Chapter 1 I'm Your Bride

  • Aboard a luxurious private yacht, a wedding was underway.
  • Clara Robson watched the couple with a chilly stare as her blue dress fluttered in the wind.
  • "Wait a second!"
  • She called out and interrupted the ceremony. All eyes turned to her.
  • "Who is that woman? Why is she approaching the bride and groom?" whispered the guests.
  • "Could she be Mr. Curtis’s lover? Here to cause a scene?"
  • Vera Larson, the bride, heard the murmurs and felt a surge of panic. When she saw the woman coming closer, her smile froze, and dread washed over her.
  • When her gaze shifted to the approaching woman, her heart sank with dread!
  • No one in their right mind would let their love rival disrupt their wedding, especially when it was something she had carefully orchestrated!
  • "Clara!" The groom, Ryan Curtis, released Vera's hand and turned to face Clara, the coldness on his face melting into tenderness.
  • Vera panicked, trying to pull him back. "Ryan, I'm your bride. Her family has fallen," she reminded him.
  • Her voice was soft, but her grip was firm.
  • Clara approached with a smile.
  • "Clara, listen to me!" When Ryan saw the coldness in her eyes, he felt an unexpected surge of panic.
  • "Congratulations; your bride is lovely," Clara said with a smile. "Although the Larson family's business isn’t huge, it's pretty decent. Marrying her should be advantageous for you," she said, then presented a wedding gift, an envelope with the moneny inside.
  • "My family may have gone bankrupt, but I can still afford this small gesture. I wish you a happy marriage," Clara said.
  • As she spoke, she threw the envelope at Ryan with full force.
  • Dollar bills hit him in the face, fluttering down around him, some stained with faint traces of blood.
  • She chuckled softly and taunted, "Since it's a wedding celebration, why not make it more lively with a touch of 'dog blood' on those bills? After all, red symbolises love; the redder, the better."
  • Ryan was flustered. He rushed over and took Clara's hand, pleading, "Clara, you know I love you. Please be a good girl and don't do anything reckless."
  • "What nonsense are you talking about, Ryan?" Vera snapped; her expression was a picture of humiliation. This man was her husband.
  • As she confronted Clara, she lost her cool and lifted her veil, her eyes full of resentment. "With your family's downfall, do you still think you're the same mighty Ms. Robson as before? You and Ryan—being together is impossible! Leave now!"
  • Clara and Vera were classmates. When the Robsons were at their zenith, they had a great deal of influence, with everyone trying to gain favour.
  • Clara was renowned for her beauty back in school—cold and unapproachable.
  • At this time, the Robsons had undergone an investigation, their products were found to be faulty, and the head of the family was behind bars.
  • Ryan could marry an ordinary girl, but not someone from a family with a criminal record.
  • "Don't worry. I'll leave when it's time," Clara said calmly, looking at the scattered money on the floor. "You can keep the money; consider it a gift for our acquaintance."
  • Reporters captured the moment. Today's wedding was full of drama!
  • Vera's expression turned dark. She was furious, yelling, "Who let this woman in? Get her out of here, now!"
  • Her outburst only added to the chaos. The venue buzzed with whispers, cameras clicking, and guests filming the commotion.
  • Amidst the turmoil, there was a sudden series of snap noises, and the lights on the yacht went out. Darkness engulfed the space.
  • "Argh!" someone screamed.
  • A large hand abruptly covered Clara's mouth, while another gripped her shoulders, preventing her from moving.
