Chapter 3 The Dinner

  • Chapter three
  • Despite being called La Antorcha, what I have in front of me doesn't match the rustic name. I turn to Wade, who is watching me expectantly with his hands in his pockets.
  • "Do you like it?" he smiles.
  • "How could I not like it, this is impressive," I turn around, "Sorry, it's just that I've never been to a restaurant before."
  • He smiles, "Of course, but come, sit down," he delicately pulls out the wooden chair, and I obey his request and sit.
  • "Seriously, I apologize," I observe his attractive face as he looks at me amused.
  • "Don't worry, Sara, I say things like that every day."
  • A hint of mischief passes through his eyes, "That's a very personal confession, don't you think?"
  • He sighs, "What did I tell you about calling me 'sir'?"
  • "Oh, sorry, it's just that I'm so used to calling my mother Elizabeth or mother that for me, they are big terms, so to speak," I shrug.
  • "Excuse me," a voice speaks beside us, and I can tell by her tone that it's the friendly girl, "Here is your menu to order, I'll be at the door until you decide."
  • I look at the book in my hands and lower my shoulders disappointed.
  • Darn it!
  • I should have paid more attention to my mom when she gave me those cooking lessons. I glance at Wade out of the corner of my eye, and he seems to be thinking about what to choose.
  • I know that what I'm about to do doesn't concern me. I clear my throat, "Wade, can I order?" he looks up, nods, and quickly closes the menu.
  • I signal for the girl to come over, and she approaches.
  • "I want whatever the Chef recommends or decides for me, and what about you?" I turn to look at him.
  • "The same, tell the Chef to surprise me," he speaks with a playful and husky tone.
  • The waitress nods with a beautiful smile and leaves our side, "Do you know the girl's name? I like her more than the previous one."
  • "I think her name is Arelis. I've been here a little while, and she doesn't attend to me much," he looks in the direction she went.
  • I sigh, "So, you're rarely in this area."
  • "Yes, I usually don't come here often, and when I do, it's to grab a quick bite, which I can do on the first floor."
  • He seems like a warm guy.
  • I place an arm on the table and rest my face in my hands, "Despite being a millionaire, you're kind," did I say that out loud?
  • I recoil and look away, trying to avoid his gaze. I glance at him from the corner of my eye, and he looks somewhat unsettled, "I don't think so."
  • I furrow my brows, "Why?"
  • "Because I have secrets and flaws, and don't ask me more about that, or it will give me the impression that you are," his cold tone resonates in my ears and reaches my heart.
  • That hurt, and since I don't know him, I can't say a word. I raise my eyebrows and press my lips together, looking around the place, and I don't speak again until dinner arrives.
  • We eat in silence and quickly, although I'm not sure if I can call it eating quickly when he takes big bites of stuffed potato with meat. I feel his gaze on me like a damn lion stalking its prey, and it annoys me, a lot.
  • I am the prey.
  • I finish eating and get up, "The dinner was great, thanks for the invitation," I quickly leave.
  • I won't let someone talk to me like that.
  • I arrive at the reception on the second floor, and Arelis looks at me strangely.
  • I open and close my mouth in agitation, "Open the door for me, quickly," my frightened look alarms her.
  • "But..." she starts to say, and I interrupt her.
  • "Now," I glance back and notice that Wade is just a few steps away from me, I look in the direction where my mother was, and there's no one there.
  • Perfect, that means they are already downstairs.
  • Or maybe they have already left.
  • She opens the door, and I enter quickly, all I can see is how he tries to reach us deliberately.
  • "Wait," the last thing I hear from him, and she closes the door.
  • I sigh, "Thank you, thank you so much."
  • "Don't worry and sorry if I'm being nosy, but what happened? "she turns to me, already having locked the door.
  • "I don't even know myself, I spoke to him normally and politely, but suddenly he acted strange.
  • "Oh, I can't tell you anything because I don't know him, but what I can tell you is that I saved you from something "her warm smile comforts me and her sweet gaze makes me feel safe with her.
  • Our steps stop at the beginning of the hallway and she takes out her keys to open the grand refined door.
  • "Goodbye "I wave and leave the place.
  • Before heading towards the restaurant doors, I turn around to make sure that neither she nor he are inside. The downstairs decoration now seems more fantastic to me than the one upstairs, and it is definitely a good place to come and eat.
  • Of course, because you didn't embarrass yourself here and now concentrate, you idiot, find your mom quickly.
  • My gaze scans every corner of the place and I don't see the people I'm looking for. I quickly leave the place and feel all eyes on me, the whispers are stressful, and to top it off, I come across the first weird person I found here in this city.
  • What was her name again?
  • Natalia.
  • She chuckles quietly as I pass by her "I knew she was just another one "I stop.
  • I turn and look directly into her eyes "Look, I don't know what problem you have with me, but you won't like what I have to say, so... "she laughs uncontrollably, while grabbing a strand of blonde hair "Let's put it this way. You're from here and I'm from somewhere else, but do you know what the difference is now that I'm here? "I raise my eyebrows "that they don't know me like they know you "I turn, toss my hair back, and keep walking, I open the door and hear her say something under her breath.
  • I pay little attention to the nonsense.
  • My gaze searches for the lovebirds' car and quickly find it, but there's something strange, the car is moving a lot.
  • Please, let it not be what I'm thinking.
  • I walk towards them and look through the passenger window where I see a very flushed Elizabeth next to a somewhat normal"looking Mate, but with swollen lips. I tap on the window and their eyes immediately travel to me, Mate rolls down the window and I hear what my mom said.
  • "Can I come with you? "I put on my best smile.
  • In this case, it's the best option, besides, I want, no, I don't want, I need them to take me with them.
  • "Mate, so what will you say? "my mother looks at me with a sour face, but now it's the least of my concerns, the point is not to go with Wade. I turn towards the restaurant doors and see him coming out and looking around.
  • "Mate, tell me yes or no! "I stare at him without blinking until he finally decides.
  • "Get in "he unlocks the back door and I quickly get in. He mumbles something that I don't understand and I dismiss it.
  • I see Ricky Ricon walking towards the car "Drive "I shout.
  • But what a sexy man, too bad I don't like being yelled at.
  • Mate starts the car and we leave the parking lot to merge onto the road. I can see Wade looking back, pulling his hair, the hair that I would like to touch, I wonder if he has oval abs.
  • Of course, can't you see that he's tall, handsome, muscular, wealthy, maybe a womanizer, and you intend to ask if he has oval abs. You're a fool, you should think more.
  • I WON'T LISTEN TO YOU, YOU'RE MY MIND, NOT MY MOM, AND JUST SHUT UP, UGLY.
  • You do realize that you're calling yourself ugly, right?
  • ...
  • Great, the silent treatment, you know what, I'm leaving.
  • Wonderful.
  • I shake my head and observe the scenery around me, my gaze stops at the house in front. Specifically, a huge house.
  • "We've arrived "everything falls silent.
  • Mate looks at me through the rearview mirror "Since you didn't respond to anything we said during the whole trip...
  • "Clumsy mind.
  • Shut up and listen.
  • Fine, but you don't tell me what to do, idiot.
  • I'm your conscience and now pay attention.
  • "Sara, SARA "I cover my ears at my dear mother's shout.
  • Please, let the sarcasm not be noticeable.
  • I observe Mate and he continues with his conversation" I was telling you, I decided to make the decision with your mother. This is not my house, but it's where I live, and since you don't have beds or a place to sleep, I brought you here so you can sleep well while you get some furniture " I nod.
  • I'm sleepy, and the last thing I want right now is to argue with the aforementioned Elizabeth.
  • I yawn " If she just wanted to tell me that we would be sleeping here, she could have started from there, and it would have been fine. I'm already sleepy, and before you ask, Elizabeth.
  • " Mom " she interrupts me.
  • " Yes, Mom. Yes, you can sleep with him " I get out of the car before she protests against me with her arguments that she wouldn't do it.
  • I stretch and hunch lazily, they get out and walk to the entrance, I follow them and hug myself because of the intense cold that runs through every inch of my skin.
  • " Sara, since you told me you're sleepy, I'll take you to where you'll sleep and give you some clothes. Just wait here while I take your mother to the room and come back for you " I nod. He goes up with my mother behind him, and I can already see her swaying her hips.
  • She's up to something.
  • " Don't take too long, I want to sleep " I sigh.
  • I take a look at most of the refined and stylish things, this is only for the rich, I highly doubt someone of my status could buy something like this. I walk towards the giant windows on my left and observe all the mansions, cars, and lights. The entrance opens, and curiously, I see a car just like Wade's.
  • No, but, it can't be him.
  • I shake my head and turn towards the stairs. I just want to sleep " Mate, hurry up, stop doing things with my mother " I lower my sleepy head and feel his steps quickly descending the stairs.
  • " Let's go " I lift my head and squint my eyes. I follow him up the stairs until we reach the end of them.
  • " Just a suggestion " I breathe heavily " put an elevator for people like me " I rest my hands on my knees and see him with his arms crossed " What? I eat and don't gain weight, I don't exercise either, and that's why I'm in this physical condition " I take one last breath before standing up straight.
  • " Oh, follow me " he walks towards the left hallway, at the end of it, I see a black door with gold and a figure of a howling wolf in gold at the top. He opens it, and I can see a huge royal blue room and the gigantic white bed.
  • Tonight, I sleep like a queen.
  • " Sarita, here's the clothes you'll wear " he hands me some oversized wool pants along with a t"shirt.
  • " Everything here is big " I complain and push him out " I need privacy, and I'm going to sleep even if it's not your house " I close the door in his face. I turn around and run towards the bed, I jump on it and bounce, the ceiling is white, I have doors to my right and left, air ducts in the upper corner, lamps in each corner of the room, and huge dark green curtains where I'll find out what's behind them once I've rested.
  • I get up and go to the first door with the clothes, trying to find the bathroom, but instead, I find a huge closet full of men's clothes and shoes, all kinds of watches and bracelets, necklaces, glasses, accessories, brands, sneakers. This must be Mate' closet.
  • Why does he buy such big clothes if he doesn't have much muscle?
  • I leave there and go to the second door where there's a huge mirror and men's products on the quartz countertop, a double sink and drawers underneath it. I open them and find razors, epilators, a hair clipper machine, in another one I find towels, I go to the wooden closet and find large white towels, super large. I turn towards the corner and see a jacuzzi, and in the other corner, a rain"shaped bathtub.
  • I walk towards the bathtub and strip off all my clothes, I enter to take a shower and finish quickly, I get out of there, put on a boxer that I find wrapped in the clothes, then the pants, and finally the t"shirt. I grab my clothes to fold them and leave them on the countertop, I walk to the bed, lie down, and cover myself from head to toe.
  • I always sleep like this.
  • Vague memories of him come to my mind. He must be at his house sleeping peacefully without even remembering what happened at dinner.
  • And here you are, thinking about him, Sara.
  • The rain begins to fall and that sound relaxes my senses, the cold and that enchanting smell make me surrender and fall completely asleep.
  • ...
