Chapter 40 Partner

• Maya carefully parked her car next to the curb and shut off the engine before turning to face Jason who was already unbuckling his seatbelt, “You okay buddy?” She asked softly, trying not to startle him as she leaned over to open his door for him.
• He smiled weakly at her in reply as he slid out of the vehicle, “Yeah, I just...I’m sorry that you had to come all this way."
• She shook her head, giving him a small grin, "It's no big deal, just rest up and you'll be fine."
