Chapter 296 Darkest Path

• I knew the moment she woke. She instantly felt different. Heavier and stiffer. My suspicions were confirmed when she cracked open an eye to peek at me. Waiting for that moment she could get away from me.
• I glanced down at her. Not minding my step as cautiously as I generally did. The result was me stepping on a fallen branch, which gave a loud crack. A sound which emanated through the edge of the forest. Echoing through skeletal trees and whispering out over the meadow before fading away.
• She heard, the same moment I did, the low snarl to our left. The creature which was summoned by my careless lumbering.
