges! You said he has face blindness? That must be a joke!
  • "He couldn't even remember his own secretary ... " Jake was about to continue, but an icy voice interrupted him.
  • "Tonight, Ms. Harper will provide you with some documents. Work on the planning by tonight; I want to see it on my desk tomorrow," Leon said before pushing his chair aside and walking away.
  • After he took a few steps, a hoarse voice came from behind.
  • "Mr. Wood, do you truly have face blindness? Should I wear a special name tag for you?"
  • Jake could no longer hold it in. He burst into laughter and said, "Ms. Harper always wears a big red name tag every day; otherwise, he wouldn't recognise her."
  • Jake was laughing and talking but stopped abruptly when he met the man's foreboding gaze.
  • "There's no need for a special name tag. I remember you."
  • This statement thoroughly scared Jake. His buddy actually claimed he could remember this Ugly Betty.
  • He thought that only Ms. Robson ...
  • "To be safe, I'll choose a different colour and wear it tomorrow. After all, I'm from the planning department and responsible for ... " Clara just wanted to verify if it was true.
  • If it were true, she would have noticed it five years ago.
  • "When I say no need, I mean no need. Do you not understand?" Leon shot Clara a cold look and then strode out.
  • "He has lost his mind! He dared to entrust both the advertising campaign and spokesperson roles to you. He also said he remembered you. Tsk!" Jake crossed his legs and probed, "What do you think that means?"
  • "It means I have to leave now. The planning proposal needs to be delivered to the president's office tomorrow."
  • "He can remember a few women, and you are ... " Jake smirked. That would make her the third woman.
  • This is truly the biggest entertainment of the year!
  • Leon probably doesn't know this woman had become a mother.
  • Clara didn't respond to him and walked straight out.
  • Only Jake remained in the interview room. He was still clicking his tongue in disbelief.
  • When the elevator reached the first floor, Clara had just walked out when she saw Lucy approaching her in a furious manner.
  • "Old woman, who's backing you?" Lucy looked at Clara haughtily, her eyes full of disdain.
  • "Someone you can't mess with," Clara looked up at her, smiled a little, and responded indifferently.
  • She just wanted to avoid further entanglement.
  • "I'm Leon's girlfriend, and the Wood Corporation is a leading business giant. Who's backing you that I can't provoke? Tell me, who is it?" Lucy was defiant, her words filled with resentment.
  • "If you want to know, you can ask Mr. Wood." Not wanting to argue, Clara was about to turn and leave.
  • Lucy grabbed her from behind. She challenged, "What a braggart! Do you dare to say you've got Mr. Wood's backing?"
  • As more and more people's attention was drawn in their direction, Clara swiftly moved her hand back, breaking away from gripping. She said, "I use my brain to get things done. Do you have a brain?"
  • She paused and sized Lucy up. Clara laughed unapologetically and said, "Besides, who knows what surgeries you've had? Is it worth showing off?"
  • With those remarks, the crowd fell into an uproar. Lucy's expression was one of complexity.
  • All of the people around them stopped in their tracks. Some already whispered amongst themselves.
