Chapter 3 Wearing the Horns
- Stunned that Quintez hit the roof, Luca retreated a couple of steps back stiffly, then nodded. "Y-Yes, sir."
- Quintez heaved twice before sitting back down. In other words, she made me wear the horns last night! That d*mned woman! Though we ended up together last night, what if she actually hooked up with someone else?! Wouldn't she have actually betrayed me?!
- "M-Mr. Wood, you requested Mrs. Wood's information just now. Um, about that… You checked her background a year ago when you were marrying her. Shall I fetch it for you?"
- "Well? What are you waiting for?" Quintez yelled at Luca.
- "Right away, sir!" Luca immediately left the office and returned with Leanna's information five minutes later. Luca was grateful that he had the habit of keeping all the data, or his boss would surely flip out.
- "Tell me you're joking. That's it?!" Quintez's eyes widened in surprise, seeing there was only one sheet of letter paper
- Luca drooped his head apprehensively. "Yes, Mr. Wood. You also only agreed to marry Mrs. Wood because of her simple background."
- Quintez had genuinely completely forgotten about it. He diverted his gaze toward the piece of paper.
- 'Leanna Smith, 21, a junior student majoring in acting at Shadowvale Film School.
- Father, Gideon Smith; mother, Abigail Walsh; brother, Louis Smith; half-siblings, Skyla and Aelius Smith.
- The family owns a centuries-old vineyard—Smith's Cellars, which faces the threat of bankruptcy due to poor management.'
- The rest of the page contained some unimportant information about Leanna, only using up a small portion of the A4 page.
- "Leanna…" Quintez murmured the name softly. So, her name is Leanna Smith. This was from last year, which means she's 22 this year and graduating from college soon. Although she brought him much pleasure last night, and he experienced the beauty of her first time, the fact that she had planned to cuckold him infuriated him.
- "Where is she now?" Quintez looked up.
- "As per your instructions, sir, she was placed in the Rainbowridge villa. She doesn't stay there much, spending most of her time at school or occasionally visiting her brother. Now… It's May, so she should be graduating soon." Luca answered immediately, nervous, making sure not to miss a word.
- "Anyone would dream of living in a villa, yet she stays out all the time!" Quintez crushed the letter paper into a ball and threw it into the trash can.
- Looks like she has been planning to betray me for a long time. Fortunately, she didn't succeed, for he knew last night was her first time. Blake had mentioned that women bleed the first time, and he saw evident bloodstains on the white sheets.
- "Is there anyone else at Rainbowridge?"
- "There's a maid placed there to care for Mrs. Wood, also a young girl in her twenties."
- "Tell her I'll be coming home tonight."
- Luca was stumped. Boss hasn't returned home the past year, and now he's suddenly going back?! But he didn't dare question Quintez's decision, especially with him still in a rage, so he just did as told.
- At Shadowvale Film School…
- Leanna, now about to graduate, was overwhelmed with the pressure of her thesis and job hunting in May.
- After resting at home for a while, despite feeling exhausted from being tossed around by that man last night, Leanna dragged her tired body to school. She needed some materials and was heading straight to the library.
- A red Maserati abruptly stopped right in front of her, the screech of brakes drawing the attention of many. The door opened, revealing a pair of red high heels, followed by a pair of slender legs. Then Leanna saw her. It was her sister, Skyla.
- "Wow, it's Skyla, and what a beautiful sports car!"
- "Indeed! Her boyfriend is the CEO of Sagebrush Studios and has already signed with them. She's bound to be a big star soon!"
- People nearby whispered enviously.
- Not wanting to encounter her sister, Leanna pretended not to see her and planned to head directly to the library. However, a familiar voice reached her ears. "Leanna! Long time no see!" Skyla took off her sunglasses and waved casually at Leanna.
- Closing her eyes, Leanna took a deep breath and turned around with a bright smile, though it was forced. "Yeah, it's been a while. Fancy seeing you here."
- In this school, many were destined to be future stars, and Skyla had been one since her sophomore year. She used to practice gymnastics and represented the school in international competitions. Later, she also took acting classes, signed with Sagebrush Studios, and in the eyes of many, she was already a rising star. Her appearance naturally attracted a lot of attention, and everyone gathered around.
- "Skyla has a sister?!" Someone cautiously inquired.
- "Yes, I heard Skyla excels at everything, but her sister is useless! They're both majoring in acting, but Skyla is already getting leading roles while her sister is still an extra."
- Listening to the gossip around her, Leanna felt uncomfortable.
- "Leanna, it's good to see you today. Eli and I are getting engaged. You should come."
- "Oh, really? It took you pretty long just to get engaged." Leanna couldn't help but sneer, her eyes full of disdain.
- This comment stung Skyla a bit, her face showing a hint of displeasure, but she quickly regained her composure. "Yes, the Marten-Robbinses are a prominent family. These things take time. But don't worry, Leanna, you'll soon be able to celebrate our engagement."
- Skyla looked proud, knowing she had the upper hand in front of Leanna. After all, Elias Marten-Robbins had once belonged to Leanna.
- Leanna didn't show any sadness. "Sure, I'll celebrate then. I shouldn't let my half-sister down when she went to great lengths to get her future husband."
- Skyla knew Leanna was being sarcastic and was aware of her sharp tongue. However, now, Leanna could only resort to verbal jabs.
- "Leanna, I heard no company has signed you yet. Are you still playing minor roles? How about I talk to Eli and see if he can help you?"
- "No need. I'll find a company to sign with myself. If there's nothing else, I'm off to the library." Leanna glanced at her and prepared to leave.
- "I know you're feeling uncomfortable! But it's your fault for not cherishing what you had back then!" Skyla didn't let her off.
- Just as Leanna turned around, a sapphire blue sports car sped and stopped in front of them in a flash. It was a Ferrari LaFerrari! In the sunlight, the sapphire-blue LaFerrari looked like a fierce beast waiting for a battle, exuding dominance.
