Chapter 5 My Husband Is Coming Home

  • Leanna looked into the man's light blue eyes that spelled allure, and from his gaze, she read trouble.
  • "This is not the place to talk. Let's go somewhere else," Leanna said helplessly.
  • In the coffee shop, silence prevailed.
  • Leanna squinted her eyes, staring intently at the man sitting opposite her, wishing she could bore holes into him. Quintez, on the other hand, sipped his coffee leisurely.
  • He was so eager in the library earlier to understand why Leanna wanted to have a child, yet he remained silent now. It seemed he anticipated that Leanna would eventually speak up. After all, he held her leverage.
  • "What do you have against me? Why must you do this to me?" Leanna finally spoke up.
  • Quintez snorted, took a sip of his coffee, and casually placed the cup on the table. "Just curious."
  • Leanna couldn't help but roll her eyes. "If I tell you, will you delete the photos?"
  • "No problem."
  • Leanna sighed quietly. "I'm married."
  • Quintez wasn't surprised by this revelation; he knew she was married, and moreover, he was her husband! "Oh, can't your man satisfy you?"
  • Leanna blushed and lowered her head bashfully. "We just had sex last night… You should know I'm… I'm a virgin. So, my husband and I…"
  • "Why do you want a child then?"
  • Leanna pondered for a moment. "The fortune-teller said our family needs a child for blessings. So, I must get pregnant within a year."
  • Quintez scrutinized Leanna's crystal-clear eyes. Despite their innocence, he still doubted her words.
  • "Do you actually believe in feudal superstitions?"
  • "Believe it or not."
  • "Blessings? Has something unfortunate in your family? Is someone dying?"
  • The next second, Leanna slammed the table abruptly, her face turning pale. "Shut up!"
  • Quintez instinctively looked at Leanna, seeing a stubborn force in her otherwise delicate demeanor. Leanna quickly realized she was overly sensitive to the word "death" and immediately turned her head away. "In any case, it's important to me. I must bear a child within a year."
  • "Why not turn to your husband?"
  • "My husband?" Leanna turned back, incredulously looking at Quintez. "That bald old man… I don't even know if he's capable of having children!"
  • "Bald old man?" Quintez subconsciously touched his head. I'm not bald! My hair's pretty healthy and good-looking! Why would she say that?!
  • Then, he carefully recalled the day of their marriage registration; he seemed to have gone golfing with Blake that day. Responsible for the matter was Luca, his secretary, and Reginald Watson, his butler. Reginald, in his fifties, was indeed balding. It seemed she mistook Reginald for himself.
  • Leanna knocked on the table, bringing Quintez back to reality. "Would you believe me if I said I haven't seen my husband for a year since we got married?"
  • Quintez naturally believed her. If she had seen him, they wouldn't be sitting here having this conversation. "That's unlikely, isn't it?"
  • Leanna shook her head. "You won't believe me anyway, but I really haven't seen him. I don't even know his name. During the registration, I only took care of my documents and then signed the papers. I was about to see what my husband's name was, but that d*mn secretary snatched away the marriage certificate."
  • Good job, Luca! Quintez mused. "Oh."
  • "And then, he left me in a villa without a word."
  • "Oh, why would he do that?" Quintez could only ask knowingly.
  • Leanna pondered, pinching her chin. "I guess he might be too ugly and afraid to be seen by me, or maybe he's impotent and embarrassed, or perhaps he's just using me for blessings."
  • Listening to this, Quintez felt extremely uncomfortable, but he couldn't refute it. He had a devilishly handsome face and was certainly strong and enduring! How could he be impotent?! "There might be other reasons." He chuckled awkwardly.
  • "As you can see, I'm really miserable. So, please, spare me." Leanna immediately grabbed Quintez's hand, her eyes pleading, tears almost falling. For an actress like her, this was a necessary skill.
  • Seeing her pitiful look, Quintez felt his heart skip a beat. This girl is pretty endearing.
  • "I've told you everything, so please delete the photos?" Leanna pleaded.
  • Quintez cleared his throat. "I can delete them, but you have to promise me one thing."
  • Leanna's expression changed abruptly. "Don't push it. I've told you everything you wanted to know. You said you would delete them if I did!"
  • Quintez waved his phone in his hand. "The ball's in my court. I know you haven't told me everything, but I'm not interested anymore."
  • "You—" Leanna gritted her teeth, realizing this man was not easy to deal with. "Fine, what's the condition? Tell me!"
  • Quintez smirked. "Let me have sex with you again."
  • "You shameless b*stard!" Leanna wanted nothing more than to slap that handsome face.
  • "I'm shameless?! You, a married woman, going out to have sex with other men, aren't you shameless? I'm not married. What's wrong with me finding women?"
  • "You—" Leanna was almost driven crazy; she regretted it deeply. They said beautiful women were untrustworthy, but handsome men were even less trustworthy!
  • "Anyway, since you've betrayed your husband once, what's another time?" Quintez glanced at Leanna sideways. He wanted to see if this woman dared make him wear the horn again.
  • "No! I have principles. I slept with you because I had no choice. It was to have a child!"
  • "Is there a difference? Besides, what if you don't get pregnant? We might as well try again tonight; maybe we'll succeed." Quintez winked.
  • Leanna bit her lip. Honestly, she wouldn't do this a second time because her conscience couldn't bear it.
  • "You can take your time to think. I'll wait." Quintez leaned back on the sofa, picking up his coffee to drink.
  • Time passed by, and each second a struggle for Leanna. If Quintez didn't delete those photos and they were leaked, her reputation would be ruined. If she were an ordinary person, it would be one thing, but she was going to be an actress in the future; these photos could destroy her career. But if she slept with Quintez again, she would really feel guilty. After all, she was conceiving a child for…
  • "I—" Leanna was about to speak up when her phone rang urgently. "Let me take this." Leanna answered the call, "Hello, what? My husband's coming home?!"
